True Christians today rightly pray that judges and other men in authority might give favorable consideration to matters affecting true worship. And encouraged to pray for all sorts of men to come to an accurate knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 3:2-4, Timothy did not encourage men to pray for authority as far as the political system goes. That would be contradictory to Jesus saying true Christians are not a part of the "world" including the political system. What the apostle was saying to Timothy was by reason of their authority, men in high governmental station can interfere with a Christian leading a calm & quiet life. They may impose legal restrictions on their Christian activities and authorize severe penalties for engaging in true worship. So it is appropriate to pray that rulers might be kindly disposed toward Christians so that these might not be persecuted for serving God. Plus God is a God of order, not chaos. Scriptures must be read properly, not out of context because it misleads..

Some of what he is saying is not entirely correct and the people he mentioned were not politicians. Nobody ran for political office in the Bible. There was no voting. Also, King Agrippa was being sarcastic to Paul…as the name “Christian” was viewed as a pejorative. Now, God does command we pray for the prosperity of the land as he mentions this in Jeremiah 29 and as this pastor mentioned about 1 Timothy….but as Romans 13 teaches us, there is no other authority but God and that those in authority ultimately are purposed by Him. So yes, pray for our leaders. But this pastor is WRONG for saying prayer is political. It is not. It’s a commandment from God.

John the Baptist spoke against them and was executed for doing so. That’s different context entirely than the Pastor was presenting those relationships. They were adversarial relationships (but usually peaceful on part of the prophets) in nature, not partnerships.
Sounds good, but just make sure, as believers, we do not idolize Trump. If he is elected, we should continue to pray for Yahweh’s glory to be revealed and souls saved.

There was not one God-appointed governmental leader in scripture that was perfect. Nor will there ever be, except when Messiah returns. Until then we pray for our leaders AND vote for and even endorse the choice that aligns with the biblical standard the closest. That's what Pastor Sewell is doing and what we all should be doing. God's kingdom is not just in heaven.
Anyone who understands the requirements of the word of God would not vote for Mr. Trump. God has standards that do not change. It has nothing to do with the noises of the people. Let us pray for all pastors whose agendas do not align with the Spirit of God.

I am also very, very familiar with these scriptures that he used to fit his narrative. Anyone can take a scripture and twist the meaning. Proverbs 19:5 speaks on false witnesses. Not everyone that quotes scripture quotes it accurately. A false witness tells lies against a person or for a person.

I’m a devout conservative, evangelical, Christian. I cannot understand how the church got so enamored with this man. I understand all need prayer. But to treat him like he is some savior, innocent of any and all crimes, is just stunning. The sheer worship of this man like he is the second coming. All the hate and violence he espouses. The lascivious manner in which he speaks of his daughter. I don’t get it.
Well I don't worship him, I only support his policies. Not sure if you are listening to the MSM...but he is actually for PEACE. Most of his so called crimes are NOT crimes he has done. True Christians today rightly pray that judges and other men in authority might give favorable consideration to matters affecting true worship. And encouraged to pray for all sorts of men to come to an accurate knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy 3:2-4, Timothy did not encourage men to pray for authority as far as the political system goes. That would be contradictory to Jesus saying true Christians are not a part of the "world" including the political system. What the apostle was saying to Timothy was by reason of their authority, men in high governmental station can interfere with a Christian leading a calm & quiet life. They may impose legal restrictions on their Christian activities and authorize severe penalties for engaging in true worship. So it is appropriate to pray that rulers might be kindly disposed toward Christians so that these might not be persecuted for serving God. Plus God is a God of order, not chaos. Scriptures must be read properly, not out of context because it misleads..

Some of what he is saying is not entirely correct and the people he mentioned were not politicians. Nobody ran for political office in the Bible. There was no voting. Also, King Agrippa was being sarcastic to Paul…as the name “Christian” was viewed as a pejorative. Now, God does command we pray for the prosperity of the land as he mentions this in Jeremiah 29 and as this pastor mentioned about 1 Timothy….but as Romans 13 teaches us, there is no other authority but God and that those in authority ultimately are purposed by Him. So yes, pray for our leaders. But this pastor is WRONG for saying prayer is political. It is not. It’s a commandment from God.

John the Baptist spoke against them and was executed for doing so. That’s different context entirely than the Pastor was presenting those relationships. They were adversarial relationships (but usually peaceful on part of the prophets) in nature, not partnerships.
