I've been going to Santa's Village since I was a baby, 44 years. I've never been during Xmas times, been wanting too. Now I need to try and get there this next time with the husband and twins. It's literally a 45 minute drive from out home, lol.

I really am catching up on the old TCE's from before I found the channel. This looks like another amazing place that I can hope to visit some day. I am not sure I would have had the stones to go around filming in a place like that as a traveling alone 30-something male like you mentioned in the video, but I am grateful that you did since this place looks awesome.

Fun fact about Humbugs (which are not those demonic giggling bugs): they are a traditional type of striped hard sugar candy that's rolled into cylinders while still hot and fed into a brass candy press where they're cut in opposite directions, forming their unusual twisted pillow shapes. The pictures of you and Shane baking as little kids are TOO CUTE! We all know Anna is the real hero of Frozen for never giving up on her sister. But I freaked out (in a good way) when the light show started playing Let it Go! Nobody can match Elsa's flair and panache!

great video and a great park.... I love amusement parks older than Disneyland....the coffee from the doughnut shop always has a doughnut flavor and its unflavored coffee...

oldtimefreedom ... I'm with you all the way when it comes to charming mid-century amusement parks. And Santa's Village is one of the best examples I've ever experienced. It's so well-kept, relevant and certainly not overly modernized. A perfectly quaint, wintery and blissful Christmas experience. Thanks so much for watching!!!

I see I’m very late joining the party. I mistakenly thought these would be videos about making candles, not buying them, but I loved your production value anyway. It was a lot of fun. Good luck to you and thank you. You gave me an idea for a candle I want to make. ⛄️

LOVE every single second of this video! This reminds me of the docus done by Rick Sebak on PBS. An Ice Cream Show, A Hot Dog Show, and Great Old Amusement Parks... I could watch those over and over again. When you pulled up to that lil roadside motel, I literally gasped. You just don't find place like that anymore.
THANK YOU for such creative and amazingly well done videos... I am a fan for life!-Melissa

First of all, Merry Christmas a tad bit early! Loved this video, Shane! It brought me back to my childhood vacationing here with my late Grandparents in the 80s. I vividly remember getting stuck up in that metal nutcracker thing in front (I think it was a slide I didn't want to come down), and being on the cars with my Grandpa! Winter here looks magical, as we visited in the Summer. I had nostalgic tears in my eyes at the end! Keep up the amazing work!

My kids, my mom and I just went to Santa's Village last week and this was one of the videos we watched before we went. Great video! We loved Santa's Village and we can't wait to go back! I'd love to go around the holidays, but I'm not sure it's in the cards for us as we're from Florida and my kids don't do well in the cold lol. It looks lovely there at Christmas though! What a nice park it is...so clean, everyone so friendly, not crowded (at least when we went, opening week of the summer). Loved it!!

HappyHandyLife ... 😁 So happy to hear that you watched this video before venturing off to Santa's Village. And so good to know that you had a wonderful time! Funny that you say you can't wait to go back... I believe those were my first thoughts after leaving as well :) IT WAS COLD! :) And I'm from the Northeast. It was approaching 10 degrees F when I was on that Ferris wheel ❄️. But luckily I tripled up on the socks. I completely share your enthusiasm with Santa's Village. So great to see such a charming amusement park kept up and polished with passionate and friendly employees fueling the holiday spirit.
SPOILER* I'll be going back this Christmas season :)
      Thanks again!

I absolutely love everything about this video! A Christmas themed amusement park where classic Christmas tunes play all day, every day? Sign me up! I've watched a few of your videos now and I want to applaud the way you segue into your candle reviews. You, sir, know your scent notes! You clearly have a passion for life which you bring to your appreciation of home fragrance. Keep up the great work!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your kind words. It's this sort of positivity that fuels these segments. Thank you for watching and for being a supporter!! As for Santa's Village... If you're like me and are into an earlier era style of amusement park or if you just like to have a merry good time, this place is a true gift of Christmas. Considering this park opened 2 years BEFORE Disneyland and is still beautifully maintained and relevant, the whole world should be talking about this attraction!! Why it goes by somewhat unnoticed or is a bit unassuming to the masses is the big mystery to me. Although, maybe the secret has been maintaining this lower traffic to keep it quaint and old fashioned. Either way, if you ever have the opportunity (you know what I'm going to say), be sure to spend a full day. But remember, bundle up. It reached 9 degrees Fahrenheit (which to the people of Jefferson, New Hampshire, is mildly inconvenient). Thanks for your wonderful comment and for watching!!! Much more to come :)

I watched Frozen (again) just last night. Spot on about Anna. She's my favorite of the two but I love Sven best. He reminds me of a dog I once had.....I've always wanted to go to Santa's Village. Thanks for taking me. 👍🏻🎄❄️

This is such a great video! I have watched several times now :) Brings back lots of fond memories for me! My parents took me here when I was a child and my husband and I have taken our own children several times over the years. One day, I hope to carry on the tradition and take our grandchildren! If you are ever in the area again in the summer months you may enjoy Story Land as well.

