  • Hi friends! Today is all about creating Tufted Fabric on a salvaged footstool. This is an easy beginner DIY. Full disclosure, I'm not an expert since this is my first time trying it but if my sister and I can do it, trust me, YOU CAN DO IT!
I’ve always wanted to try tufting but as I’ve mentioned in a few of my other fabric-related posts, working with fabric intimidates me. I’m really happy Andrea encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and try this! I hope it’s inspired you and given you some new ideas for your projects!

Today I am recovering an ottoman (28" x 40") with same tufting as your project using a velvet drapery panel I have. (the matching panel became a soft roman shade last week:-) My ottoman is in the same room as the roman shade so I am excited about this project. Thank you for the list of needed items as well. Your instruction was the very best of the all the videos I viewed and I especially liked your treatment of recovering the buttons - the outcome was a beautiful transformation! This video gives me confidence that I can achieve a beautiful result as well!

Love how it turned out! I’ve been following the progress as I have the exact stool (in pieces now for 2 years) and this vid is inspirational for me to attack tufting! Q…how did you attach the tufted to the stool base? I want to continue to purpose as a storage compartment when I reupholster mine! Great work, video and tutorial! TY

Thanks Michelle! And Andrea hasn't attached the top as of yet thats why I didn't show that portion in the video. I believe she's going to use the original hinges but they might need larger/longer screws because of the fabric thickness.
