I'm also thinking of moving to Alaska from Maine. I've been watching a lot of these videos trying to figure out just how expensive life in Alaska really is.
Food is expensive here in Arizona. This video was in 2017 and believe me the meat prices are less than what we paid last year. This year meat prices are off the charts.
Thanks for the great video AJ ...... been a while since you did shopping video and this one by far is the best ...... detail and pricing were much clearer than in your previous ....... how about another new one of Three Bears Alaska ..... I know it is kinda far from where you live but if you have time it would be nice ...... keep up the great work ...... been 10 years since I was in the US and the sticker shock is hard to believe ..... many thanks
I appreciate the nice comment. I did a walk thru of the Three Bears Store in Birchwood just about a year ago. I'll provide the link below. I would shop there if I wasn't on the south side of Anchorage. Take care. ruclips.net/video/RUW84eHYyww/видео.html
These prices are not that bad at all. Its just like shopping at Whole Paycheck Supermarket, often even better prices considering that many of these products are shipped from thousands of miles away. Whole Paycheck should be put under price control for overpricing! I lived in Hawaii and prices are almost identical.
The people in Alaska that have a Walmart near them are blessed. All the other videos I've watched of grocery stores in Alaska. I would be broke AF with my Utah wage. One video had a watermelon at $36...... First time I'm in support of Walmart... SMH
Cheaper than Adelaide south Australia like $3.50 for 5 celery sticks $2 for a cucumber $1.50 for one ear of corn even the fruit was cheaper, keep in mind most fresh produce comes from within 15km of me crazy I’d have those prices
I can't figure out prices for food and other items either. You'd think our gasoline would be the cheapest here with the oil pipeline but it's definitely not. I have dreams of riding a scooter or motorcycle around Australia some day. Take care and thanks for the comment.
Go for it, definitely a change of environment to state the obvious. Half the year is winter here, might sound good coming from Florida. Let me know how it works out. Take care.
Nice to know that the prices are low in Alaska and pretty close to everywhere else I’ve seen and not too expensive. Why the sad music? Everything looks great and at a good price! I’d shop there. I’ll keep this place in mind for if I visit the area. Thanks!
Frutas e verduras aqui no Brasil são baratas devido a demanda ser menor do que a procura e a produção ser muito grande, produzimos para exportar para vários países ... parabéns pelo vídeo ...
I'm very surprised how low the prices are for a store in Alaska. Some prices I've seen at other locations are shocking for mainlands like myself. Do Alaskan natives view the cost the loving in your state expensive or just normal?
Anchorage prices are probably the lowest in the state. Venture into some remote villages accessible only by plane and of course the prices skyrocket. Thanks for the comment and take care.
I always do my grocery shopping at the Walmart neighborhood market here in california so I know the prices really well. I did notice that the walmart super center i went to in July in Anchorage the prices were a little more for the same products i buy regularly here in cali, but not much.
Danny Hoyt keep playing your ps4 and COD have you ever been outside of your own state or even outside of the usa !? I bet not because your full of shit or a broke ass
This is the most deserted Walmart I have ever seen. So what happens to perishable foods that are left over because people can't afford to buy them ????? Thats ALOT of wasted food. JS
Hate to say fellow Alaskan you got it pretty good in anchorage.your not out in the Bushand not in barrow.or nome.were prices are triple.as bread 8.75 a loaf Milk 10.00 bucks One avocado 5.oo bucks Colors bleach 10.00 bucks.one apple 4.99.so be greatful.barrow.nome.could use a walmart.
I don't get it? It's practically the same price in Toronto ? And what's the difference btwn USA And Canada dollar? 25cents?(2018.january; reference if you see this in the future);
Doesnt AK have those fabulous huge cabbages to make kim chi with? Here in NW fla it gets so hot that many things are diffic ult to grow but collards might make it, the bugs are ferocsous tho. but when they lace up the leaves of the collards, the collard, if watered dont die and come back OK. at least in my little micro climate. some basil and tomatoes can make it well but you have to hand pick off the very destructive tomato hornworm. i had a lady film them and the amazing only day flying huge Sphink Moth which is what a tomato hornworm grows up to me and told us in a presentation to let the worms eat our tomatoes. well, no, they can eat hers but whatever they used to eat before my tomato plants were bought , planted at a l ot of work and expense, that is what they will have to do as they dont pay rent and they cant stay here. Lots of people in fla with lots of money and no common sense at all. If you want to retire here, you have to get used to that and no longer be disgusted or surprized. Its not all bad tho.
I didn't think they were outrageous my self. Anchorage has several grocery stores so competition and being on a barge route helps. Thanks for the comment and take care.
Hawaii gets hit with high prices for everything (food, housing, etc.). I have a couple of co workers who moved here from Hawaii. They said they were working 2 to 3 jobs just get by and they move up here and 1 job is sufficient. Thanks for the comment.
hi again john i see here walmart i was like HUH!!!! those prices didn't sound correct is this really walmart in alaska only place that cheap priced items are in lower 48 states and was told hawaii and alaska is much higher price say bananas i see right here in your video says .78cents each and others near it say like $2,00 or something i am like wait a min not alaska a girl that lives up there in anchorage said oh no no its not down here from NC to southwest states like arizona texas is cheaper price walmart than alaska she said its much higher milk she said was like $9.00 a gallon and butter $8.00 at least clothes are like anywhere from $40 and higher for shirts or jeans etc very very high price so i dont know i never been to anchorage and visit walmart there what can you tell me about walmart in anchorage area i know they say they got 3 walmart stores there too... i think you are doing an awesome job with this walmart video that will help those who are considering thinking about living in alaska what they can see and look for in pricing in difference to other grocery stores in achorage, great work many thanks
Because Anchorage is where most of the population is, we have cheaper prices than almost everywhere else in Alaska. The $9 for milk and $8 for butter would more than likely be in any of our villages. The village I worked in for a few days a case of water was about $40. But Anchorage is similar to a normal town in the lower 48, some things like fruit can be more expensive but generally everything kind of evens out in price.
Umm. YeAh a lot of stuff there is way more than our WM in GA. I noticed milk says it’s low price there lol. I get my gallon of milk for $1.07. The French bread from bakery is 99 cents here. I see tax is more on that there.
I had to stop this video 21 minutes in. The prices that you are paying at Walmart in Alaska aren't much different than folks are paying in southwest Ohio, with the exception of the fresh produce section. (.68 cents for an orange & $5 for a bag of greens! folks would riot! lol jk) The 1 thing I did notice about your walmart, was the lack of crazy, half dressed meth heads & bedbugs. I would gladly pay extra for such a peaceful visit to a walmart anywhere near Middletown Ohio!
this is excellent: no talking, no stupid faces trying to be cute. just information.
Thanks.

