I think a few survival games have this now... especially the ones aimed more towards younger gamers.
That was a MUST HAVE mod for me to play subnautica. As long as I was within 100m of storage, I could use the resources for building. Made the cyclops a fantastic mobile base deployer; just keep it full of titanium and quartz and stuff and I could easily build to my hearts content
A few good survival games do this.
The pal bed can be built on the ground doesn't need to be on the flooring

My suggestion is catch 2-3 Daedreams at night and a Hooter, for dark boost, then make the Daedream coller so you can have all 3-4 pals out all the time it's so op lol
The pal beds do NOT need to be on foundations. Those can be built anywhere flat enough to build and they do not require a roof over them.
I’ve had a lot of fun with this so far. Honestly I’m surprised it isn’t terrible.
My personal advice for this game. Don’t sleep on picking up Pal eggs as you explore. You don’t know what you’ll get from the egg.
First, Build a Base near Paldium and or Ore ... you do not need to build you base by Stone or wood, because at lv7 stone pit or Logging site is available for all the wood and stone you will ever need, , at Level 5 you get RANCH ... If you havent caught a VIXY yet capture 1+ of them ... Vixys+Ranch= Pal spheres, Arrows and Gold (Perfect for starting) also you will want sheep+Ranch =Cloth for armor ... as for raids I did them and never had a problem, easy to block there pathing, NOTE Ebotis putting walls out of your build circle, they will randomly Just vanish, with world clean up.
You can break down your palbox to move it. The only thing you will lose will be things like hottubs, power statue, bell arch, incubator. You still keep the material for it though, itll fall on the ground where it was made. Hope this helps
Favorite thing is you can climb onto palball while it's trying to catch a pall and if you catch it will launch you way up !!!!!
There are 100% night time pals but I've noticed the only show up during the day after you discovered them. Also you can build up to 3 palboxes per guild and a palbox can be used as a mobil fast travel point
i have seen 2 so far that only show up at night and im only 36. still got a few more levels and areas to go so there might be a few more. plus who knows maybe they will add more pals later.

@@shotty. oh i wish i knew the names but one looks like a lighting bird. its black with glowing blots on the top going down it. and the other is one the is in raids but in the wild i have only seen it at night. the other more common one of it is a fire. the variant is the one with NOCT in the name. and remember dusk and dawn are still night time pals. they would be to much of a pain if it was only night and not dusk and dawn too.
I’ve noticed the night ones don’t despawn in the day time. So if they spawn at night then you’ll see them during the day. I sleep through most nights right away and never see the two night ones unless I stay up a little bit then go to bed.
I have had a blast with this game. This game just shows what people especially old school Pokémon fans like myself have been looking for. This game seemingly came outta nowhere and it’s so good. I hope they build out more of a story I know they’ve got little lore pick ups but I hope it’s a little more fleshed out down the line.
I've been following the game since 2021. It wasnt well-known, but it always seemed like most people mocked it and it's "pokemon with guns" aesthetic. Oh how the turns have tabled, as I'm sure all of those people are now playing it.
@@-8h- i remember hearing about a "pokemon with guns" game but didnt look into it. im glad its a hit cause i love it. i just sad that there are some stupid pokemon fans out there giving death threats. you can love a game but it doesnt mean going nuts on something else that rivals it.
Quite frankly as a Gen 1 Pokémon player, I don't see why so many people compare those two games, except the obvious "inspirations" in some of the creature designs. There are games that have far more overlap gameplay wise or what the use and role of the monsters in the game is.

@zerodawn09 still a pretty bad argument. Most of the pals are references to Norse, Chinese, and Japanese folklore. There are a few that resemble pokemon, but not many. Most of them are just iterations of the same being, but they look like what they're trying to represent. And it's in plenty of games, I doubt people would care if so many didn't refer to it as "pokemon with guns" just because you catch creatures in balls.
The way you explain things fits my learning style. Thank you so much. I knew a bit of those things just learning as I go but many I didn’t. I hope you follow up with more.
fun facts for anyone
1: if you die in the ocean or a deep boy off water, your bag/gear will be teleported to the last location you actually stood before taking the plunge
.
2: if you find raids annoying there are locations that are immune to raids, example: the beach area behind the main spawn point is completely immune to raids, because its located in a hard to reach area. Subsequently if you build your base on top certain cliffs they too are immune to raids.
3: there are incubated Pals that will just drop crafting items, Example: there is a small candle like pal that will go into the ranch and create fire organs.
I didn't know about the areas immune to raids. That's dope. The pals that can drop resources can be caught normally as well. You just have to find their spawn places
@@Haruki6669. yeah they're not worth it, I came into this game with an Ark mentality and it kind of bit my ass in the long run, because these places don't give a lot building room you have to become creative.
I didnt even know about the immune areas and just chose to build my bas down by the beach, it's especially good because of the two respawing eggs
If raids are annoying (After having 3-4 of them in under an hour yea yea it was a bug) you can turn them off in settings.
I actually built my base in the ruins you first came across, and first raid, they didn't come anywhere near the second raid they found it and were pals I never saw. Sadly, I couldn't capture them.
I think the best thing I can offer that wasn't covered is hunting pals that spawn at night, the ones that are awake at night don't sleep at night in base so their efficiency for tasks is just that much better
Quick thing about the ground mount, the Purple Elk is probadly gonna be the first 1 u find as its very close to the start but if u can find the black and white wolf that looks like the Pokemon Lycanroc that is currently the fastest ground mount in the game. If u can get 1 with the Swift passive boosting its speed its even better and running around exploring is gonna be so mutch easier.
@@LewtenantZen its description even says its faster then other ground mounts and with those passives it gets even better. The only downside is that it can barelly jump up on any rock unlike the larger Elk that can double jump.
Seeing that i built my base in the exact same spot as you and hearing its no issue makes me feel so good
You can also go into the options for your server and turn town the stamina reduction for your player and your stamina will almost never run out.
Oh HELL yea. Regularly watch your D2 content, excited for Pal world content as well!!

