    The fact that OBOD acknowledges all types of deity concepts as equally valid while still providing a unifying framework for personal practice is, in my opinion, very special. It celebrates diversity. The harmony between abstract and more focused concepts really is quite unique amongst the spiritual paths I have investigated. For me that is why OBOD Druidry was definitely a homecoming.

    I never thought, as a gay Mexican who loves shopping and Starbucks would ever say this, but I think I’m a Druid. I’ve read on so many religious practices and philosophies and from some of your videos, I think this is what it is.
    I’ve always dismissed these kind of practices because I always looked at it as like.. no offense but like Larping in the woods lol. I had no idea there was real and actually deep philosophical world views within it. It helps that I’m seeing an educated, and at face value, a secularly minded woman presenting this information. Idk why I didn’t assume that I can still continue my degree, use conventional deodorant, and get a flu shot once a year, you know? It makes me feel more “normal,” for a lack of a better term about it. Honestly, I think from your videos, I’m going to sign up tonight.

      I am a gay Mexican too. I work in healthcare and hey modern-day druidism is for the modern world. I feel as a Mexican Druidy and Curanderismo go well together. I'd say with similar background learn Curanderismo to connect with ancestry. But over all it is up to you

    Yay OBOD!!! I've been a member for almost 4 years now (omg-time flies!). What definitely drew me to the order was the relaxed idea towards deity and the ability to mix the OBOD material with other traditions. i grew up Lutheran and that faith is still so important to me. My experience with OBOD has both given me new traditions to work in, but has made my Christian traditions so much more meaningful to me and I am forever grateful for that. :)

The cost is still something I need to consider, since I only work part-time at the moment. I normally connect with Nature on my walks, saying hello quietly to plants and animals along the way, and try to live an eco-friendly lifestyle (car-free, buy organic, reduce/reuse/recycle, etc.), but I am drawn to the ideas of structure and community that you mention are present in OBOD. Having searched for a very long time, I walked away from organized religion in my teens and until almost 10 years ago had not found the direction I wanted to go. I did try various organizations, I found Buddhism to be close to most of my beliefs and values, then the universe pointed me to Druidry and OBOD, I realized very soon I was home (so to speak). Sometimes these Reason Why videos can come off as an infomercial of the Vloggers favorite cause. I am glad to say that this one did not. I probably would change the order of precedence of these awesome points, but I’m sure every member would have their own precedence.
    I would like to add one to the list: Leadership from Beside and not Above. While OBOD does have a hierarchy, it is not the dogmatic type that some groups have. The leadership is more about housekeeping than herding the sheep. Local groups are autonomous as are individual Druids, there is a tremendous amount of freedom in the Order.
    Another point I would like to share is Cost. There are several ways to defray the cost of the course, see Pauline K
    's reply to Donna D’s comment below. You can also opt to share the course with a friend for a small fee. So two or three friends could share the material as a group. Or someone who has already complete the current course could share them with you for basically just a registration fee and not the cost of the full course. (With this be aware there is a prohibition against copying the material)

    • @DanniEsotericMoment
      @DanniEsotericMoment  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you Jay! I didn't think about the Leadership aspect, but you are so right. I love the way you put it as "Beside and not Above" It's very fitting for what OBOD does.

      I'm currently in the Ovate grade. I remember having the same problem when I was in the Bardic grade. I finally had to set aside a specific time each week to work on it, no wavering from that (except in an emergency situation.) I marked it on my calendar like I would a regular appointment. It's a lot to work through and if you don't make time for it then it can be to easy to set aside "for another time" that never comes.

    • @DanniEsotericMoment
      @DanniEsotericMoment  6 лет назад +6

      Never feel selfish for making time for yourself!! Never, ever! I agree that making a dedicated time each week helps, but I also think it's just as possible to find time for it by looking for those free, random ten minutes. While it's nice to make it a whole production and sacred time for yourself, you can also "steal" away 10 minutes here to read part of a lesson and another 10 minutes to try the practicum. There is NO Pressure to finishing the course in a certain amount of time. *hug* I wish you all the luck in finding the time you need and desire, whichever way to choose to carve it out of your busy life!

      Well this "proper" Druid does look after their body. Plus, I don't shame anyone else's body. 🙂

      Danni Lang Sorry, had just watched my 600 pound life and saw how they suffered. Innapropriate on my part.

      Proper Druids may have health issues that you're not aware of. I have cancer and am about to start taking a medication which may cause weight gain. You never know what someone else's situation is, so kindness is always a good default.

    Arrgh! It's DEITY, not DIETY! If it was just this once, I wouldn't bring it up, but I've seen this word misspelled several times by several Pagans.
    You probably already know the English word DEITY comes from the Latin word for god, so here's how to remember it: "In excelsis DEO", or, if you prefer to think of theatrical tricks rather than angelic hosts, "DEUS ex machina". The root is "de-", so think "de-ity", not "diet-y" -- God(dess) doesn't need to go on a diet!

      I just don't have spellcheck in my editing software and was rushing through my editing process. Since I do these only when I have a few hours to spare, I missed it. But I'm glad you pointed it out for others.

      Just remember to be polite when pointing out stuff its not very natured centered if your going to come off as negative instead of informative.
