Without Caution, These Guys Can Wreck Your Christian Walk

- While it's beneficial to use practical methods to improve our lives, we must recognize that God's word and the truth it contains are divinely designed to guide us in living our lives. Too often, our culture encourages us to look inward for salvation, rather than outward to the Lord for direction. Although self-help books by popular figures like Jordan Peterson, James Clear, Jocko Willink, and David Goggins can offer valuable advice, they ultimately leave us unfulfilled if our goal isn't to glorify God.

While self-help books by popular figures can provide useful advice, they often leave us unfulfilled if our ultimate goal isn't to glorify God. We’re introducing a new book that tackles sexual purity from a biblical perspective. Navigating these temptations can be overwhelming, but God's Word offers clear guidance for finding a way of escape. livingwaters.com/store/books/fight-like-a-man/
Look you all are Calvinist. So let's get real. If God is sovereign over all than this message and anyone drifting away from God or stealing or murdering as I type is because God made them. Right?! It's God's sovereignty forcing me. OR just like these men your speaking of who freely wrote these books and are sudo-christians, just like Catholicism, Mormonism, JW, Calvinism, it's something that is unbiblical and there for blasphemous and each person pushing it will have hell to pay for lying to everyone. True Christianity is TULIP acronym used in Calvinism or praying to saints and worshipping Mary or thinking you'll become a God one day and that Jesus Christ is a created being and/or the brother of Satan or angel. So let's get serious and understand those living waters leads many to Christ praise God!!! You also make many fall away with the ungodly belief of TULIP. Your no different than the men you warn us about. It's a wolf warning us about other wolves. We can start with a simple principal or two and when used see that Calvinism is false. In the Bible ALL means ALL. Stop claiming Jesus Christ didn't die for ALL MANKIND. Prove me wrong without any presumptions. 2ndly but there are more. Though Adam and Eve were dead in their sins what could they still do according to GODS WORDS? They could hear God, Speak to God as they did in Genesis. So please take the plank out of your own eye my friends. Preach the truth and not falsehoods.
How is it that we give glory to God?
To give glory to God is to reveal His character to the world.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
What is Righteousness?
Keeping His Commandments.
How Many Commandments?
Is it nine or ten?
If it is only nine, stop talking about ten, call it nine, and stop being a deceiver.
@@watchmanofthenight2700 Why would Living Waters only believe in nine?
@LivingWaters It is an exaggeration and a lie to say that these self-help book guys WILL destroy your Christian walk. And including Jordan Peterson's Book in the thumbnail among a list of condemnations is foolish. It comes off as jealousy. The crew even concluded with 10:35 "Use them at your discretion".
That was really powerful what Ray said at the end: "false Converse latch on to false teaching; The prodigal would love to go back to the father to get more money turn the father into his servant instead of becoming a selfless servant"
Very discerning and right on point!
Our Holy Bible with God's guidance is the best help we could ever want.
Does it teach me about bipolar?
Amen. The Book of Proverbs teaches you a lot.
I read it every day. But God also used these other books for pivotal roles in my life. “Cant stop me” gave me encouragement and inspiration to pursue military special operations at 32 years old. This led to intense physical training which is now a central habit in my life. It’s improved my mental well being as well as made me physically fit for my family and my boys. I started boxing when my enlistment was delayed. My toddlers started asking for boxing equipment. I got them gloves and a bag, they now mimic movements of boxers on TV. They are seeing grit and perseverance through these things. The book sparked change in my life and continues to.
12 rules for life and the biblical series by Peterson on RUclips has had a similar effect.
The Bible was the beginning for me. The words of Christ opened my understanding of all things, and it’s because of those words that I can grasp good things from all sources.
The idea that the Bible is the only book needed fails to acknowledge the fact that God is still at work in people, and still writing the story of peoples lives, and that God can inspire through these stories.
The Bible alone will not answer all the questions in your life. It will give you the resources to find those answers, but to ignore everything outside the Bible is to ignore what God is doing in the world today. And it’s certainty that he is alive and ready to be found. In History. In Literature. In paintings. In other people. In nature. In relationships. In politics. In all things God is there.

