This video just showed up in my recommendations, so well done RUclips for that. I spoke with Colm O Meachair on the phone back in the early '90s when I was looking into buying a harp and he was incredibly generous with his knowledge and had the time to advise me what to look out for when buying both new and used harps as I was a total novice. I soon went down the pedal harp route and eventually got a Salvi Arianna in 2002 when I finally had the money for that. Sad to hear of his passing and although our conversation was relatively short, I admire him for taking his time out to talk to me.
I only discovered this recently, but I keep coming back to it. Such a beautiful composition and though I know your harp maker Colm is sadly no longer with us, that makes me think all the more, how wonderful to have this tribute. Two incredibly talented people brought together by such a beautiful instrument. What a contribution to life you've both made.
Such a amazing man, who lived for his love of music and the making of fabulous harps. will miss going to see him in Marley Park. my children loved his shop. R.I.P.
A fitting tribute to one of the country's finest harp makers. So sad to hear he has passed away and while we will miss him terribly we'll have the sound of his harps to remind us of his special gift. Slán a chara...
This is one of the most beautiful tunes I have ever heard. I hope you release an album someday: such music ought to be shared with as many people as possible.
Well done Fiachra. Hope you continue to enjoy playing Colm's harp. Sadly our beloved friend and harp-maker Colm Ó Meachair passed away today. Truly generous with his time and talents with so many harpers. He has left a legacy of wonderful instruments and many friends in the harp world. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. Áine Ní Dhubhghaill
Fiachra this was beautiful!! You brought a smile to my face and brightened my day with this. And what a gorgeous new harp! Thank you for sharing this. If you are ever in America, I'd love to get a harp lesson from you as you're one of my favorite RUclips Harpists.
I fully agree with what Meredith Williams said and I repeat Hundreds of years ago you would have played for kings. If I was king of all Ireland I would arrange for your capture, you would have to play your stunning harp music every breakfast time and late dinner time 5 days each week. You would be allowed total freed for the remaining 2 days but you would have to be back in time for my breakfast on Monday morning
Can you meet my daughter ? You and her would perform so well together She has always been into dance and theater since two years old. She teaches DANCE IN A PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL SINGLE AND IN HER THIRTYS She can put together quite a show with her kids spring and fall performances.
Lovely to hear again ! Missing Colm, a wonderful harp maker taken too soon. ❤
