The wife and I spent 30 years as North America's only husband and wife air show announciing team. Cut our teeth at it back in the 1990s at many warbird shows including the National Warplane Museum's "Wings of Eagles" shows near Rochester, NY. Based on what we saw during all those years, I offer congratulations on an incredible recreation of a P-47 air show demo. The flight profile was spot on...no herky-jerky movement. Smooth as a baby's butt! You are an outstanding stick and rudder guy! Thanks for the memories.
Bill thank you so much! I can't tell you how much it means to me that you took the time to comment. I'll bet I've heard you and your wife on an airshow video if not at an airshow. I love to fly models realistically. Scale flying is something I study by watching full scale videos to get a feel for movement, roll rate, timing, etc. I try to get it as close as I can. Your stick and rudder comment made me think of two guys...Bob Hoover and John Mohr. I've never seen anyone better then those two at managing energy. Thanks again. Glad you enjoyed it!
It's all your fault. I blame you! You did a demo of the E flite 1.2 P-47 some time ago, and made it look so good that I went ahead and got one. I knew FMS had this 1.5 version - but they had been out of stock for a very long time. So I gave up on trying for the FMS. Now, FMS has this back in stock but I have a problem with space and I already have 'Kansas Tornado II' and it is still doing fine. (316 flights at present) Wow, you both did such a great job with this 'scale' video. Being smooth on a scale flight really does it for me. I am sure old Robert S Johnson and his buds would have been very touched if they were still here to see something like this. I love the early morning setting. The fog is a bit like what they had at some of the English fields, and just a bit of sun glinting on the plane really looks great. Fabulous! I really look forward to more of your excellent 'Scale Flights' series!
Ha ha! Sorry, I'm a bad influence! Nice Jugs will do that...see what I did there...lol. I'm glad you are enjoying the 1.2 and so glad you enjoy our scale flight series! It is my favorite way to fly.
Great video, Adam and Heidi. What a fantastic foam Warbird that is from Fms!! Looks so real in the air!! Especially when being flown by an expert scale pilot, very enjoyable video 😀👍
Absolutely TOP NOTCH! I'll bet most people don't realize even your taxi out was scale! P-47's (and other warbirds) would "zig-zag" down the taxiway because they couldn't see over the nose! Very great conditions, loved the lighting personally, and smooth flight as usual. Of course, Heidi CRUSHED IT! Keep 'em coming brother, you guys are awesome!
Hi Adam and Heidi, best performance of a scale flight that I have ever seen including the camera work! I wish I was half that smooth. Please do a video on how to know when a model is properly balanced for cg, I think that that is my biggest problem. Thanks for all your hard work and great videos!🛫🛩❤
Wow, what a video! The complete dawn scenery was just breath taking. You got me from the very first minute and then this awesome slow, graceful scale takeoff. The lighting did the rest, perfectly captured by Heidi. What an amazing Team you are! The P-47 is an absolute eye catcher and also in my case, just the missing Hangar space prevents me from seriously considering to buy one. I can’t get over the reflections from the morning sun on the silver painting of the bird, diving it into shades of red as you are doing your rolls and maneuvers… what a joy to watch - thanks a lot, Adam and Heidi.
What a wonderful plane.. I need one of these. Just need to clear some room in the hanger... Adam that was a wonderful flight. My only negative about the video is not hearing your sultry voice noting the positive and negative characteristics of the plane, while performing those impressive maneuvers.. 😀
Your demo pilot did a great show. You have convinced me that I need this model. Now, like many others, I just have to find hangar space. Beautiful sunrise and super video Team AV8R!
What a beaut aircraft Adam! I did have the Razorback from E-Flite a few years ago & loved it. Just a great cockpit waiting for a camera eh. Excellent filming capturing this great pilot Heidi.🇺🇸🇦🇺✔️✔️✔️
Hey Adam I've got this model for Christmas but apparently although I'm 59 II can't open it until Christmas day 🙄 So I've watched all the P47 videos on utube and I honestly say that's the best flying demonstration of the model I've seen This isn't a compliment, just a simple statement of fact 👍
Impeccable flying (as always), Adam! You absolutely nailed scale flying of the Jug! Excellent scale takeoff right down the centerline, truly scale-appearing aerobatics & flybys, and a nice, by-the-book 3-point landing. 😎Reminded me of dad, along with airshows I've attended. Think I need one of these, since it doesn't look like Eflite's gonna do a 1.5m bubbletop anytime soon.
Thank you so much Joel. That means a lot coming from you. I suspect you're more knowledgeable on P-47's than any modeler out there. It had to be awesome hearing your dads stories of flying the Jug. This one is the best one I've flown yet.