Be healed in Jesus Name.
@unknowntexan4570 Read Psalm 34 v 17-18.
Pray about your condition, ask the Lord for healing, trust him him with all of your heart. Believe that he has done it.
I had the same for many years, I prayed and prayed and prayed for his help and healing. I gave my life to Jesus 2 1/2 yrs ago, and he has been good to me, healed and happy as he is in me. The Bible doesn't say you will be happy and healed of everything and that life will be a bed of roses while we are on this earth it but When you give your life to Jesus Christ you have the heavenly hope, you will, when you get there have a new glorified body in which you will never be sick, depressed, hunger, thirst, feel pain or die, your tears will never return to your eyes. Fix your eyes on him and think of the day you will see him again. He loves you and wants you to be with him for eternity. I hope you are saved. If not, then do so ASAP.
Self Help Books are great, the same way doctors and psychologists and nutritionists are great. If I want to give glory to God and he shows me that I have to improve some aspects of my life he will use people that are smarter than me, he will help me find the right books and resources. The problem is when I idolize the source material.
Well said
Thanks for the clarity
Right. There are some good ideas and advices in them that you may choose.
But they aren't as great as the Holy Bible 🤔.
@@panachebosspana2386 If I want to learn about math, I will go to a math's textbook. If I want to lose weight I l learn about nutrition, If I need to get stronger, I learn that. You cannot atribute the bible skills and powers it was not meant to, you cannot read into scripture things it was not meant to. The bible is great to learn about GOD and each book needs to be read in context and with Spiritual understanding.
Secular self-help ultimately leaves people to better worship themselves.
Amen
It's behavior modification
I think these books can have its place in a Christian's life as long as the book doesn't claim to have all the answers. And the christian as well can't treat the book as a "master key" solution to the issues the book advises.
For example, I've read FBI's persuasion guide, and is deep down a book on how to be a better friend and persuade your friends through that. That book, made me realise tons of mistakes I was making in my evangelism efforts. I pretty much befriended ppl to debate them and convince them of christianity. I really do believe that God used a secular book to show me the bad friend I was being to my unbeliever friends since I never took any interest in their lives and struggles and goals. Once I changed that, I saw a massive difference on how I was looked at and how I could share the gospel more easily.
@@vitormenezesdemattos967 I can totally relate
I am not entirely opposed to people using those tools however it cant be the foundation nor the end result. As an emergency situation I can understand especially because so many people do not believe in Yeshua however like the man who had a demon cast out only to end up with 7 more worse that the first, these tools will leave you worse off in the end so they need the Holy Spirit. My point is if it saves their life so be it but someone has to lead them to Christ at some point.
"They said boy you just follow your heart. Well my heart just lead me into my chest.
They said follow your nose, but the direction changed every time I went and turned my head.
They said boy you just follow your dreams. Well my dreams are only misty notions.
But the Father of hearts and the Maker of noses, and the Giver of dreams is the One I have chosen
And I will follow Him." - Rich Mullins
AMEN! Love Rich Mullins and I love this song! Most of all, I love Lord Jesus and I will follow Him! :-)
So good
The books they refer jocko willink and jordan petterson actually tell you the opposite to challenge yourself and to suffer and to do hard things. Not follow your heart or whatever there talking about. Not sure if they read the books. There not self help books there more put discipline and structure in your life.
@@TheRealJmad I like those guys as well. What they promote are indeed good things that can help your life and that of others. Ultimately though, if you are not living for eternity and the glory of God your life would have been a waste in the sense that you concentrated on temporal, worldly things. They would not matter to God. Its better to live for God and His truth and live life to its full purpose.
People follow their hearts into adultery, divorce, and doing what makes them feel happy. :(
So true. It's when we exalt our thoughts and feelings and we call that God.... It's idolatry. New apostolic and word of faith teaching teach this which is not only dangerous but blasphemous. Pray for me to continue walking out of this!
Exactly chasing pleasure
Lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.
This is true.
We are told the heart is deceitful and wicked. We are fallen. I can tell you when i “followed my heart” i was led by emotions and desires. I had to subject that heart to the Lord, and to His written and revealed way of living.
So good, thank you gentleman. For years I was deep into the new age beliefs and bought dozens of self-help books. It's a hamster wheel that gets you only so far, with a lot of frustration and confusion. Two and a half years ago at 63, after I received some Divine Guidance, I started reading the Bible. I've read it every day since.
