@@John5XR I may end up getting one. I've seen where people have made fairings and saddlebags for them to look like a mini harley Streetglide... monkeydavidson they call them. RUclips that if your curious... looks cool as heck if your into that kinda stupid!🤣
And I always wonder why people like Harleys. I owned one and it was big, heavy and loud, but not fun for just playing around the neighborhood. Add the nostalgia. In the 1970's every kid had a Z-50. Great memories. Not the biggest or baddest, just good fun. Now when I see 60 year old Harley riders trying to look tough I laugh.
@@rebellucy5610 I hear you. Many I ride with are about the image and not what the bike can do for you. I've owned 4 harleys, two not so softails. A road King and now a Streetglide. I could get everything I have now on a new Yamaha venture. But I got the Streetglide for less money than the venture sells for. I'm 47 years old, I dont make trips around town much anymore. I do for a spin to the store but my riding habits have changed. I do destination rides. I've done 800 miles in one day as my longest day on a bike. Some guys could do that on a sport bike but for me I could have never done that on my other harleys or any of the metric bikes I've owned. I was not born with a harley sticker on my ass. I'm a motorcycle enthusiast. I could ride any bike so long as it's not a pink vespa! It's a pain in the ass because everywhere I go some mental defect wants to talk about harleys to me. I dont like a lot of attention. I'm fat and 47... I get young girls asking for a ride, that attention is kinda cool but refer to mental degenerates. Some 20 year old wanting to hang with me probably isnt the kind of woman you want around your valuables. That and my girlfriend is a bad bitch. She would kick the shit out of both of us! Well anyway, I'm not that self absorbed poser on my harley. I wave to all other riders and I'll ride with anyone who can run the speed limit. Dont underestimate the Streetglide, it's pretty nimble around town for an 850 pound bike. I scrape saddle bags in town at 20 mph. Listen to what I said there, you can lean it to its maximum lean angle at 20 mph and not lose it. Its predictable and handles. I'm not some bad ass rider who claims to be Ricky racer. But after 30 years of riding street bikes I can say the Streetglide is impressive for a touring bike. But theres lots of impressive bikes from every manufacturer. Be safe out there, assume nothing!
That rear light and large orange indicators are real old school looking. The Euro version has a round led rear light and two small led indicators with white transparant lenses next to the rear light.
This is how the Euro version looks. Carbon rear fender is from Tyga. Price is 149€. This bike also has a Tyga exhaust. www.google.be/search?q=tyga+carbon+fender+monkey+125&client=safari&hl=nl-be&prmd=isvn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiC88WA9s3iAhVHblAKHdKxA4QQ_AUoAXoECAwQAQ&biw=1024&bih=666#imgrc=4x7cwJ19kNAzcM
🛑🛑 I’m sorry, I just got my Monkey this weekend, however the question have is… When you installed your Relocation Kit, and didn’t have a License Plate Light to install; and rode the bike without the light, did the bike throw a code on the dash board; since the light wasn’t present? I was thinking of removing the “lobster tail” and not installing the license plate light, and shrink wrapping the OEM Harness end to keep it water tight. . Thank You. Great Content.
Thanks for the feedback! I strive to make sure the audio is good as it’s important to hear what I’m sayin if you’re using the video to learn how to do this on your own bike. The MNNTHBX plate mount came with optional led license plate mounting bolts, but didn’t install them in the video because I wanted to make it plug-n-play with OEM connectors. Didn’t wanna splice into the harness. The Yoshimura option is nice and the integrated plate lights are slick. I love the plate bezel on the Yoshimura!
Totally changed the look of the bike. You’ll love it! Make note of my advice on reusing the clips off the original tail, there’s no directions and I only thought about it after I was done
They didn’t actually! I did bend the mount more horizontal to try and shield some of the water that will soak your back when you ride on wet roads though
John5XR ok cool man thanks . I just bought a 2020 Monkey [Blue] 2 days ago . It’s not my first or only bike , but it’s destined to be a favorite for sure. Great Monkey content my friend - your new subscriber 👍🏼
I did find the right connector, but the pins that came with it were too wide, so I need to get that figured out. I did find a source though and will be making some plug-n-play kits when I am satisfied with a setup
Currently in the middle of the same install on my monkey. The lisence plate bracket kit came with 3 plastic washers did you use them? Also what did you do with the other end of the connector in the rubber boot?
I don't remember plastic washers, maybe mine was an earlier version that didn't include them. I left the license plate lights off of my setup for now and am going to try and track down the matching connector for a plug-n-play solution
I actually like the bike stock ...better. I think every one should save their money and apply it towards a decent sounding pipe instead. I just got finished riding mine...awesome bike. Not fast, even with a pipe but, fun riding with others..we were in a group with modded CT-70 Hondas with 140 engines...they will eat your lunch...very fast. A few had the Kawasaki Z-125's.....They were the slowest of the bunch. We had a bunch of fun. Before you guys go out and change the tail light.. think about it...money best applied to a yoshi exhaust.
I’m yet to hear a single-cylinder 4-stroke that sounds great, but a friends Grom with the Yoshi system sounds pretty good, so that’s why I went with it. The Monkey system is much louder than the Grom too. I’ve been bugging Yoshimura to produce a silencer insert to hush it a bit, and with that I think it would sound better. Right now it sounds like a 450 motocross bike to me! What exhaust are you running?
Not yet, but it seems like there’s a lot of tailight systems out there that use push-in connectors instead of an actual plastic plug to preserve the OEM harness. If I can’t find the OEM plug, I’ll go that route
I didn’t. I had to source the connectors from Japan and it was costly, so I kinda shelved the project. Since I don’t ride much on the street or at night, I didn’t feel like it was a high priority, but would like to revisit it sometime in the future for content
If you want a cooler/smaller/retro rear light, the stock euro model setup looks pretty good i think: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0333/0021/products/2019_Honda_Monkey_125_MiniMoto_Motorcycle_Central_Florida_PowerSports_1.jpg?v=1531497439
Oh without a doubt the stock tail does its job well, but I don’t commute or ride on the road too often, so slimming my offroad profile and reducing unnecessary weight is more beneficial to me
Not yet. The source in my description is from Japan, so it’s not as easy and cheap as I’d hoped for reselling. I’m working on finding a stateside source still
Thanks for a clear no nonsense presentation how it is done. Thanks John and greetings from Australia.
Just got my bracket yesterday for my new 2023 Monkey. Thanks for the tips.
I dont understand why I think these bikes are so cool. I ride a harley Streetglide... but something about these little hondas capture my imagination.
Because they’re easy, small, light, slow, street legal, and this combo equals big fun!