RC1477 ... I cannot tell you how much this comment means to me, especially regarding this episode. The end goal for me and this channel is to produce content that is re-watchable. That's exactly what I set out to do when filming this video... and to hear that some is out there watching it multiple times brings me so much joy. Trust me when I say, I've been to many amusement parks, but Santa's Village caught me completely off guard. What A charming, enchanting, wonderful experience. The few of these pre-Disney parks that still exist have become much more modernized. I love how they have maintained that quaint vintage amusement park feel. This video, the Norman Rockwell video, and the Salem video are still my favorites. As I move forward into this RUclips venture, trust me, we'll be seeing more content like this. Oh, and I will certainly be back in that area, so I will for sure check out Story Land... thanks for the heads-up!

Hi. i am Rebekah's 8 year old daughter! my name is Chanelle. i liked it when you went in the elf house! why did the train go so slow? I like Anna the best. what did you eat while you were there? I would have wanted hot chocolate. I really liked this video! it was so fun! merry Christmas! 🎅🎅🎅🎅🎄🎄🎄🎄❤❤❤❤

Rebekah Johnson ... Hi Chanelle! Merry Christmas! The elf house was so much fun, I bet you would have liked it too 😁. Haha, not sure why the train moved so slow 🤔. Probably to keep all of the children. I ate a lot of delicious things while I was visiting Santa's Village. Doughnuts, fudge, gingerbread and a BIG turkey sandwich! I wanted hot chocolate, but I was so full from all of the snacks and coffee 😁😁. Oh, and I totally agree with you, Anna is the best 👸🏼😁! Thanks for writing to me and for watching my video. I hope you're having a super fun holiday week. Make sure to leave some snacks out for Santa, he told me he may visit you on Christmas Eve!🎅🏻 Say HI to your family for me. Merry Christmas Chanelle! 🎅🏻🕯👸🏼❄☃🎄

Ok, I thought the mountains looked amazing enough; but that video... starting with the sleigh crossing above us & the ferris wheel, & then the lights in the snowy trees at dusk!! I was watching that & all I could say was, "Love you, Shane!"!!? ;-) Seriously, it was a beautiful Christmas gift! Thank you SO much! And I've traveled alone & stayed in little places like the cabin. Had some really good experiences, like the one you shared with Shawn. Would love to see the White Mtns someday, in weather like you had (maybe little less cold tho). :-o Thanks again for a perfect opening on the Solstice (visually, for sure).✨🌛🎄 Have a warm & peaceful holiday season!💗🎄✨🎥🎁✨

My husband watched this too, even tho it brought back scary memories for him. When we were first dating, I talked him into going on the Ferris Wheel (I love them). Didn't know he was genuinely afraid of heights. Once we hit the top, he had that scared puppy look - & I felt *awful* about it! So glad he forgave me! ;-) I remember going to places like this park as a kid (that 50s/60s vibe is so fun). Sometimes, as a kid - or an adult, a Disney style experience can be a little overwhelming... like sensory overload. This fantasy experience is on a different level; but in some ways, it leaves room for the magic to sort of "sink in"? Anyway... my better half will also be on point, in case there is any crossover between candle enthusiasts & custom drywall guys/musicians! You never know...

    • @TheCandleEnthusiast
      @TheCandleEnthusiast  7 лет назад +1

Haha :) I was feeling a little shaky myself up on that ferris wheel. I always forget how scary it gets when you get to the top. You should see a clip of Monika on Mickey's Fun Wheel in Disneyland.... She was terrified, even though, now, she says she was faking it.
I liked the way this one opened as well. I wanted to keep it short and not too somber feeling, because of the material to follow. But I would love to film more videos in that style.
I had a ball at Santa's Village! And you were spot on about the 50's-60's vibe. The folks at SV smartly have maintained that feel instead of going overly modern. This is why I think I'll alway be a Disneyland person versus a Disney World person. I like the old fashioned amusement park "feel" (very personal).
Thank you for all of the wonderful comments that you've left me this year. They were all very special for me to read and made all this work incredibly fun.
Big plans for the new year. I think we'll have fun ;)
For now, I hope you're enjoying this holiday week. Merry Christmas !!! :)

And I cannot explain how fantastic it is to hear that my videos have this effect on you. It makes the whole process worth it just hearing your comments. So thanks for that. PS I'm not sure if I mentioned it in the postcard but I filmed the segment where I opened up your gift and it will be posted within 10 days or so.
