Man...just respect to all that fought for their lands.
I don't care which side lost more men, or what the result would be. Point is there were men who stood up to the plate and others who stood down. Let's make sure all the brave men get the respect they deserve.
Everyone from the Red Army, to the US Navy, to the guys on D-Day, to the children in the Warsaw Uprising, to the Chasseurs Ardennais, even the Germans and the Japanese. Always remember a fallen soldier 🙏🏻

Townist Party of Morristown you are right. No one should care what side a soldier was on. Many Germans didn’t even know what they were fighting for, and neither did many other soldiers on all sides. The point being, even if a soldier fought for an evil regime, they should still be honored. People give up everything for their nations, and we should respect that.

good song though inaccurate. the PBYs reported the wrong position of the Japanese fleet. as a result the fighters depleted their fuel and had to turn back. by pure coincidence the torpedo bombers found the Japanese fleet before the dive bombers. the Japanese then did something incredibly stupid. they sent all of their fighters to destroy the torpedo bombers and left nothing in reserve. as a result the dive bombers were able to attack the carriers unopposed. tactics had nothing to do with it. it was all luck. luck that they even found the Japanese fleet, luck that the torpedo bombers and dive bombers arrived separately, luck that the Japanese left no fighters in reserve and the dive bombers could attack unopposed.

Another way to look at it is that the Japanese had bad tactics when it counted.
So good luck for the Americans, bad decision making for the Japanese.
Looking at it this way the song fits better but your also not wrong that luck played a major part in this battle.

@Keegan Tripp for me in the US the allies being defeated probably wouldn't have been a problem. There is no way Germany and Japan could have taken over the US. But for Europe and the places taken by the Japanese it's a good thing the axis powers were defeated. There was really no way for the axis to win they were at a huge disadvantage in almost every way.

American had a lot going for it that day, Japan didn't and failed miserably in both the tactical and strategic elements; the events of the battle were what turned out to be very lucky. And as far as the fighters go, one squadron had managed to cover one of the torpedo bomber squadrons. The criminal failure of Naval BuOrd in regard to the aerial dropped Mk.14 is what resulted with the failure of the torpedo destroying the carriers. The Navy's TBD-1 Devastator was obsolete by the time 1940 came around, by 1942 it was ripe for slaughter.
The US Navy was not really a force that anyone would bet against the Imperial Navy, but they managed despite all odds; and by mid-1943 what was arguably the service branch that would possibly hamper the success of the war in the pacific became the dominate naval service in the world. By VJ the total force of the US Navy had 6,768 ships, the pacific fleet had more ships alone than most of the world's navies did in total.