I burned or trashed all my other new age, self-help books.
Praise the Lord, I am so grateful for His Divine Guidance. I'm off the hamster wheel and have found freedom through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, He is, the way, the truth and the life!🙌🙏❤
Ditto❣️🙏🏽
It’s a rabbit hole that keeps getting deeper. I’m with you, I burned my books and tarot cards as well.
Amen Catherine! God Bless you as you continue to allow God and His Word to cleanse you, mold you, shape you and conform you unto His image ... John 8:36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed! Php 2:13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
Praise God! Christine, continue in Christ until the end! ✝️
Or you could be thankful to the Lord that he allowed you to discover such material that no doubtedly taught you many things over the years and led you to where you are now?
Best advice I ever received was from a youth group preacher 40 years ago. He told me to NOT follow my heart but instead DO what I know is right!
My heart and feelings change day to day, but what I inherently know is right and true never changes.
I’m assuming you are talking about following a conscience trained to know right and wrong by studying the Word of God and what you Know His Word says to be true? Thanks for sharing
@@pjfountaine7755lol I hope so
I had a very dysfunctional childhood and I’ve read dozens and dozens and dozens of self help books. Nothing helped. After I got a therapist, she suggested I keep a journal. Been there, done that and I feel ridiculous writing to myself at the end of the day. So I started keeping a journal that begins, “Dear Heavenly Father” My words are different and I have compassion for myself. This quiet time with Lord in prayer, gratitude, and giving Him my troubles, fears, worries and Glory made me see I only needed one book! I was seeking answers and on my walks with The Spirit I’ve learned I don’t need all the answers.
Thats interesting. Thank you for sharing!
I can relate to you so much
Amen to that
Glory to God! He led me to do the same! When I journal, it’s to Him!
Oh dear, I've also been journaling and it helped me at some point, but I now feel that I'm missing something. Your comment opened my eyes and I can't wait to journal this way!
After getting cheated on, I dove deep into self-help to try and fix the areas that led to my not being "good enough." It created a cycle of despair because the deeper I dug, the more I realized I could never be and do all of those things. I still struggle with feelings of inadequacy. I need Jesus.
No one will or can ever be good enough, because as the Bible says in Romans 3:23 "ALL come short of the glory of God"
The ONLY solution is to lay down our burdens on Christ (Matthew 11:28)
Take peace. He is working on you and in your life and will not abandon His work in you.
That, and for me, witchcraft (or as I called it "wiccan magiks"). Another version is trying to puzzle together some solution that is majorly of one's own power. Being able to access and use power that is not from the true source anyway.
YHWH. He is the Almighty and obviously we cannot be of both worlds. He gives us access to spiritual armor and His peace etc....He gifts us tools that are superior to any of these other ideologies, yet not even near as superior to His salvation alone.
But it's easy to be decieved and to be delivered if we get out of our own way. There can be a real hidden sense of pride that comes with shame and loss....I think it can be the counter-balance to being hurt. The Super Ego or even the Id. Desperation without Jesus easily leads to Savior complex whether it's for self or others. Since we are fallible it's ultimately fruitless.
We need to have the relationship with Jesus with the TRUTH to allow our full potential to help anybody. Still only so much we can do, but we are called to do it. To help others. The main, most vital part is to help others see the way. Jesus. 🙏🕊️💕 Shalom.
Any day with some Living Waters is a good day and a Godly day
💯Agree
Agreed wholeheartedly!!
"In self-help books, you are the hero of your own story." That really resonated with me. It sounds like self worship, like the king of Babylon in Isaiah 14 v 13, who said, "I will ascend."
That is a COLOSSAL stretch of logic. Books like 12 Rules for Life are about taking responsibility for your own actions and even appeal to biblical principles to back that up. Recognizing where you're wrong in life and when you need to improve is the opposite of self worship when you think about it.
It's impossible to be a sin if you're doing it for your health and if you give glory to GOD and thank him for it there's nothing wrong.
What about what the Lord says about idle hands and body? Too many Americans are obese and the typical American diet is unclean and not what GOD intended for us. We did this to ourselves....
Lastly, I don't see Goggins as a guy that's too proud. He's a determined and humble dude. If anything, he could give all thanks and glory to our Lord. Maybe he does that just not publicly, only GOD knows our hearts.
@@TheJoeschmoe777 ONE HUNDRED PERCENT agree! James 2:18-20: “But someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You are right. Those people who read self-help books think that they can do anything. When doing that, they become like God.
All self-help books are not the same. Ever heard of throwing out the baby with the bath water?