I'm pretty sure the attack stat is a modifier. So every 2 points is actually 2% damage, so it can scale with your gear
Great video, thanks. Two corrections, and a few tips building off your video that might be helpful for you and others.
Correction 1: Straw beds for pals do not have to be placed on foundations. None of mine are; they can be placed on the ground no problem. I find some pals have difficulty going through doors, so I've learned to keep all pal beds and workbenches outside. Foundations can make it nicer, but are not necessary for their beds.
Correction 2 (maybe): I'm not 100% sure there are pals only available at night, but at the very least there are pals that are substantially more available at night. Daedreams go from rare to plentiful at night, and tombats - in my experience, are only at night.
Tip 1: You are correct that recalling a pal is a good way to keep them from slaughtering another you're trying to capture, but there is a more efficient way. Pressing 4 will bring up the pal interactions, and the bottom left option will be to make them passive. This is arguably preferable since you avoid the animation, and because there is at least one pal (Daedream) which - if equipping their gear - are always out when in your party, so it's the only way to keep them from attacking.
Tip 2: You consistently place a pal into your party and access their stats via the party menu, which is a few unnecessary steps. Press F when moused over them from any interface and the same details come up. That's true whether they're in your party, the palbox, or the palbox display of those deployed to your base.
Tip 3: In addition to significantly more XP, if you can afford to capture as often as possible, you can also get twice as many materials dropped from a pal. Capturing them rewards the same drops as killing, and you can butcher them once you craft the butcher knife to receive those materials again if needed. This is done via the interaction menu (4) when the butcher knife is equipped.
Get you a flambelle and assign it to your base. They can generate fire organs. It’s efficient enough that I have like 400 fire arrows and almost 200 organs at the base and I just got her this morning. Of course make sure you have a few transporters and a box near the ranch so your pals can collect and store the organs. Also vixies will dig up arrows gold and pal spheres if assigned to the farm ranch. I wouldn’t recommend the fire bow though it kinda sucks but the flame crossbow is pretty good against the lvl 14-20 pals / bosses.

Im just starting out too. Great video a couple things I can add that may help you too.
You can double jump with the horse looking dude. Just press it twice.
When you have a pal selected in your inventory instead of putting them in your current 6 roster, just press F I think it is. Pulls up all their stats, no need to move them around. It says what button on the bottom right.
I think wandering around exploring and capturing new pals is a good thing to do in the beginning too. I lucked out and caught a a Mammorest by fluke when I was level 10 ish. I came across two fighting each other. I waited for them to weaken each other and I captured one. Also Syndicate thug bases will eventually respond. You can find some cool pals early on that way too.
You dont have to drag pals into your team to inspect their passives etc, just press F on them in the main box
or X button on xbox
You can definitely build the straw pal beds on the ground, they don't need a foundation or roof. They're animals that are already used to sleeping outside lol
Nothing bad happens when you break you box. Just build it where you want it and if it still encompasses your old base items it changes nothing in regards. I build my first base in same spot as you and decided I also wanted to move it slightly to get the ore and it went super easy.
I think the ancient tech item may break. Not but definitely the egg incubator was the only thing I noticed. 👍
@@Reds_Resort yeah I was wrong. Higher tier tech items will break but the mats will be there for rebuilding.
there is a potion later on in the game to reset your stats, its in the thing where you make medicine but i think its also one of the higher kind of this type
Saw that this might be bugged so exercise caution.
YEA atm that potion is bugged. It also resets your pal expertise, which I think is the bug since you can't spend it on anything else but that. Maybe they had plans to do more??

