I was introduced to Jason Mraz when my son was about 14 maybe. I heard him playing his music and asked, "Who is that ?" He said Jason Mraz. Now every time we are together on a family outing we always sing Bella Luna. It's our favorite song! I have a nephew that looks a lot like Jason Mraz so that makes him even more special to us.
What a talent Jason Mraz is. He makes it sound so easy. Great voice, nice lyrics. People my age who say that there is no good music being made today are either too closed minded or don't take the time to listen. I love his music. Good music is ALWAYS being made, you just have to open your mind to it. I really find it ignorant when people say things like,......well the 90's was great, everything else is shit. Where does the actual suck line begin? People who grew up in the 20's and 30'd thought Coltrane, Miles Davis, Buddy Rich, etc were pure noise. So I ask again, where does the suck line begin? Because very generation thinks their music trumps all. I respectfully disagree....and I was born in the 50's Discuss....
It begins with the democratisation of Autotunes and others digital tools , with these technologies , it's easier to become a "singer". Sadly most of them focus only on the voice and don't spend time thinking about lyrics,the story,the sincerity. In my minds it all starts with new technologies. There are still very good musics nowadays but they ain't famous enough ! ( I can still think about some famous modern artist that produce good songs but it's rare)
Jason Mraz became big when I was on college almost 15 years ago. Back in the 2000s, there was still a lot of great music still being made but the selection of good stuff was definitely waning by then.
I played this song softly for my kitty and held him under the full moon the evening I knew had to let him go of our life together. May his gentle soul, he who loved and protected me with all the determination any ranch kitty could have, hear this and know that I think of him and love him without measure.
Jason is one of the best song writers o all time..... the eloquent complexity and deep minding of the lyrics is simple mind blowing and delicious to listening....