One of the things I realized after reading quite a few self-help books in my early twenties was that these books all taught you to think of your own happiness, fulfillment and gratification as the ultimate goal in life. Fortunately, I never stopped reading the Bible all during this period, and I could see how the Bible taught that doing God's will was the ultimate goal in life - regardless of what it cost to me personally. I am not on this earth to make myself happy and find fulfillment; I am on this earth to love others and serve the Lord.
I think that is the real problem with self-help books. (although I will add that they can have some great practical ideas on business, organization, etc.) I don't think it is immoral to read them, but understand they fall short in their message.
People read self help books because there is a deep brokenness deep within us we are desperate to fix. The problem is we cause the cracks to fracture and become shattered when we look to our own work to repair it. Only God can heal us. Only God can fix whats broken. And nothing can come to pass that his sovereign will hasnt ordained. We need to look to the creator and not a book from Barnes and noble.
Well put!
David Goggins has a great life story and determination in the face of great personal and public evil, his motivation can be inspiring to someone who has gone through something similar, but we as Christians have to be careful that we’re not looking at someone and saying “I am unsatisfied with my life so I want theirs.”
The Bible says God gives us a new heart when we believe in his son Jesus and are saved.
Amen to that! "And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:26

Regarding the comments at the very beginning of the video, I believe that there is NOTHING WRONG with confessing God's Word and Promises over ourselves and our families which is His Will! Definitely do not want to throw out the proverbial baby with the bath water here! I DO believe we need to be careful and guard the words that come out of our mouth because our words and what we confess DO matter. We can either confess and speak words of LIFE regarding a person, situation, or thing in our life based on God's Word and His Promises we can speak DEATH. It is our choice because LIFE and DEATH are in the power of our tongue per the following scriptures ... Prov 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit! John 6:63 The Words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are LIFE. Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our faith without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Pray God's continued Blessings upon Living Waters ministries. Thank you for ALL you do and for the encouragement and Blessing you are in my life!! 🙏 ❤
Peterson pushed me and thousands of other people toward faith because he was and still is struggling, "wrestling" with God. And I think he's moving closer and closer to God through a path similar to C.S.Lewis or many other brilliant former atheist/agnostic ones. ❤ from Italy

Jordan Peterson’s wife and daughter have become Roman Catholics.
Jordan Peterson wrote his latest book in a Catholic Monastery and now seems to be dabbling in Roman Catholicism himself.

