  • This week I go international again to Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. I finally get to check out and explore The Tunnel at Niagara Parks Power Station. The now decommissioned former hydroelectric power plant built in 1905, has been transformed into a museum. I tour the well preserved generation equipment in the plant up above, then it’s down 180 feet to visit The Tunnel. A former spillway for the plant, it is now a 2200 foot tunnel that I get to explore and follow it to the end for some pretty amazing views of Niagara Falls. It was a great visit and trip you’ll want to check out! Do Come Along!!!

That’s a pretty impressive power station and the tunnel was cool and not only did someone lay all those bricks but they didn’t have great light and probably water leaking everywhere 😱 just a guess 🤪

The view coming out of the tunnel is astounding. The tunnel is an accomplishment today let alone that long ago. The bricks were pretty cool too, I wonder how many people it took to make them. I bet they had a system and could make several in a short period of time.

It's incredible to think about not only the supply of all those bricks, but having enough skilled masons to mortar and lay all of them! Amazing!

I don't remember the boats bobbing around that much when I was on them, but I guess they were. You're right, the views, along with the engineering and construction of the tunnel, are amazing. It's so cool that so much is available by walking. No parking worries.

It's always so fascinating to see how they were able to construct something of this magnitude, especially with the technology of 100 years ago! I always try to walk over when I can. The parking is so much easier on the American side. Plus, I can always use the exercise. 😁
