Enjoyed the series and will be watching a lot more when I get my delivery from you sometime this week. Riley, I laughed when i thought what was going through your mind as you shaped the first one by hand 😂
Riley, you sold me my first opal. I bought a few pieces of Coober Pedy from the auction. I just wanted to thank you and Grace for taking the time to share these amazing tips. Between you, Justin Thomas and Don from Pulitzer Opal, you guys have inspired me into a new hobby. I have slowly started collecting the equipment needed to go full on Lapidary and Silversmith. As I practice on African opal and improve my skills, hopefully I'll be able to do justice to some Lightning Ridge pieces. Also, Thank you for making the black potch available for doublets.
That was so informative. l am a very green beginner looking forward to this beautiful new opal adventure. At the moment, lm gathering information and really enjoying these father and daughter training videos. You guys are really nice together and its great learning from you both. Thank You
Recently bought an andamooka opal from you was amazed at the quality polish on the stone ,I really struggle to get polish that good ? In fact I have cut one piece of rough andamooka but couldn't seem to get the polish I wanted so ended up putting a thin later of epoxy to get the shine I was looking for ,that said I used diamond oil polish I will try cerium oxide as obviously it's far from ideal coating stones ,thank for the great post .
Guys I bought one of your polished andamooka pieces recently, the Finnish on it was shining and seemed thick ,the best polish iv seen on andamooka matrix,I have tryed and tryed to get similar finish on some cabs I have cut from rough .I just can't seem to get a high quality thick polished finish on the stones ,why why why it's driving me crazy ,I do everything by hand sanding up to 3000 ,the curium oxide ,what and I doing wrong ? Any advice would be really appreciated.cheers Brian.
You can do it this way but the finish doesnt turn out very well. Better to resin coat it or stabilised with cactus juice or other uv stable resin in a vacuum chamber

Is this the same way you would treat rainbow matrix?