These vids are so good Ray! Deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him. What a blessing to see this woman come to Christ. It has been awhile since I have brought anyone to the Lord, so this helps me to stay the course in witnessing to the unsaved. Thanks Ray.
Ray this really works. My friend and I walk the poorest streets in York PA we meet some of the nicest people and some of the evil people. Every believer should keep the word of God as the beginning and final authority over our lives.. It is the Best Help that we will ever need.❤
Agreed.
Especially given the days we are living in.
The "end of days".
"When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sounds the alarm to warn the people." (Ezekiel 33:3)
All that is playing out in the world is exactly how we were told it would in Scripture.
Next up, the rapture of His born again bride (see 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
Just at a time where virtually everyone is distracted, deceived, and just carrying on with their lives like everything is normal.
More on that:
Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them SUDDENLY, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
But you, brothers and sisters, are NOT in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:1-5, 11)
For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other, so it will be on the day when the Son of Man comes.
“When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and DESTROYED them all.
And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business-eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building- until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and DESTROYED them all."
Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
“Where will this happen, Lord?” the disciples asked. Jesus replied,
“Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.”(Luke 17:24, 26-30, 32-33, 37)
The number of signs converging/coming together only increases by the day which are ALL leading up to Jesus' imminent return and the rapture of His born again Church (see 2 Peter 3, 1 Timothy 4:1-5, 1 Timothy 6:9-10, 2 Timothy 3:1-5, 2 Timothy 4:3-4, Romans 1:18-32, Luke 17:20-37, Luke 21:5-36, Matthew 24, and Jude, all leading to Revelation 4-22).
Are you ready for that day?
Admit you're a sinner and fall short (Romans 3:10/23)
Believe in Jesus as your Savior (Romans 10:9-10)
Call upon His name for forgiveness (Romans 10:13)
Believe and trust in Jesus, putting your faith in His shed blood on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins (1 Corinthians 15:3-4), exchanging His perfect life for your fallen one, and let today be the day of your salvation (John 3:3/2 Corinthians 5:17).
Time is short.
Thank you. May God richly bless you and everybody was His grace. Glory to our Lord God Jesus Christ forever🌾🌹🕊
Jordan Peterson's advice changed my life for the better. I don't see any reason as to why I shouldn't listen to him as long as he doesn't contradict Jesus, and he doesn't for the most part.

Discern on everything
I have read two of his books too, I like his works in a way that he holds the self accountable to his own faults or sin. And he gives structure to the day to day life too and helps you avoid being aimless. But be very cautious because the highest good he considers is the optimization of the self, therefore his contentment comes from the doing and achieving of things- it boils down to the idolatry of the self. For the Christian though the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. You may read JP but have to bear in mind that the processes he teach are a means to an end and not the end on themselves. Just employ discernment.
In the last few years I have seen a rise in "the awareness and warning/counseling" of videos about narcissism and psychopaths. Well, no wonder! This goes hand in hand with what the bible says about the last days that people will be lovers of themselves.

There’s a fine line between works and faith. As my pastor has once put it: “Faith to move mountains also requires a pick and a shovel. It’s not faith in works, it’s faith that works.” This is the essence of James’ teaching when he said, “Faith without works is dead. I will show you my faith by my works.” For James also said, “What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?”
If we follow our own hearts we will follow them right into the depths of hell: but if we follow Christ heart by faith, we will inherit eternal life!
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. Our words have the power to build people up and give them life or tear people down and bring them death. The words we speak can inspire and encourage others while, in the same sentence, deflate and discourage.
I used to follow Jordan Peterson, and while I do believe he has helped people, his commentary on Christianity is leading his followers astray. He interprets the Bible as if it’s a poem, or Greek Mythology, as opposed to being the literal word of God. He is deceiving people, especially people who may not be strong in the faith, and I wish he’d keep the word of God off his tongue.
Until he finds the right truth
He encourages people to churches… not seeing the problem.

He is also ashamed of saying he believes in Jesus in public, proving he is not born again.
This grandma would never tell anyone to “follow your heart”.😊
I can see how many people can take these books in that sense but they usually encourage discipline in your life. Just put God first in that discipline.
One night I was putting my son to sleep and i always play music, usually Christian lullabies, but that song from disneys Pocahontas came on. That same one they just played about following your heart. I let it play for a little and then the lyrics started and my son got up and said “mommy that’s the devil” 😬 I changed it right away. 😳

@reggiejenkins6458 uhm it definitely happened that’s why I shared about it. I never encouraged him to say it. I grew up with these movies and I enjoy watching them, so It’s not like I encouraged him to say that. But we’re bible believing Christian’s and he knows who Satan is, and we have taught him not to rely on his heart because it’s deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9) so I thought maybe that’s why he said it, Or because the intro to the song is a bit ominous. Either way I turned it off because he didn’t like how it was making him feel.