@@mayaandjohn why is food expensive in Alaska?
Thinking of moving to Alaska! This help me so much!!! Thank you!!! Many blessings!!🤗🌿
Moving from where if you don't mind me asking? Let me know if you have any questions about life up here. Take care.
Maybe this will shock you... Puerto Rico....summer all year🏖🌊🌴🌺😬
@@mayaandjohn thank you!!! 🙏
I'm also thinking of moving to Alaska from Maine. I've been watching a lot of these videos trying to figure out just how expensive life in Alaska really is.
I went to Anchorage, they have pretty much a lot of what most other places have. Including a mall. I enjoyed it there.
Too bad Alaska doesn't have an amusement park
Even in alaska walmart keeps prices low
Food is expensive here in Arizona. This video was in 2017 and believe me the meat prices are less than what we paid last year. This year meat prices are off the charts.
Prices are very close to Las Vegas NV.
Thanks for the information. Would you recommend Las Vegas as a retirement location? Take care.
No real difference than in the lower 48.
Honestly not to bad of prices considering. Seems like they just charge accordingly for the extra transport costs and that's it.
I agree, most things aren't too bad when you take everything into consideration. Take care.
Ronnie Romero I would think Alaska Wal-Mart would be much more
Thanks for the great video AJ ...... been a while since you did shopping video and this one by far is the best ...... detail and pricing were much clearer than in your previous ....... how about another new one of Three Bears Alaska ..... i wish walmart near my home this empty..no crazy people
It was recorded early in the morning so the crazy people were still sleeping or in their drug induced coma. We have plenty of crazies up here.
You read my mind !!!!!
i wish walmart near my home this empty..no crazy people. I LOVE IT!
This is Walmart after it was renovated .... I use to work across the street from there and lived a mile away on LaTouche St..
The only thing I don’t like living here in Anchorage is the price of Snow Crabs. $19lb was a shocker compared to $7.99-$11.99lb in Florida.
Anchorage is gonna have cheaper prices since it's a large city. The rural towns are the ones where you'll be paying tripled the price
These prices are not that bad at all. Its just like shopping at Whole Paycheck Supermarket, often even better prices considering that many of these products are shipped from thousands of miles away. Whole Paycheck should be put under price control for overpricing! I lived in Hawaii and prices are almost identical.
These prices are lower then FLORIDA! check out Barrow Alaska, Shocking!
I have to be a millionaire to live here!!
But that is my dream to visit there.
connie keane
These prices are lower then FLORIDA! check out Barrow Alaska, Shocking!

