There is no romance or niceties between Dutch and Vikki when it comes to who has the best iteration of their own personal Ducati Sport Classic bikes.
The two of them talk us through mods to their own bikes, a little history about them and some competitive squabbling thrown in for good measure.

Louder doesn’t really means better, the black Ducati is not as loud as the white one but sounds just perfectly right!
Ducati... the Sport 1000 has been dead for almost a decade now. Revive this beautiful machine under it's own name. Even if it's the same damn thing!

Love these bikes and the presentation. I've only just started taking an interest in the Ducati classics despite doing a lot of work for them in the early 2000s and living 25 mins from the factory here in Bologna. Just a little point, because i'm a pedantic git, the pronounciation of 'Biposto' is be...posto and not bye...posto, if that makes any sense.

Hands off Ducati"s. They're already works of art and performance.
At a first glance I liked both.
But why does Vikki's have passenger pegs?
And why does Dutch's have an exposed timing belt?
Vikki's has multiple seat options and used to take a passenger (her, when it was Dutch's bike). Lot's of Ducati owners run open timing belts. There is some minimal risk of taking on stones (or flares) but accidental damage is very rare. You also gain cooling and constant inspection - and it looks great.

Nice guys couldn't agree more. I've got one of the last SS made and a 1098S . Both are highly modified. The SS is just plain nice to ride in the real world. You can use all the performance and have a fantastic time. The 1098 is just plain nuts. You can't use all the performance . Nice bikes guys
This is my dream bike! Sadly for me they've gone up in price over the years and there are few left.

@@ToxiicWarningyou can still find the cheaper version(the white one) for around 8k USD. Swap the tank and seat. You'd be in total around 9500 USD. I have a red one (like the guys white one) and did this.
Where did you get the exhaust supports on the duc sport classic 1000? I'd love to get those versus the stock supports with the pegs. thanks in advance.
I LOVE these bikes. One day I will have one. Easily my favorite sportbike design and favorite of all the Ducaties for sure. Lucky lucky lucky

Hey guys, from your experience, what’s your preference on tires? The phantoms are really good-looking but not that grippy..
IMO nothing sounds better than the DS1000 motors and Termi pipes because they’re so bassy and boomy... probably owing to their sheer size and shape, which is why Dutch’s pipes look better but lose the sound battle. I myself prefer knee indents on the tank vs the Guzzi V7 look to the Sport 1000 tank. Both beautiful bikes. Great vid.
One bike I will never sell is my M1100, long live the desmodue engine !
Was sadly unaware of these bikes until I saw one in Tron legacy and was instantly like "whats that" I need one, shame they are now so rare/expensive... top of my wish list so maybe one day. Beautiful bikes guys, can tell you love them.
I have one of these and they sell transparent covers for the belts (you won't lose any of the looks and it would be safer.)

well done guys, I'd be a bit worried about the smoke from Vikki's bike? has it had the ECU changed to suit the Termi's? Also, any thoughts on the fuelling, reviews on some original bikes commented on the snatchy throttle response?, my GT1000 has a' Fat Duc Manipulator' fitted, which with a 14tooth front sprocket works great, I've also sealed my tank with Caswell epoxy sealer, expansion issue's gone. any thoughts comments on any of this?
I've seen Caswel flake off after less than 24 months, so my preferred route was to avoid fuel with ethanol. So far my GT and PS1000 have been ok, but Vikki's Biposto has suffered a bit.
I was also worried about the smoke, but they bike has been standing a while with old fuel, and hasn't been trashed for a while.
Regarding the fuelling, both these bikes seem pretty good for early FI models - or certainly much better then early KTMs I owned, which were On/Off throttles. Vikki's does have a PowerCommander and mine has the termi map, but there's not much in it when you ride them back to back.
Don't let one case of Caswell failure put you off, as you know, anything will come off if the surface isn't prepped properly, ie abraded to key it up.

Want one. From a bona fide Guzzi Big Twin fan. The only other Ducati i'd consider owning is the S2R Monster.

ha, nah we had just brought her out of winter storage to get ready for Cafe Racer Cup! Bit of cobweb blowing from the pipes and she's running cleaner now! A lot of that was actually dust from outside the arch. [Dan]
A few comments. 1. Vikki's sounded way more badass (sorry Dutch). 2. You're both incredibly lucky to own these beauties and a paul smart from Ducati's history, seriously extremely jealous. 3. It still baffles me that Ducati hasn't reissued the sports classic range to go up against the thruxton r from Triumph, seriously I think them doing that would cause some amazing innovation and competition between the two brands. In my opinion Triumph has been absolutely crushing it with their new moderns while Ducati has just been milking the scrambler range, which I personally do not like the look of. Lastly, I'm located in LA, Dutch if you're ever in town I'd love to buy you a flat white and talk for a few minutes, cheers!

white one definitely. im seriously thinking of a red faired sports classic..only 6000lm but its $33k aud.. ouch...all my riding is highway as i live in the bush. bad part is i have to trailer it 5km to reach bitumen. 😎🙏

Isn't that open motor look bad for it? All mud and dirt gets between the belts...
It's common to run open timing belts. Accidents or damage are very rare.
It would be interesting to know both you guys heights. This way why could have some perspective when thinking in lowering our bikes. Great video, cheers from Portugal!

I know , I'm very late to the party. But, which sounds better depends on the individual, so the competition was pointless. Also, since she was using a lot more throttle for the comparison, it makes taking their arguments and demonstration for their word pointless

Personally i like a ducati stock standard especially the classic desmos. These bikes are almost priced like a classic I.

good banter .. good bikes... not a fan of black or white bikes , the GT 1000 looks amazing in Orange with black trim or yellow black..
It has the worst standard fork for a Ducati that I've ever owned (MHR) or ridden, and I have ridden a few. With better springs it's a lot better, but still clearly has its limitations before anything else is being pushed on the bike. Still great fun though and love the style of the GT. The Öhlins suspension is by comparison ACE, but like all Öhlins suspension you need to set it up (the standard fork is crap no matter what you do - by comparison).
You're probably right. Both these bikes have Wilbur progressive springs and heavier fork oil. It's been so long, I forgot to mention it.
