The actual officer Mr.Gopinath missed his father's death cause he didn't have money for business class (only seats available) which is why that scene got us right in the feels. Also Suriya sirs acting in a single shot was an actual slipper shot to everyone who said he can't act. He undoubtedly is NADIPIN NAYAGAN ❤

Suriya is the producer of this film. He wanted to release the movie in theaters, because of the covid he sold the movie to amazon.

@Ram Kumar taking tamil film industry into consideration there are only a few actors with such acting capabilities... While it is ture that actors like Kamal Hassan, Dhanush etc who came from kollywood are great visionaries and surya comes nowhere near them in the context of not only acting but cinema in general , but still surya did a very commendable performance and is really talented

Her debut movie was "Maheshinte Prathikaram" with Fahad Fasil in 2016 which is a must watch movie💓... Jaby already reacted to that movie trailer long ago!

Also every film industry in India produces good movies but comparing the rate of good films from what I watched in past years malayalam movies and their actors are just wow. Yes, this is definitely more different than the other regional films..... but honestly Jaby, that's because you are always recommended the one's that are well known where the majority of the audience vote for a commercial film which is sometimes good. But not all in my own region get to watch films that are so underrated and less visited but are honestly gems of Cinema no one can replace. Examples are D-16( Dhuruvangal Pathinaru...u did a trailer reaction way b4) and some stuff of Kamal Hassan ( Flopped but we're never understood) and some Assamese Cinema, Malayalam ...... etc etc Also Telugu where people misunderstand it to be over the top Physics gone wrong film. Eg to prove wrong are Evaru, HIT....Etc
You had a better understanding of the film that is because director sudha kongara worked in 2 Hollywood movies as assistant director.

Here's an explanation to that begging at the airport scene, according to me, that wasn't supposed to make us cry, but that was just a build up for that scene where he gets home late after his father passed and when his mom scolded him. It was to show how helpless he was. That was where i cried. If you are an indian you would definitely cry there. I don't know what jaby thought of that scene but it was excellent acting by the mom,its a perfect representation of a aching indian mom. And thats probably why i cried. According to me that was the more emotional scene than the airport one

Their budget took a hit for rendering, cause they had to pay fines coz they moved forward to release in OTT instead of release in theatres due to covid.
Being a pilot based in Chennai (Tamilnadu) . I can happily say the local references were very accurate. In addition the parts related to aviation was too. So happy u guys watched it.

Jaby totally missed the nuances of Crying out loud and expressing emotions without holding back is common in the culture here. (Some people even care less about circumstances & where they are)
In this movie, character maaran has become more of a western/urban man due to
1. Air force training
2. Professional world he is exposed to
3. Lots of emotional ups & downs.
So maaran is holding back emotions in that scene in bank when villagers sending money. But in the airport scene when he begs for money to see his father who is death bed, he expresses himself more. No westerner would do that I guess in real life. But in South Asia it would happen. Further, though it is common in culture, it depends on individuals as well. One of my work colleagues cried out loud in corporate setup when he heard the news his mom passed away. It is due to cancer so it's not sudden death either.
So the other movies you watched and you could not relate to it is understandable, but it's not exaggerated. Complex nuances here to decode and understand.
there was a scene where surya smokes cigar in front of his superior officer but that scene was edited because when the movie was screened to the iaf officers they got offended by that scene it seems. thats why they deliberately put those wordings whenever the airforce scene comes i assume
Guys you are soooooo wrong. Sooo wrong. South Indian films are not just over the top action films, its just a part of S. Indian films. The best films in the country are made in S. Indian films. Ignore those stupid over the top films and explore the real South Indian films

1)The logo of Jaz airlines is Eagle .Eagle flies high and attacks the victim from back like the character of Paresh but where as the final logo of Deccan airlines is a sparrow which doesnt fly high and light weight .
2)Whenever Surya gets angry he adjust his fathers watch(he keeps that watch as his father memory and also his advice not to become angry ) which indicated that he is controlling his anger and wants to focus on achieving his goal.
3)The introduction scene of Surya is a dancing scene for funeral its because he missed his dads funeral and he dont want to do that for his community people.During the verbal fight between Surysa father and Surya his dad with anger tells him not to attend his funeral but unfortunately that
4)Surya never Salutes Mohan babu ( his teacher at his training) because of the hatred they both have for eachother but in 2nd half when Mohan babu helps Surya to achieve his goal by deploying his airforce pilots Surya heartffully salutes him..
5) when Suriya misses his flight he goes in taxi. Suddenly taxi stop, this show his father died.
6) the address he writes on a paper at airport is actual his father photo and he writes on back side of the photo
7) there is change of perspective of Indian women in these film,non conventionally, women goes to see suriya for marriage proposal and at end the flight pilot is women ,which indicates women are equal with women and women is competing equally with men in every Field
8) Paresh who is rich cannot have proper sleep but where as his worker sleeps properly at night ,it shows money is not everything to leave a pleasant life
9)there is cast reference also at his childhood ,barber in his village asks his son to learn hair cut instead of studying and at the end you can see farmers of cotton and textile business owner in the same airplane ,it shows cast barrier can be removed by cost barrier
10 there is also indication of technology development in India by giving references to electricity in village ,pagers ,mobile phones ,at the end giving the reference of online booking