hi CK...
what city in
Good to see them up there. My nephew is stationed up there.
Either go hunting for your own or purchase the ON SALE items and fill your freezer after properly avoiding freezer burn with a food saver machine.

Considering taking a job in Anchorage. What advice do you have for a lifelong Florida man?
Go for it, definitely a change of environment to state the obvious. Half the year is winter here, might sound good coming from Florida. Let me know how it works out. Take care.
You should check out the prices here in Sydney Australia. You think that's expensive, that's nothing. In fact, I would love to see prices here.
Nice to know that the prices are low in Alaska and pretty close to everywhere else I’ve seen and not too expensive. Why the sad music? Everything looks great and at a good price! I’d shop there. I’ll keep this place in mind for if I visit the area. Thanks!

I tell you what, if you watch this without focusing on the prices, totally different video. Thanks for this
Some of those prices are comparable to the prices in PUBLIX here in the Orlando Florida area
Prices aren’t bad . I m a seafood lover how expensive is it there?
So did your Wal-Mart in Alaska have Black Friday?
They did, I was working and wouldn't have went anyway because I don't like the crowds.
Thank you for this!!!!! Great help!!
I’m surprised the prices aren’t as high as I heard. The truth is there’s not much difference in price then where I live.
People say it's double the price lmao
Prices are getting close to there in northern Michigan due to corona
I'm very surprised how low the prices are for a store in Alaska. Some prices I've seen at other locations are shocking for mainlands like myself. Do Alaskan natives view the cost the loving in your state expensive or just normal?
Learn to grow veggies in the summer. It will save you money if you own your own place.
We had quite an extensive garden last summer with cabbage, cauliflower, peas, etc. We had so much we shared with family and friends.
Not as bad as I thought! Some of the produce was a bit worse for wear.
Anchorage prices are probably the lowest in the state. Venture into some remote villages accessible only by plane and of course the prices skyrocket. Thanks for the comment and take care.

Also I cant believe how much variety your Walmart has! In Manitoba we dont have half the produce you have.
Rip-off Canada... Not only prices are more expensive, less than half the selection as well. More of a lose-lose.
Walmart in my city is so busy. I’m just not use to seeing an empty Walmart store.
Dude these are basically Florida prices! Florida sucks! This coming from a Florida Man 😬
The prices are the same as the Walmart in Texas
No way.
Where at in Texas ? I live in east Texas prices way lower ..
Danny Hoyt im sure they are you muppet fuvkwit so just stfu
Danny Hoyt and the six muppets that liked your sad comment are fucking more retarded for liking it
Danny Hoyt keep playing your ps4 and COD have you ever been outside of your own state or even outside of the usa !? I bet not because your full of shit or a broke ass

