    Do not disturb cutting for atleast 2 weeks. If it is successful then you can find the sign easily i.e leaf / leaves look healthy. Too much attention to any plant lead to kill.

    making a clean cut also seems to be pretty important, I noticed a pretty big difference in the rates at which stems started to rot when I used dull kitchen scissors vs when I finally got a proper razor. Aside from the scissors probably having more bacteria and being harder to clean than a razor, it seems that messy cuts damage the stem tissue and have more surface area for bacteria to grow on.

    for those propagating succulents instead of tropicals (which would love a perlite box) make sure you leave the box open! some do well straight into dirt, but it should be barely damp soil. like half way between just watered and time to water. i’ve had really good luck putting perlite or bark in a catch tray and then covering it with sphagnum moss. it keeps the majority of the moisture away from leaves/cuttings, and doesn’t dry out too fast or gets too soggy when you water. the moss will just stay damp. and don’t cover it! the extra humidity of being on the moss is enough for them to root. they’re still dry heat loving succulents! 🌵
    also, make sure none of your cuttings/leaves touch while rooting. damages the leaves and consumes energy. opens them up to fungus and mold growth. this applies between plants as well as on the same plant. i found this video looking into to that new info i heard. thanks for the tips! happy growing!

  • @cafedetaza83

    Hi, I've been the whole evening watching your videos and with this one I have a question. I heard of using cinnamon as protection while propagating.
    It's supposed to put a little of powder on the cut and put it into soil or perlite, specially with succulents because as you said in the video, almost always you need to have a callus to put it on soil. I don't know if this actually works, it may be acting as the antifungi powder.
    Have you, or anyone, ever heard about this?

    • @SheffieldMadePlants
      @SheffieldMadePlants  Год назад +2

      Yes cinnamon can be used as an alternative to rooting hormone. Protects the cutting so the natural rooting enzymes can do their work.
