A 30DDD will be a slender woman with very prominent breasts for her size. A 40A will be a big woman with flat breasts that have a broad base. Their actual breast volume will be the same. 30DDD (or E or DD or F depending on the naming system) has the same volume as a 40A. Just a different shape. 34C = 36B. You go up/down an equal amount of bandsizes as you go down/up cupsizes and the volume will be the same. 30D = 38A (4 bandsizes up 4 cupsizes down), 36A = 32C (2 bandsizes down 2 cupsizes up) ...

If a 36A = 32C then the cup letter doesn't illustrate a good picture of what size the breast actual is which is kinda what I meant. I don't mean its random or total nonsense in and of itself but people tend to obsess and borderline fetishize the cup letter especially the D cup when it doesn't accurately tell you much by itself since its relative to the band size. "Not to mention in general its pretty average" Plus different countries have different bra sizing systems which makes it more confusing. like in Europe a 32DD would be a 70E which sounds decently big if your looking at the Cup letter E but its just average.
Also other factures like height and build can also make the cup size appear bigger or smaller in comparison like a shorter woman with D or DD will appear larger looking then a taller or muscular/buff woman with broader shoulders with the same DD will seem smaller. So its rather relative.
Also I think a lot of men don't actually know the number is the band size and think a higher number equals larger breasts, so they would think a 36 DD would be much bigger then like a 30 DD lol
