They look the same, but they each have their own sound. I personally preferred the DK10 to the DK12. The Blues Jr. uses EL84 tubes, so is really a different amp altogether than the Delta Kings. EL84's are typically more associated with Marshall than Fender, but I'm a fan. I preferred the Blues Jr. out of these 3 amps. I was able to get some great tones out of the Delta King 10, but it was pretty finicky. I felt like sometimes it would sound great, and then the next time I'd plug into it (without changing any setting), it would sound quite different. - I think the Blues Jr is a very underrated amp.
Great lil amp. Have the Blues King 12 (15W) and Love it. Only negative, not a fan of the knobs as they're a bit hard to read from a far. Look at these and it's the same. Black knob with a white tiny slash to show where you are. Easy fix, swapped out for Chicken Head Knobs and much easier to see your settings, look great too. This Delta King 10 is a real nice option for a small home tube amp for the price.
Looks so cool. When I was a teenager, in the 1970s, I got my first electric guitar (an SG copy) and amp. The amp was a Noble accordion amp. Yep, it actually said that. I found out later, they were made by Ampeg. At the time, the “cool” stuff was all black and made by Fender, but out of my price range, so I settled for an already old Noble tube amp. It looked much like this amp only in black and white. At some point, I got enough money to buy a Fender Blues Deluxe and I actually dropped that Noble off at a Salvation Army. MAN, what a mistake. I would give anything to turn back time and have that classic tube amp back in my possession. It would have needed some new tubes and caps, by now, but what looked dumb back then, is super cool now....
@Reid James my real issue was it was too powerful/loud for playing around the house. About the time I sold it, I bought and very good condition 1965 Fender (black faced) Champ. It was my first ever purchase on eBay and I bought it from a local guy, to make sure I didn’t get screwed, for $200. That is still my main amp, as I don’t gig, and I LOVE it! It was fabricated a couple weeks before my wife’s birthday, in January 1965. Wish I would have bought a dozen as they’re now selling for $1500 to $2300 on Reverb. Nice, simple, clean Fender tube amp. Love it.
Was hoping you would isolate the reverb. Nice little amp. My 60's Supro amp basically had the same wattage but was about 10 times bigger. Pretty impressive considering it is pushing about 0.04 amperes. Very economical on your electric bill.
I have this amp. Regarding the reverb, I get a terrible hum when reverb is turned up anywhere past 4~5. Add more master volume and it's unbearable. I've read that this is a design flaw with the reverb tank being too close to the tubes. Maybe this is the case maybe not, I'm not an amp expert. I do know that the hum/noise makes the reverb all but unusable.
@@robertburnes2285 would try adding a ground wire. There may be a small fuse inside that needs cleaned or soldered to make a good connection. Lol, Supro sends the same amp to some top guitar channels. THE SAME AMP... and people are complaining with conspiracies because experienced players (the RUclipsrs) have some of the same praises. ITS THE SAME AMP. Great sounds, Great looks, good prices. Nice review.
And we don't get fooled again no no. Wow,at first I thought Pete Townsend was there with you hehe.😆 man that little thing sounds great. Of course master Braun makes it sound incredible. I could listen to you play those clean tones all day.🎸🎶🎵😉
Where'd you get this, Darrell? Did you buy it? Is it on loan? From where? Did Supro give it to you? That's not really clear so I thought I'd ask. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's wondering about this. 🤷♂️ You really should be more straightforward about that and make it clear up front like Shane does @ InTheBlues. If something is on loan from a local store, he says so. If Fender or someone sends him something, he makes that clear. You're never left wondering who's behind it and what his motives are for making the video.
I've never seen him give a less than favorable review for any product.. Judging by the URL provided by his links we can only deduce that he's being sent gear for review and doesn't want to speak badly about product losing traction with those vendors. Perhaps however, he's attempting to allow us all to make up our own minds. I will say i do own the Delta King 10 and it IS an awesome amp, very studio oriented which is cool. Not really the choice for live playing if you need channel switching and all that. You're supposed to dial a tone in and be happy with that until a set break or something. But I do agree, sometimes I just don't really like the lack of details and non-disclosure that seems to be prevalent here. SHOULD have been a three band at this price point tbh. The gain - Yeah, this amp should have a way to control the amount of drive in relation to level, not just a switch for GO or STOP. Ditto for boost, but then, it would be a $7-800 amp I suppose. But if you're going to put it in there, don't make it a static amount that the user can't control.
DB you do a fab job of demoing equipment of all stripes. It would have been nice to hear a single coil guitar, but the LP does an appropriate job of demonstrating what the amp is capable of. Thanks for the great review!