The side markers are theme correct, it’s the blocky tailight that doesn’t sit well with me

But I gotta ask - how does the tire & license plate NOT contact each other after this ? 🤔

Definitely not hours, but glad you found it helpful!
John5XR you don’t know me I need to call a contractor in to hang a picture 😜
😂
Hey John, I ordered the same tag bracket from MNNTHBX . Did you ever find a connector for the l.e.d. Tag bolts?

In Illinois its a state law to have a lite on your plates, hope you dont get a ticket
I do like that!
Looks better but how does the fender work with mud and water?
So far so good! Haven’t felt the sand on the back of the neck like I do on my Grom 😝
Did you ever find a plug n play solution ?
Can’t get the tag light harness loose. What am I missing?
Hey John, when you start making the plug and play harness for the l.e.d. Tag bolts I would like to purchase one from you.
Sounds good! I’ll be sure to post a video about them when I get the kit sorted out
Do you need to install an aftermarket license plate light to be street legal?
By the letter of the law you have to illuminate the license plate, so typically yes
were did you get the license bracket
MNNTHBX.com the best place for Monkey parts 👌
Did you ever find the oem connector? For light.
Not yet, I kinda shelved that for the time being as we’ve been insanely busy with our Miata parts business. Soon I hope though

The Euro lights are sexy for sure. Not sure I wanna dish out the cash for them yet though
My big ass would make that plate hit the tire lol.
No way, my ass is huge and I haven’t made it hit yet! Lol
The original is so long for the water,,,from the street,,,,,when is rainining u can not drive with the small plate.....