Not sure if it changed for early access launch but the pal beds can be on the ground.
For help with weight. Get the pink cativa guys. For each one in your party they will increase how much you can hold by 50. If you have a party of 5 they give you 250 extra carrying weight.
Just fyi there are nocturnal pals. Daydream and this cat bat like one only come out around night time so you can see em in the early morning and early evening as it's transition from night to day
Dark types are only able to spawn in the dark. They can persist if you stay in the area throughout the day. And in dungeons, they can spawn anytime
the little candle pal gives flame organs at the ranch if you want fire arrows.
You can stop your pals from attacking while out. on PC you hit "4" and it brings up a menu to do things like emote, or change your pals offensive choices, switching it from Attack - Aggressively / What you attack / not at all.
Really enjoyed your video and it's definitely has helped me, however is there a way to pick up any of your built items that you've placed. I hate my bass and I didn't realize that the blue perimeter circle was based off of where you placed the fast travel box thing. Wondering if I'm able to move it or build another one and if I do would it destroy everything that I already built with my resources?

I lost my weekend to this game. I'm really glad you are making content for it. I'm curious how multiple bases work in this game. I figure you can't share resources, but can pals switch between bases easily?
You're correct on the resources. Pals can be switched out easily. Though you don't have access to the pals that are active in another base
At base level 10 you can make a second paldeck and a whole new base
Pal beds actually can be build on the ground. I was stupid to build them there but because you can't destroy them, i decided to build a few on the ground outside of my house at the same ruines.
Also i regret not having my first base at the ruines itself, i only later discovered that doorway which leads you to a very nice ruin like place which looks like some castle thing.
You can always deconstruct the base and rebuild. It's just a time thing, no resources really lost.
I wanna chime in that dark type pals do *spawn* initially at night time. I've seen them during the day too but only early on or in areas I've hung around through the night, they don't spawn during daytime but don't despawn either, they just sorta linger until you're out of render distance or however far until entities despawn in this game. So if you're moving alot through different areas, it makes the whole "dark types are nocturnal" effect work, but if you sit around a lot it sorta breaks
Night time has different pals. From night till dawn, you might have to leave the area and come back to reload the pals of that area. Each night time pal has their own locations so keep that in mind.
You can build pal beds on the ground tho they don't need a foundation beneath them

cant move only disassemble. one thing to note is you get everything back but its all on you so it can weigh you down. be carefull.

Usually when assigning pals to my base, I choose two dedicated planters, waterers, loggers, miners and igniters. And some generalists with handiwork and other useful skills. As cool as pals with several skills are, it's gonna be hard to make them focus on the thing you actually want them to do
There absolutely is a bunch of nocturnal pals. It's amazing you didn't notice that. There's 2 at least in the starting area and a bunch more later on.
ive gotten a memory wiping potion that dropped from a lovander and it reset my stats but ive only gotten one since lvl 34 and idk if its a xbox thing or not
Just to correct you on smething, the pet beds can be constructed on base ground, they do not need a foundation
11 days ago, OK, now maybe this is because I'm in Casual mode, but my build speed is many times better than my pals, but that doesn't mean I don't want them to help. And that goodness they smelt ore because I can't seem to do that. And they good baked berries which is good since my base lives on baked berries and even my party lives on baked berries. For me, the pals became sweet when I stopped and looked at my pal index and picked out a pal or 2 that could farm, a couple who could water, a couple who would haul, and then the berry farm was working wonderfully thanks to the pals efforts. Then I started to see the pals cooking food, and mining stone. Getting them to cut wood took a couple more days, oh and when I got a couple Vixy's in my Ranch, life was much better. Eventually I got the digger guy for ore, but you need the Pal piece for the guy to kick him into work mode :)
You can also catch a foxparks and use it as a heat and light source at night.
5:10 not true. if your Pals got defeated in battle and they have a time limit to revive, even if you sleep throughh the night it still doesnt effect the time they need to revive. So time doesnt fast forward for there revival. Tested and proven. Because i thought of the same thing too. They can only revive through the "PalBox "
You can respect with meds but they are currently bugged and reset your mini statue catch bonus so devs have said not to use atm.
Are you not supposed to be able to build the pals beds on the ground cause mine are tucked away in a corner on the outside 😅

Wait I just noticed something 0:55 his start menu looks way different than mines I'm on Xbox One X I don't have that many options it's only like five options even though I bought the game mine still say game preview
There is a way to respec it is in the technology tree, DO NOT use it, The developers are telling people not to use it because it is bugged. If you use the respec thing it can take away your capture power and the lifmunk effigy do not respawn so you can't get that capture power back.
And the pal beds can be placed on the ground now
first and foremost, focus on catching Lamballs as they can craft and aid you in building, plus at the Ranch they will shed Wool for you that you can use to make your initial clothes, setting up a base can be done in minutes with a team of Lamballs at your side. also for early automated Berry Plantations, catch the Grass Monkeys and Pengullets, they reside on the same island a bit aways from spawn, but having a couple of those you'll have all the Berries you'lll ever need, which is a great way to make sure you and your Pals are not starving.

