Beautiful video. Thank you so much. There is excellent new guest accommodation now built along one of the cloisters and although the old guest house had to be sold of. The beautiful monastic life continues and a visit to Nunraw still remains a wonderfully rewarding spiritual experience.
Did vocation discernment there a few years ago...didn't take final step to becoming a monk....sometimes wish i was stronger!! A truly beautiful, magical atmosphere
As a young man about 14 I spent my summer school holidays with my father working at Nunraw Abbey helping in the initial building stages of the new abbey. I helped make bricks, shovelled concrete, worked in the quarry with Brother Albie and worked on the farm stacking hay. I have fond memories of this place and the "fathers" and "brothers". I did this every year for 5/6 years and enjoyed every minute of it. - Chris Dunnion
Thank you so much for this beautiful tour of the "castle" and grounds that my mother's family owned...between Nunraw's stints as the Cistercian monestary.
Nunraw Guest House was a very interesting building to visit and see all the additions which had been added to the old eower over the centuries. I'm sorry that the Abbey had to sell it, but it is better being lived in and cared for, than decaying into ruin. I'm sure it willbe a lovely family home again!
