  • We are taught by the media how essential it is to make healthy decisions for our body, but what about our brains? This week, Rachel talks about the importance of caring for and learning about mental health just as much as physical. Also, Rach tries a Pinterest trend she saw, and it really takes the cake.

I’ve invested in better food for my body and more down time for myself to regroup my mental health.

Last year I started grad school and found that I was getting random constant stomach pains and nausea that would keep me up at night from all the stress and anxiety school caused. I tried everything to get them to stop but they kept occurring. I decided to quit eating gluten and dairy, and found that they went away. Best decision I've ever made.

Hey Rachel! Love this section on mental health and Dr. Amen! I love amino acids for the brain. Neurotransmitter testing is available at naturopaths and can also tell you a lot about what is going on in your brain - maybe you’ve tried that. 🥰❤️

I bought a second hand patio set for our back yard, so I can get back to sitting outside in the mornings to drink my coffee or read my book/write in my journal!

I gave up formalized boot camp, we purchased a treadmill last year so I have dedicated time to walking & weights at hone. I’m really enjoying the change. I’m not sure women over 50 need to kill themselves at boot camp. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But the change is working for me & aligns we’ll with my new job.

I started walking last year outside (most days - even when it's cold) and I added strength training and yoga this year. I'm feeling so much better! I'm happy I started small. Thanks for a great Rach Talk!

We invested in a share of CSA this summer and every Friday a box of fresh farm grown veggies shows up at our door stop, such a great thing especially during the summer busy months!

This is actually the past two years, but it was hard during 2020 so I’m counting it. 8/5/19 I got gastric sleeve surgery (I had been small my whole life but psych meds made me gain 100lbs at age 20… I’m 35 now)… got off the bad meds but couldn’t get the weight off. Since surgery I have lost basically exactly 100lbs (I bounce between 135-145lbs, I’m 5’3”) and I love myself again. Now trying to add in that movement now that I’m fully vaccinated! Went to an aerial yoga class which was amazing. Loving Yoga and Pilates. Thanks for reading y’all.

Age-related hormone changes is my guess for the change in focus. My ability to focus has changed dramatically from age 26 to 46.

Hi Rach- love the genuine straight talk about brain scans! Your funny light hearted content always makes my day! But also love some of this deeper dive stuff too:)

Hello, I've been waiting for the follow up about your brain scan. I have watched episodes with Dr. Amen. I have seen episodes with people who've fallen and had damage. I've seen episodes where people have had addiction. Autism.
Things like that. However, I've had lots of trauma and I understand how challenging it is for me to get to a point of understanding of something. I enjoy learning. However, certain things feels like I can not keep hold of the information.
I was curious what other things could a brain scan show. If you don't have persay damage from falling.
Thank you for sharing all that you do. It does help some of us to not feel like we are in this life on our own.

I loved this video about the brain. I felt like Rachel, you are back!!! But I have to say…. Going back and forth from teaching to a cute Pinterest cake or wardrobe ideas makes it hard for me to follow you. I would ask for whoever is editing to please stick with one subject then move on to the next. And I say this with much love. If you continue this I’ll keep watching just asking because it’s hard for me to focus

Wait first of all is she using box cake mix?!?!?! How embarrassing 😳. Also MRIs of the head are freaking expensive and most people can't afford them even when they have a legitimate reason to get one let alone just decide to pay out of pocket for one. What did I invest in? My damn health insurance premiums count? Because that is a big expense for me. She is so unrelatable. . . . ..... Nevermind I forgot.
