A knight needs not be taken to the next level. He seeks it out, challenges, and prevails. And a knight never surrenders and never gives in, except to the Most High, which we humbly serve.
I recommend the book "Rules of a Knight" by Ethan Hawke. It lists out 20 rules that are supposed to make a Knights character. For the fun of it, those rules are; Solitude, Humility, Gratitude, Pride, Cooperation, Friendship, Forgiveness, Honesty, Courage, Grace, Patience, Justice, Generosity, Discipline, Dedication, Speech, Faith, Equality, Love, & Death. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in that sorta thing.

About a year or two ago I began to say a mantra " Give love where none is shown and give hope when all seems gone .

I lost my mother two years ago, my world was in rouins and it was to much for a 17 year old , this speech made me rethink that a worriors journey is only his victories about the challenges that make him stronger through time . Thank you.

I know what that feels like. I lost my mother a couple years ago, when i was twelve or 13. Cancer. I didnt even get a chance to say goodbye, and i was unable to attend the funeral. I wish you the best of luck on healing from the loss, i still find it hard to heal, and im sixteen now.

Sounds like a good night equals a good father. Mine taught me pretty young that I should not start the fights, but I can definitely finish them without repercussion outside of physical. Rule number seven was the most important thing he ever told me. Men do not lie. It might suck if you were married, it might suck when you have kids, employees, friends, family, but you should never do something you’re ashamed of and if you do you have to own it.

I remember reading the Code of Chivalry in HS and deciding right then to follow in the steps of my maternal great grandfather who served in WWI and my grandfather lied about his age to join the Army TWO YEARS BEFORE PEARL HARBOR and served in the Air Force for 28 years. I'm a retired U.S Army veteran, Master Freemason, and member of the Knights Templar. There are many of us out there still doing our best to help those in need simply because it's the right thing to do. Cheers from America. ✌

C.S. Lewis elucidates the Knight as the balanced gestalt of gentleness and strength. A milksop may have virtue but not strength to make any use of it, while heroics without gentleness is but a brute. Fall one way and you are a "nice-guy" wimp. Fall the other way and you are an "alpha" beast. Walking tall between them with the best of civility and strength is the Knight. (The anti-gestalt coward-bully need not be considered.)
I knew many powerful men and women in this life. Too many of them were as described by a prophet: You think of yourself as a strong young lion among the nations, but you are really just a sea monster, heaving around in your own rivers, stirring up mud with your feet.

My former father-in-law made me an SCA peanut shield with holes drilled through it to lighten it some and improve visibility. It worked pretty well when I tested it.

Love the dragon heart quote at the start
Had to do a ton of research on the subject in order to write an adoubement ceremony myself. From what I could tell, the oath and ceremony itself varied drastically from one place to another, and even the same places but at different points in history, and it was never truly standardized. They all had the same very general idea though and so, in an attempt to cover everything I could find on what exactly was sworn (though without the references to God, unfortunately as it didn't fit the setting), this is the oath I wrote:
"Do you swear to always defend a lady, the sick and enfeebled, the helpless and impoverished, and all of those who should fall under your personally sworn protection?"
"Do you swear to be fair and truthful in all actions taken by your hand, the judgements to be passed by your head, and all of the words of which shall be uttered by your mouth?"
"Do you swear to repudiate cowardessness, to never avoid a path taken nor maneuver commanded in battle for the sake of fear?"
"Do you swear to be loyal; to be faithful in your devotion to whomever you pledge yourself, of the heavens and of these very lands, and all such oaths thusly sworn?"
"Do you so swear to be present, timely, and equipped when called upon for engagement of arms, be in tournament or in the field, and to retain both arms and armor while on quest or campaign at all hours except in the hours of rest?"
"Do you swear to the conduct of both chivalry and that of a gentleman; to fight honorably, and when taken prisoner to relinquish your arms and your horse to your opponent without challenge, and to not raise further arms against them without their consent of such?"
"Lastly, do you swear, when you do return home to court from wherever you may be called to venture forth, from quest to campaign, tourney to task, and coast to distant coast, to always tell the dazzling tales of your adventures and escapades?"
"Do you accept this oath, spoken true and whole-heartedly under the honest light of the gods and your fellow men before you upon this day?"

Or the feel to belong to something good, with others who have the same value than you. In middle age, for exemple, it was for the kingdom of France and for defend christianity in europe

My grandmother told me basically the same thing when I was seven.
"Do you want to know what I do? my heart knows only Virtue, my Might upholds the weak, My Words speak only the Truth and I Am sworn to Valor.
Rule number 1: Courage. Battle is the test of a Knight, have the courage to undertake the difficult and tedious duties, prepare to sacrifice all in exchange for Wisdom, Justice must be tempered with Mercy or the pure Truth can bring grief. I will not coward but Nobly dare, a true Knight keeps his bravery even in the midst of danger. "May the lightning of your glory be seen and the thunders of your onset heard from east to west."
Rule number 2: a Knight has Mercy. One can make mistakes but those who are Good yield when they know their course is wrong and seek to rid of all evil.
Rule number 3: a Knight has Generosity. Uphold all that you can, do all good that you can, be Generous with Wisdom and Energy and command only through earned respect. a Knight who shows the Virtue of Generosity, is the master of his world.
Rule number 4: A Knight has Faith: A Knight having giving their Word, seeks to fulfill it at all costs. Faith is to Believe what you can't see and its reward is to see what you believe. Put on your Armor and Rise, Knight. You are now a Knight who bears the Sword of the Spirit and the Shield of Preservation.
Rule number 5: A Knight has Hope. What defines us is how we rise after falling, stand firm and You will be the one to uphold the code in this unjust. To be a Knight of Honor is to be a Glimpse of Hope, in a world where hope can be forgotten.
Rule number 6: A Knight has Nobility. Uphold your convictions at all times, Especially when no one is watching. Live by Honor and Protect the Innocent and Defenseless, a True Warrior fights for those who can't fight for themselves.
Rule number 7: A Knight has Justice. Let evil swiftly befall. To those who have wrongly condemned us, We will be the ones rendering every one his due. Answering the calling for Honor, abstain from all unfairness and deceit and at All times speak the Truth.
Now You must take your place. You have the Will, the Strength, to be the Guardian of the ways of Honor and courage. Fulfil your utmost duty and your will make history, forever set in stone, like all great myths of old. Within the code You will be Reborn into the Warrior within."

I sobed watching this. Humbled to a knee not understanding what is happening to me.
Compared to our ancestors we of gen z men have fallen So far Given so much prosperity and yet are grateful for none of it built on the backbones of those who would die so their ancestors could live free and without bloodshed.
I do not lack in all, but my faith....

The Code of Chivalry or the old code as it is known to me saved my life. It taught me what it meant to be a true warrior and a good man. This is my code.
It can not be broken, and it's non-negotiable.