That saying God helps those that help themselves is unscriptural.
That’s an infamous ideology of Catholicism
I can’t help myself which is why I need Jesus.
Yep, God helps those who reach out to him and ask for it
However we're still supposed to be good stewards and work as hard as if we would work for God. How is that not 'helping yourself'? Serious question. Sin is not only what you do but also the things you don't do. And I believe also how you do.... And of course I fail and fall and have mediocre days, even if it comes to work or marriage.
I am reading the Bible every day for my first read through. My dad sent me the Atomic Habits book recently. I’ll take bits for some advice to break bad habits and pray to God to help me persevere while I break some habits. My phone usage is the worst habit I have. Also wanting to sit down and write and read for hours on end and not pick up my phone would be nice.

Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.
Not putting this here to defend or judge anyone, but doesn't that mean that our words carry immense power? Doesn't that mean that we should try to speak positively and well about things? Maybe if we don't, there will be unknown consequences in the spiritual realm. We are after all created in the image of God, and His word created the universe.
Jesus loves us! God bless :).
Words can build up or tear down is what that proverb is saying (in my opinion/interpretation)
After all, god spoke the world into existence. So if we are to be anything like our creator, why wouldn’t our words matter.
Thank God for His Grace (paying for our offense to a truthful, Holy and Just God), but also being loving in kindness, richness in mercy in choosing to pay God’s fine, our debt/ransom to satisfy this justice. We turn out of gratitude and mercy, and then surrender to Him and repent.

Matt 12:36 New King James Version
But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
So you see we need to be very careful the words we choose to say.
Not sure why making a declaration of faith is wrong, or saying your healthy when you're not, Joel 3:10, Proverbs 18:21, Ephesians 4:29 and Proverbs 15.4. Jesus cursed the fig tree, God spoke the world into existence.
@@davidb3609 , please note the verse I shared says "idle world" thus we need to be careful. Nothing is wrong with declaring faith. However, we are not Jesus or God and I would love an example of someone who spoke themselves healthy or declared they are wealthy etc and it became so because they spoke it. It's like Kat Kerr who says we control the weather, but yet she commanded hurricanes to cease and they not only continued, but destroyed. WOF is fake.

@@christineking2478 as Christians when we say I'm strong even though we feel weak, just as Joel 3:10 says, we say these things because we believe that God makes us strong. Not because we're strong in our thinking.. I think the video blasts self-help and then at the end of the video they promote his book which is a self-help book. And I use self-help very loosely because anyone reading a book is usually reading it to improve themselves in some way shape or form.
@@davidb3609 I am certainly not here to argue with you or anyone, but you are taking Joel 3:10 out of context. These are people who are rallying to fight AGAINST God. They are saying all people, even the weak, will need to become warriors to fight. THis has nothing to do with Christians who are weak becoming strong because God makes it so. I'm a bit older, so I knew of Norman Vincent Peele quite well. Read most of his books and loved his philosophy on life and his walk with the Lord. He's gone now, so please don't tear the man down. Its possible to admire many people in ones years and walk with the Lord. ❤❤❤
FYI: “None of this would be remarkable, except that he taught it as a minister who claimed to be a Christian. Yet as a Christian minister he denied that God was a being, saying “Who is God? Some theological being? He is so much greater than theology. God is vitality. God is life. God is energy. As you breathe God in, as you visualize His energy, you will be reenergized!” (Plus: The Magazine of Positive Thinking). As a Christian minister he told Phil Donahue, “It’s not necessary to be born again. You have your way to God, I have mine. I found eternal peace in a Shinto shrine … I’ve been to Shinto shrines and God is everywhere. … Christ is one of the ways! God is everywhere.” He denied the very heart of the Christian faith and replaced it with his doctrine of positive thinking.” www.challies.com/false-teachers/the-false-teachers-norman-vincent-peale/
@@LivingWatersThank you Ray for clarifying. ❤❤❤
@@LivingWaters I was unaware of this and I stand corrected. I know that in MY walk with God, what Jesus Christ said IS the only way; that He is the Truth, and the Light, and the ONLY WAY to the Father, as He said in Matthew. This I believe with all my heart. I am born again and know that I will go to heaven, not because I am good, but because God is good, and that His eternal grace in my life is the Only Way.
Thank you for pointing that out about Mr. Peale; I did not know he said such things or I would have tried to correct his thinking. I am sorry if I unintentionally led any astray, and I hope they have found the Truth in our Lord Jesus Christ. HE IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN.