Capturing does give more xp until you get 10 of that pal, after that, especially ones that need high tier balls, it isn't worth it to capture.
There are several nocturnal pals, daydream, depresso, an owl, a bat, a bird, and a werewolf looking drop bear at the least. Also, the daydream has a pal gear that lets you have all of the ones in your party out at once and the owl boosts the power of your dark pals.
Workspeed absolutely is useful in early game especially since not all the crafting you do is handycraft.
There is a respec in game. I'm not sure what dropped it but one of my pals dropped a respec oil in a chest after a raid.
The best area for ore imo is in yellow forest dont remember coordinates but its west of small settlement theres alot of ore over 5 nodes

if you don't want a torch you can tame the firefox guy too. it was cute so I always had one on me.
There are respect options and work speed has been the most useful aside from weight for me so far. All my pals are slow as hell building compared to me once I had leveled it only 2 times. They help a lot still though
Do not use the respect unless you have not been using lifmunk effigys as it resets your pal sphere efficiency boost and you do not get the effigys back.
@@darkscot1338 I've been holding off on them. I found 2 at once within a couple hours of starting the game, I think they dropped from a syndicate thug or something. Just been sitting in a chest since then
Not a lot gets destroyed when you destroy your Palbox, think it was just my Range, Hotspring and a couple of others, the buildings, benches, boxes, and mining things were all fine. Basically to check what will be destroyed just see what you can't built outside a base.
tabula rasa does give you the ability to set statpoints back dropped from the pink love pals
Fun fact there’s a pal that drops flame organs if you don’t have anything queued for the smelter I forget her name I think it’s itgnis, I had used her for the smelter then came back to a bunch of flame organs on my stable 😂

Early game get a group of 5 Cattiva for a nice 250 weight bonus while gathering. Think that falls under a beginner tip!
You can press "F" on pc, while viewing your pals at storage, to access their detail page. No need to place them into your party for that

how does a 2nd base work? and how do you use the diagrams?
You simply have a schematic in your inventory when going to the crafting bench, and it appears as a craftable option.
There IS a way to respec, currently, however it removes all your Lifmunk upgrades with no way to retrieve them, currently. So, until they fix that, it's not a good idea to use the item.
U can place the pal beds on regular ground they dont need a foundation
I'm Lvl 11, and i have a dinossum, a lucky lamball, direhound (cant remember if thats the name or not), some other higher level pal i should have yet and dont remember the name of off the top of my head, and Zoe and Grizzbolt, and i have yet to build a torch. This is also my 3rd save because i gave uo the first two after losing lucky foxsparks to impatience and stupidity
I don't know if you know but you can farm flame organ by getting a flambelle

It definitely is a word, but people who don't know the difference tend to use it interchangeably with "efficiency."
The difference is that efficacy is about being effective, while efficiency is about getting the most done with the least time/effort/resources.
An extremely efficacious method may also be extremely inefficient.
I have several pal beds on the ground outside. Some prefer the outside beds 🤷🏻♂️
You can respect skill points at lv 43 but the receipt to do it is currently glitched and devs advise against using it until they fix it
Also something to add they need a way down or up to the resources to go gather it naturally. Even flyers
I’m pretty sure daedream during day is a glitch they go away by like mid day
Night, does in fact awaken different Pals and you should spend some time hunting at night.
All my Pal beds are outside on the ground. So, they don't NEED to be indoors or on a foundation ...but it looks nicer.
Not being able to catch the Pal you want but being defeat by it is top tier

You don't have to have the pal beds on foundation. Only your personal bed. Pal beds can go on dirt. That's where I have all of mine.
Workspeed early game is the most important to reduce real life irritation. watching your screen while you stand still and build is annoying, so to reduce that, actually use that early on.
They had an update last night for xbox servers
Always capture unless you need mats. You get significantly more xp
You can also capture then butcher them for even more mats.

@@L0NGBEACH Depends on your server. It's set up for single players, easily. There's a 32 player cap for a server, with a 20 player cap for a guild, so .... If you play solo, it doesn't matter how often you play.

yeah, i dont see the need to have your first base anywhere else, it's right near where you start playing, there's a fast travel point there, it has all the necessities including an Ore Vein and Paldium Deposits, best of all the terrain is unfriendly to Raiding Parties.
plus there's plenty of space to build upon, leaving you nowhere near cramped if you build wisely.
I think he needs to edit the lifmonk effigies tip as they seem to be bugged doing the opposite of their purpose. Idk why it hasn’t been fixed as many people are talking about it.
I think that finally got fixed in a recent patch, i'd have to confirm but the recent patch notes talk about it.