Pretty similar to Washington prices. There will always be some differences in items, but nothing shocking for me here.
Good to know, thanks for the comment.
potatoes for .98 and ground beef 10lb for 21...thrown in eggs, salmon and halibut...I am good to go.
Prices are about the same in Virginia. Thanks for the cool video.
Good to know, take care sir.
Who is the 10 year old playing piano?🎹🎹🎹nice of u to give ur daughter some air time 👍
$1.24 for bread? that's 24 cents too much.
The Wal-Mart where I live charges only 88 cents for bread
Prices for many things are cheaper than most Australian supermarkets. Except bananas & milk.
I appreciate the comment. I have been thinking about the motorbike ride around Australia someday. Take are.
I think NYC is more expensive and they don't have walmart
Same as here in northern California
That's the average prices at a store I shop at just east of Toronto, Ontario.
Close to what ours are here in the Midwest
Same as Ohio. Can you get beer there? Are the women as cold as the air temperature?
Hate to say fellow Alaskan you got it pretty good in anchorage.your not out in the Bushand not in barrow.or nome.were prices are triple.as bread 8.75 a loaf

Doesn't make any sense, hard to figure out prices sometimes.
About the same prices here in New Brunswick Canada
Good to know, thanks for the info. and take care.
Thanks for the info
How the heck is food that cheap there. Up north in Canada its double, in some places 5x those. Even in MB I've never seen watermelon below $7
The same prices as we pay here in California.
8 or 9 bucks loaf of bread a can of Pepsi almost 2 bucks ⛽️ can be 10 to 15 bucks a gallon hardly fresh vegetables ever
I would stock up here
which anchorage store was that
Check the description.
well there are 3 walmart in Anchorage just curious which one
never mind I see on Seward highway
The description clearly states the Walmart on Old Seward.
Lowkey i thought the prices were gonna be higher ($5 for produce at least)
Believe or not. Those prices looks like Miami.
Thanks for the comment. I was just visiting some Florida real estate websites thinking about warmer weather as our weather turns cooler. Take care.
Its over 18.00 for a pineapple in nunavut canada

Is Walmart cheap
That's all relative, cheaper than some but more expensive than others I believe.
This Price is much Lower than any state of America...and why so much Alaskan Resident compailn so much??
rodrigo tolentino because this video just counts for Anchorage. Other cities in Alaska have very high prices for food
hi again john i see here walmart i was like HUH!!!! those prices didn't sound correct is this really walmart in alaska only place that cheap priced items are in lower 48 states and was told hawaii and alaska is much higher price say bananas i see right here in your video says .78cents each and others near it say like $2,00 or something i am like wait a min not alaska a girl that lives up there in anchorage said oh no no its not down here from NC to southwest states like arizona texas is cheaper price walmart than alaska she said its much higher milk she said was like $9.00 a gallon and butter $8.00 at least clothes are like anywhere from $40 and higher for shirts or jeans etc very very high price so i dont know i never been to anchorage and visit walmart there what can you tell me about walmart in anchorage area i know they say they got 3 walmart stores there too... i think you are doing an awesome job with this walmart video that will help those who are considering thinking about living in alaska what they can see and look for in pricing in difference to other grocery stores in achorage, great work many thanks

Bread same price as PUBLIX.
Same prices here in CALIFORNIA even higher here
PERIKAZO_RUIZ Ruiz sorry hi
That's not much higher than in rural-ish Wisconsin.
Things look about right.unlike some scalpin sob i saw in another video
They act like there no good food in Alaska stores or they always running out of food 🤷♀️🤷♂️
same as acme in south jersey
Can they grow vegs in a greenhouse there?
Sure, just have to get past the heat and lighting bills which would raise the prices dramatically.
Yes I had not thought of that.Bummer.
nice work.
Its depressing. How does anyone afford any of that?
Umm. YeAh a lot of stuff there is way more than our WM in GA. I noticed milk says it’s low price there lol. I get my gallon of milk for $1.07. The French bread from bakery is 99 cents here. I see tax is more on that there.
Only a buck for milk!?!?! I wish lol I pay $6
prices are almost identical to here in artesia. nm
Good to hear. How do you like living in NM? I'm always checking of some snow bird or retirement locations for the future. Take care.

The Population of Alaska in full is 700,000+ people so yeah it's gonna be empty

And do Tha Lord and Tha love there's coming end Tha lamb and Tha Lord is in and Tha heart and Tha people sunny god bless you
Thanks for the blessing, can never have too many of those.