When you read these kind of books, don’t do it with the intention of becoming someone better throughout all the reading, but to find useful information for your career, the way you behave with people, and not to follow those teachings as they were religion. You choose some points that deeply resonate within yourself and try to apply them. Saying that you can’t follow a few tips is just a self accusation of lacking discipline. But as I said, these are only tools from which you can extract some infos but at the end of the day you need to read your Bible daily because without god and his word we are just meant to sink. I suggest reading “Proverbs”, that’s a wonderful way to start understanding how God can help you become the best version of yourself. Hope I didn’t bore you, I wish you a nice day. God bless you ❤✝️

Only God is good.
Not one other.
The only help we need is Jesus.
He takes our burdens and gives us peace.
The Father opens doors and closes them.
He knows what is best for us.
People only need God and his Bible ! they don't need nothing else.
You don't need mathematics and science? I agree with Sola Scriptura but you have to make your statement precise.
God and his manual to life - Bible is the highest knowledge and intelligence ever. Yeah it is also so simple a child can understand it.
I agree that the gospel is the source of true transformation and we can’t fix ourselves, but Jocko’s “Extreme Ownership” and much of what Jordan Peterson discusses are about taking responsibility for one’s self, taking control of one’s thinking (I.e. taking thoughts captive), and taking initiative to pursue good and righteous things. James Clear discusses how our belief system makes us act certain ways, and we need to change what we believe in order to change our actions in any sustainable way in the long term. Their concepts have helped me a lot personally
I’m a therapist. Don’t read self-help.

I am so happy yall are covering this!!!!!
What's wrong with the desire to better one self? I agree with that point with George Bernard Shaw, who once remarked, "people are poor because they don't provide much service" We get paid based on 3 things. WHAT WE DO, HOW GOOD WE DO IT, AND HOW EASILY WE CAN BE REPLACED. That is the reason why Tom Brady got paid his supersized contract, and a heart surgeon gets only paid 1% of Brady's salary. Christians should excel in the market place, (Col3:23) Christians should set the gold standard in hard work and professional excellence.
At what price is Tom Brady's payment? Yes, Christians should be well advanced economically but at the cost of following Christ.
The Christian walk is that of Christ! Excelling in the market place is not a commandment from the Lord..it's actually a fruit if you are in the market place.. I can think about the Hobby Lobby Founder David Green. I think we ought to use what we have for His Glory!
@@thelordwillprovide911 read Colossians 3:23. Excellent work produces excellent income. You get rewarded by the market place how well you do things. The Father and Jesus are excellent creators as the precise universe testifies and we are supposed to be an image of Christ?
The wallet drop is a brilliant way to set up a gospel presentation. Very creative because they literally just prove that they are a lying, covetous, idolarous, thief. Well done. It also works the other way if you ask the people who do not pick it up why they did not pick the wallet up.
Atomic Habits by James Clear is a book every single Christian should read
I was halfway into reading Atomic Habits when I encountered God in my room and broke down before Him. I'm not saying that book led me to repentance, but it gave me practical steps to apply to my life and stop some cycles of destructive habits and start good ones. It was a tool God used to deliver me from serious issues that I've had even though I've held a belief in Jesus and was baptized 8 years prior. I was still doing other things like praying and singing worship songs so that book alone can't produce that kind of transformation. At this point I don't remember much of what I read in that book, I stick to the Bible now and maybe a few Christian books from time to time on specific topics that interest me. It's a helpful book in the right context.
And why? Why should i read it?
Read The Gospel of God by Martyn Lloyd Jones
@herrberkmann5908 read it if you have any bad habits you want to eliminate or good habits you want to build in your life. Much of what's in the book is biblical principle. It's just laid out in a very easy to understand and apply format that deals solely with this one subject.