Yes, it was great hearing the stories from dad. But the best was when mom, my brother (B-52 instructor/pilot), and I got to go to one of the 345th Devilhawks reunions & meet a bunch of the pilots back when they were still sharp & remembered what it was like. Unfortunately, dad was already gone by then. But a son of one of the Devilhawks pilots decided to gather all of the pics he could from families of the pilots. That's where a number of the pics I've posted of Jugs flying home with half a wing missing, 20mm cannon hole in a prop-blade, cylinders shot off the engine, prop curled around the cowling, wing LE, cowling, and prop dented-up from flying through a small forest, and the Jug that landed with a 1000-lb bomb under the belly that blew up on touchdown but the pilot walked away came from.
That is great Joel. There is so much value in hearing the stories from the greatest generation. Not many of those brave boys left. Yes sir, the P-47 was one tough bird! Who would have ever thought the A-10 would end up being just as tough and earning the namesake.
Fantastic flying as always Adam. Another great video. I love my FMS 1.5m P-47 as well, just be aware that the wing plugs have been an issue for some of us. Mine worked great for a few dozen flights then my aileron quit on one wing, jiggle the plane and it works again then a few minutes later it quits again. I'll be getting rid of the plugs before I fly mine again. Best looking and best flying warbird in my hangar though 😁 Only thing it's missing is a scale diameter prop.
Thanks Chris! I wondered about the connectors. We'll see what happens. I agree on the prop, but I get why almost nobody does that. A lot of RC pilots don't use rudder very well if at all and with a low kv motor and scale prop they'd be in real trouble.
@@ModelAV8RChannel So true, but personally I'd rather see a manufacturer cater to the pilots who do know how to fly a warbird correctly. Imagine all the broken props, and all the comments in the forums asking which heading hold rudder gyro to get. 🙄 I'm tempted to buy a motor and prop from the 1700mm series and stick it in this one 😎
Excellent scale flight. Started flying again after almost 15 years and was amazed at what electrics and foam aircraft have become. Have a private grass RC strip near Atlanta motor speedway if you would ever want to fly here, not sure how far away you are.
Great flying, Looked very scale. This video was somewhat dark however due to time of day, Perhaps it may be my big screen T.V. but it didn't show off that sweet paint scheme very well.
Just in case someone hasn’t shared the canopy solution with you. Trick is to use a drill bit small enough to just barely fit into the exhaust tubes you can drill two small holes into the fuse that seem to negate the pressure causing canopy fly off occurrence with the speedy knife edge. It’s been perfect for me ever since. Favorite 1500 warbird for sure!
Great video. Question: do you have any advice of the most appropriate trainer plane for someone who wants to fly a war bird? Specifically the Flitework P-38. Thanks
Thanks. You will need to get the basics down first before you start flying warbirds, so any good trainer like an AeroScout, Apprentice, etc. will do fine for that.
I bet it would sound better rolling too. Thanks! Which ones fit? They are hard to find. Ohio Superstar carries some, but no pics to see how much is wheel and how much is tire.
The hub in the middle is small and you just need a sharp xacto to cut the middle of the foams right at the rim impression of the old rim there will be no sound with the foams .the two rim halfs are just pressed together with the foams Ohio has all sizes .

Thanks Tony!
Thanks for flying foam warbirds in a more scale like manner Adam We need more of that
Glad to do it. Love scale flying.
Adam fantastic flying and video. Will look for air show videos. I like the Razor back best. Jeff in LA USA
Thanks Jeff! I'm with you, I prefer the Razorback to the bubble top on a P-47.
Beautiful flight and model...nice vid !!!
Thanks man!
FMS nailed it. You nailed it. Even that lovely light and ground mist nailed it! And, guess what, Heidi nailed it!
Thanks man! Yes sir, great morning and Heidi rocks!
Adam. The P-47 is such a iconic warbird. Just such a pleasure to see you fly them scale. Hope all is still well with you and family. Take care. 👋😉
Thank you brother Brad! We're good. Blessed. Hope all is well with you and yours.
I have had this for a couple years. Love it. I put custom paint on mine. Parthena’s patriot. One of the best out of the box warbird models.

That flypast and climb out at 10:10 was just gorgeous Adam, I love the morning wildlife sounds as well, all very atmospheric 👍
Thank you Cliff!
If FMS could just put ball bearings on tailwheel it would sound better on rollout. Great Video!! Love mine as well
I may change the tail wheel to a Du Bro then oil it.