The clean channel at the end could have been a LOT better Darrell...one short scale didn't cut it for me pal. Regardless, $450 to $650..depending on size seems like a lot of money for a 5 watt amp. I don't really care for the design, and I find the color hideous. LOL..but hey..that's just me. I do like the black and silver ones though.😁 I do agree with others that a test with both a LP and a Strat would have been nice to hear...but all in all I think you did a very good quick review. But then..you always do!😁👍✌️
I'll be watching to pick one of these up on Black Friday. Supro tends to heavily discount the less popular amps of the year by then. They release new stuff every year so, each of these amp can be considered a limited run (save for a few like the Black Magick which is probably their most popular amp). I got a ridiculous deal on a 50 watt Titan plus its cab a few years back for less than $700 for the set. Same on a Supreme 1600. Both are amazing!
I love those tones. Being a guy who plays small venues 50 - 150 a 5-10 watt amp is essential. I was disappoint about the DI as a great DI can really make life easy in a live setting. Does it just need a speaker simulator like something from radial engineering?
Dig the looks; no reason all amps can’t have both form & function like this. As an aside, don’t know how you could possibly classify what you played as “Old school blues”...
@@TheElrondo Re-branded? Lol. It's made in China. It's literally a copy of the Laney CUB12R circuit. Not like Monoprice is really a "brand" to begin with. Not that that's bad either. I own the original Monoprice 5W. Great amp.
Hey, have you played a Laney super cub? My only amps a 195(9?) magnatone 213 and I need a new amp to use reliably for gigs and give the old beauty a rest in the studio only. If you have, any opinion on which of the two would be a better replacement? I’ve had my eye on both but haven’t been able to try one yet. I’d need to get a vibe pedaleither way because I can no longer live without it. It’s become like reverb to me now. Always on. So cool.
How about the construction? Are we looking at mdf or some sorta ply? Are the tubes mounted directly to the main pcb or are they attached via daughter board ala the blues jr?
I want one, but not at that price point. I like the roughness of it's tones. However, I just got me a cheapo Monoprice 5 watter Champ-ish clone, and it's got roughness in spades. Well worth the price for that little guy. No features, but it's for the studio anyway. I wish the Supro had a second volume for the Gain setting so you could keep 'gain' and 'normal' at the same levels (make it a two channel amp with both channels in unity) and use boost for soloing. As it is now, both of the footswitchable features give you a volume jump. I couldn't make as much use of the features live, because of this. Its one fatal flaw.
Is this a brand new amp?! Why does it have that nasty hum? My blues jr does the same exact thing but only when I have the reverb cranked. Although it is a '98 USA made
Love the lead play and style you put in you videos ( great )! Amp sounds great with LP, was that you pick or just luck? Prices? Cool boxes for the old school players, do they just make an head unit? I would LOVE to see a video of a few of the guitar melody lines you use some of them are beautiful man, I’m like I hear my next song in there lol makes me want to play guitar, all my band members are gone now they were all older than me so I just listen, learn, and keep calluses keeps me with meaning the feeling of not quitting.👍
How loud is it when you get into the creamy saturated tones? I generally haven’t had luck with getting good tones from tube amps at true bedroom levels.
When the saturation occur on end stage of amp, then 1W SE amp with 8 inch speaker screams like a devil. I am now playing with amp I built and to obtain bedroom levels just connect speaker thru resistor divider with 5W resistors cut down power to about 1/10.
When you called these a competitor to the Blues Junior I laughed. I was expecting these to be >$1k, if not $2k. But $450-650 is pretty amazing. SUPRO stuff is usually fairly pricey. Where are they making these things?
Sounds good but miss my Blues Jr. Diamond '06, $400 otd. Floor model didn't work. This was out of a box new. People said it was a speaker change away from being a great amp. Linked a worn in Celestion G12 35 and not enough to swap. Vol controls were jumpy, though. Great in a shop. Hours got cut and it went. still cranky. Some one said the best selling tube amp of all time. Hard act to follow..

I did it as a weekend project, ended up selling my Swart and Dr Z combos. End of the day the upgraded blues Jr sounded as good as my boutique amps and cost half the price. If the amp ever blows all I need to do is buy another blues Jr head for a few hundred and I'm back in business. Boutique amps, when they blow they cost alot more to repair.
@@williamb4652
In other words save yourself the work and buy a used Deluxe Reverb Reissue.
@@charlesbolton8471 Thats what I'm sayin'.
A good amp for home use.
I think it sounds great! Great video, good job.
Lol, Supro sends the same amp to some top guitar channels. THE SAME AMP... and people are complaining with conspiracies because experienced players (the RUclipsrs) have some of the same praises. ITS THE SAME AMP. Great sounds, Great looks, good prices. Nice review.
This guy gets it.
