The realization that this was also about the Vegas shooter came late but it finally hit you!
You have to re listen to the song a few times and it blows your mind how there was NO transition as you stated but the ENTIRE song has been about both, the Vegas shooting AND being a performer and the pressure that comes with it.
This is why I mentioned the crazy double and triple meanings in this one!
The caps, magazines, scope, murdering the show and and and!
It's one helluva song. Also the sampling of the "hello darkness my old friend", if you listen carefully, you hesr the voice in the background sayin it over and over!

A masterclass at writing with this track. A double the entire time. The Vegas shooting is exactly what song is based on, along with his career on stage. I know someone who was at the Vegas show and thankfully he made it out ok. That bit towards the end when the reporter says "this shooting at a food festival in Northern California" happened about 30 min from my house.
No matter how many times I hear this, it never ceases to bring tears to my eyes. Absolute masterpiece
I remember realizing what this song was about and immediately getting goosebumps because the beat has bridge to it at that part.
When I first listened to the song at work as an overnight baker and heard "tear up the stage in a few" and "pop some caps" in the first verse my hands grabbed the table and my breath was shaky but I knew what he was hinting at. Still can't shake it off, he always speaks his mind.
The scope bar was pretty dope too. Reached for the scope but actually reached for the scope. 😊

I own guns and am well aware that a lot of people whom have them absolutely, should not. Something needs to change, not sure exactly what that should be, but maybe we focus money more towards mental health than arresting people for weed...Texas, and others.
One of the most underrated Rap verses (next to Andre 3k Life of the Party) off all time. Crazy how it goes so hard under the Radar.
Craziest part that hits with the whole double is when the news anchor mentions the culprit and says “You can see behind me. This is what he looks like” right as it cuts to Eminem walking out onto the stage in front of a giant crowd.
It’s not just a double bar wise, but the fact that Eminem literally relates to these mass sh00ters in a strange morbid way. He mentions lots of famous incidents like this involving horror like this or in his song “last one standing” how he says he’s trying to “recreate the feeling of 9/11 when the second plane hit the building”
He goes in front of a crowd to KlLL the audience and also hates the media and wanted to make a statement with his violent songs in his early career and get headlines. “Bet you I’ll be in tomorrows paper. Who would the odds favor?” Instead of weapon he uses his music and pen to take people out.
Like the Las Vegas sh00ter Em also has no motive or signs of mental illness either to explain why he does what he does, and has no idea how or why he got here but continues to do it anyway.

Em said in an interview with crook that he doesn’t want to take guns away but there’s something for people who stockpile guns and ammo especially automatic machine guns im in the uk and while we can own guns getting them is extremely hard and the process is intense and checks made on how you store clean and use them and we can’t own automatic guns because there is no reason for a citizen to have guns suitable for war maybe that’s just because I’ve never had to fear a gun or fear my child being shot in school that the idea of having them so readily available is so alien to me we had one mass school shooting in the early 90s and the gun laws changed which I am so thankful for

I find it interesting Marshall is a gun owner, always has been but I believe he wants to do whatever he can to use his platform to allow our children and grandchildren and ALL Americans in future generations to NEVER have to deal with these mass shootings. Every line is a double entendre. The 2nd listen makes the song that much better
I got it immediately the first time I heard the line "That's a lot of shots huh?" My speaker system made it insanely easy for me to hear "Double entendre" right after. Then of course the visuals made perfect sense right after.
This is just as, if not more powerful than Stan. But somehow it did not get that kind of reception right off. It is also considered almost too violent for folks today. But if it did anything, it showed his complete and utter story-telling ability. Most people, myself included, do not get the song's dual meaning until far into it.
There isn't another rapper that can do this like Eminem. Score 10
