I’m sure there has to be SOME way to get the Zune to work. There’s always a community for things like this. Even if it’s running a separate Open Source Firmware like Rockbox. I had an iRiver iHP-120 that was SO chunky and durable. Basically a laptop HDD with an MP3 player and battery built around it as the case. Loved that thing and put Rockbox on it a few times. Since it doubled as an external HDD it was perfect for all my video production and graphic design classes in college.
I still own my 2nd Generation ZUNE 80gb. It was so much better made than the original version. Still works but barely holds a charge anymore. Tempted to order a replacement battery that I found on Amazon. But I don't use it anyway.
I feel retroactively justified in my choice of the iPod over Zune due to the fact that it's still usable to this day. I was and still am a PC user, never owned anything else Mac but still got a 6th gen iPod Classic as my only MP3 player (until last year when I bought an old iPod mini). I'm still using it to this day, and actually modified it to use a 5th gen Video's back and an 1800 mAh battery.
Actually the zune is usable to this day I have 2 of em and work on windows 7 8 and 10 just have to get the firmware which there is a fansite that has all that and shows you how to install it
So I have the Zune HD and with some work put in with installing packages and drivers directly from people that preserved those files, you can activate the software and troubleshooter on Windows 10 pro to get anything straightened out to use your Zune again ^.^ I use it as my D&D ambient/boss music player lol

They're totally is. There's a hacked library app that doesn't need to download the stuff and already has it all locally
