I watch this performance and hold back tears because the song describes her perfectly, a strong pure white diamond. I feel so blessed to have been a fan for so long.
Just over 12 months prior to this concert, her Showgirl World Tour was suddenly cancelled. Kylie was diagnosed with breart cancer. She returned for this concert and it was called her Homecoming Showgirl concert at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne Australia. When she appeared in that costume, she stood there for sbout a minute and a half just absorbing the crowds loving applause. Many people in the audience cried with joy and there was rapturous applause from the crowd including my wife snd I. I now own the DVD and shed a tear each time I see her appear on stage. She was back doing the one thing she loves, performing for people to give them joy. White Diamond was written by Kylie and the Scissor Sisters. They are good friends and the song is about Kylie, The White Diamond. Is why she is pointing to the audience while singing it as she was unsure whether she would return to the stage ever again. She also learned that she could not have children anymore and she wrote "Flower" while she was going through chemo. Lyrically it is one of the most touching and emotional songs I have ever heard. It is a fan request song but you can see she gets sad while singing it. If you get s chance, watch her perform that song live during her X Tour in 2008. She is in a beautiful long blue dress and looks up most of the time while singjng the song. When she ends the song and the audience applaud her, she just quietly says thanks. Not in the normal Kylie style! Very sad for her. The song is about the child she hopes to meet one day. I well up for her when she sings it each time! Thanks for doing your reaction and is very timely actually as I just watched the Homecomung Tour DVD last week. Brilliant concert and given she was still unsure of her recovery at that time, made the whole thing even more incredible and heartwarming. I do think it probably made her more determined than ever to make, making music her destiny and her life. I watched this concert in person twice, it was amazing from start to finish, she all the costumes redesigned for the comeback after her treatment as she said she couldn’t wear the original ones anymore as they reminded her of being sick, she also added an interval and changed some of the songs out and the choreography as she was still recovering from her treatment, if you get the chance, you should watch her documentary called white diamond, shows her journey of the comeback tour
The ballad version of White Diamond has been performed more times than the original. It totally changes the poignancy of the lyrics. It’s about survival and endless support of loved ones. Worth checking out the Documentary of the same name x
you should check on both full showgirls shows. the one before and after her diagnosis. i was there for showgirl 1 in hamburg and it as amazing. she peformed in 7 or 8 acts with different themes and it was amazing. amazing amzing amazing haha

But check out Party In The Park from 2000, where torrential rain caused Kylie’s in ear monitors to stop working and she couldn’t hear the music being played, she was singing about half a second behind the tempo of the songs. Probably, one of Kylie’s most trying performances, but she carried on like a trouper.
i remember reading that the corset in the blue costume of the og tour she got down to a 16 nch waist. don't know if it's true.i think her waist is naturally 23 inches. i wonder how much the costume weighes esp when she's doing this after the cancer. if you look at the earrings you will see they're attached to the headress (back and front of her ear)not her actual ears.