And we don't get fooled again no no. Wow,at first I thought Pete Townsend was there with you hehe.😆 man that little thing sounds great. Of course master Braun makes it sound incredible. I could listen to you play those clean tones all day.🎸🎶🎵😉
Amp looks cool and sounds sweet!
My Vox AC4 is looking lonely. Perhaps the 12 inch version of this Supro will fit in nicely. Great vid!
I just wrapped up a repair on the reverb model. Very disappointed by the quality of construction and design decisions made.
Great Amp. Got one.
I’d like to see a modeling amp shoot out I’m a simple man I like to have all the tones in one box
I would be buying this but I'm Holding out for the new Fender 5-watt 68' Vibro Champ reissue.
no master volume - no fun in a bedroom )
DB you do a fab job of demoing equipment of all stripes. It would have been nice to hear a single coil guitar, but the LP does an appropriate job of demonstrating what the amp is capable of. Thanks for the great review!
Single coils would be good too. Thanks!
The question is: is this enough for playing in the local with a blues rock trio?
The clean channel at the end could have been a LOT better Darrell...one short scale didn't cut it for me pal.
Regardless, $450 to $650..depending on size seems like a lot of money for a 5 watt amp. I don't really care for the design, and I find the color hideous. LOL..but hey..that's just me. I do like the black and silver ones though.😁
I do agree with others that a test with both a LP and a Strat would have been nice to hear...but all in all I think you did a very good quick review. But then..you always do!😁👍✌️
Great demo
Man, that sounds awesome!
Darrell, I love your honest reviews..... keep em comin!
Just got a Delta King 12 for $449 on Guitar Center
@@chocokrispisconleche This aged ridiculously well hahahaha
@@lammyjammer6670 look for the guitar center all black edition, it is still up at $449. The delta king 12 that is
@@chocokrispisconleche I was eyeing the 8 inch model since it's at $329 right now but this is a much better deal.
@@lammyjammer6670 yeah brother, it is a way better deal
I love those tones. Being a guy who plays small venues 50 - 150 a 5-10 watt amp is essential. I was disappoint about the DI as a great DI can really make life easy in a live setting. Does it just need a speaker simulator like something from radial engineering?
I like this very much!
Dig the looks; no reason all amps can’t have both form & function like this. As an aside, don’t know how you could possibly classify what you played as “Old school blues”...
Good back up amp for blues jr.tweed
This video came at the right time for me! Thanks DB! BTW, Is this paid content?
If you like the Blues Junior, you would LOVE the Monoprice 15w amp....$249. The 1/5watt is only 115.
And Thomann sells it in EU rebranded as Harley Benton Tube 15 for 235€
@@TheElrondo Re-branded?
Always on. So cool.
Sounds great 👍
How about the construction? Are we looking at mdf or some sorta ply? Are the tubes mounted directly to the main pcb or are they attached via daughter board ala the blues jr?
thanks for a useful review!
Where’s the Strat and Tele?
That is the coolest looking amp!
If you plain on keeping it you can add some white paint to the tone controls those little white dots don't cut it ,yes i saw that you did that.
what mic are we using? I would like a demo with a 57 or 609
I want one, but not at that price point.
Maybe the Drive and Boost switches would have more effect if you didn't start with the volume dimed. How's the reverb?
Is this a brand new amp?! Why does it have that nasty hum? My blues jr does the same exact thing but only when I have the reverb cranked. Although it is a '98 USA made
Since i got my vox ac10 i love 10 in speakers for guitar. Cuts through a band
Hey Darrell, can the phones and power amp in be used as an fx loop?
Try the Blackstar HT5R
When you called these a competitor to the Blues Junior I laughed. I was expecting these to be >$1k, if not $2k. But $450-650 is pretty amazing. SUPRO stuff is usually fairly pricey. Where are they making these things?
China.
As usual, great video. Could you do another through this amp playing your G&L or a fender telecaster?
Appreciate your review on the Supro Delta King. What do you think about Supro blocking a quarter of the speaker with the cabinet facing?
Sounds good but miss my Blues Jr. Diamond '06, $400 otd.
Floor model didn't work. This was out of a box new.
People said it was a speaker change away from being a great amp. Linked a worn in Celestion G12 35 and not enough to swap.
Vol controls were jumpy, though. Great in a shop.
Hours got cut and it went. still cranky.
Some one said the best selling tube amp of all time.
Hard act to follow..
It's a good amp for crunchy tones almost it seems like taking the place of your ex amp mesa boogie blue angel. As I remember, you had said that it has been gone. Right? :)
Its just a Blues King in a new jacket!
Was the reverb knob broken?
How was the reverb?
Having seen the 12" already demo'd, I thank you for reviewing the 10". Great little amp.
Beautiful Amp!
I do badly want you to try out Moollon guitars.
ever use this amp with the line out to a mixer for a live gig? using this as a "monitor"?
