Elaine princi was phenomenal. I never even think of her as a replacement. She just owns the role so convincingly

She really captured the essence of Dorian's character - when you go back to her first scenes, it's pretty much instant - while bringing her own elegant flair. Robin tends to lean more camp/quirky, while Elaine was what I'd call Warm or Cold: When she was serious and loving, you'd really feel that warmth from her - but when she was cold, she was like ice in how menacing she'd be. In either circumstance, you always got how deep her feelings run.

I loved having a powerhouse like Elaine Princi for the three years of her playing Dorian. She absolutely made Dorian her own especially in the upcoming scenes with Jason and at Cassie's wedding to Bo she was phenomenal. I'm SO glad that they FINALLY recognized that Dorian needed to be back at a home vs. a hotel (this penthouse looks like an update and upgrade from her 1980s penthouse last seen in 1988, although I loved that one too for the 80s of it & the square glazed windows). Robin Strasser will always be my first choice for Dorian, there's just an ease about her and to me played Dorian's emotions with more of a range. Although, I loved them both for different reasons, I was happy when Robin returned in 1993. HOWEVER, I thought Elaine got treated very poorly and felt like the show discarded her and as a viewer this bothered me and made Robin's return bittersweet.

Joey’s character development has been really good here. I like the Kevin, Steph, Joey combo.

IMO OLTL was planning the next generation of characters with Kevin and Joey starting in 1991 by giving them more stuff to do.

I'm not sure she's appearing on the crawl yet, but Gottlieb is definitely here - as her tweaks have been coming the last couple of weeks. They're still using Score Productions for the music, but the use is more thoughtfully applied. It works well. It'll be sad when that library takes a backseat to the "quirky" works of a new music director.
The lighting, or I should say darkening. I'm surprised characters aren't tripping and falling all over each other. I get that it was over-lit before, but this is an extreme over-correction.
Craig Carlson is still head writer here, for anyone wondering if this is yet Malone's work. The story feels really tight and grounded here, the scenes having more realistic circumstances and more thoughtful dialog. And to her credit, that is Gottlieb's input you're seeing. You'll know it's Malone when you start seeing things that intrigue you while simultaneously having the unsettling feeling of "what show am I watching?"
Cassie's still, as Dorian aptly describes, a great investigative journalist. Another sign you'll have when Malone is there: Cassie and everyone around here forgets her profession so that she can go full-throttle into a sobbing, hysterically sad mess. Dorian's scenes with her here, however, are solid and interesting. Even Dorian's scene with Bo had a different flavor to it than before... She's no longer being written as a one-dimensional "anti-Viki" as Craig Carlson had been doing for the past 18 months.
At this stage, Gottlieb is refining what's here, while evaluating what she feels works vs what doesn't. We know that she ultimately decided she wasn't at all crazy about Nicholas Walker's version of Max - can't blame her for that. But the story is still being felt-out here, as is the whole Stephanie / Kevin thing. It's an overall interesting episode, in that it still feels like OLTL, but smarter and well thought out.

Megans lack of storyline is beginning to stick out like a sore thumb..... If your eyewear prescription isn't quite right, you could almost mistake her as Jason in the scene where she is set far back from Kevin

Yes, it's sad. She's basically a prop for other characters until October, but probably during the transition they needed to use her but didn't want to commit to any storylines until they figured out where she was heading (and maybe why they hired Joe Lando back as well). She gets a sweet storyline with Andrew, and a quick one with Viki (in one of Linda Gottlieb's infamous short arcs) and finally her last one, her Lupus storyline.😢
