We should all petition Netflix, Hulu and other streaming channels to carry Mr. Rogers re-runs. There are no kids shows out there these days that can come close to having the impact on new generations as his old shows can. I wish I'd had Mr Rogers' Neighborhood to show my son as he was growing up (he's too old to get into them now). Even if the clothes are outdated, I think he'd still resonate with little ones today.

@@josefsteiner1544 and The Ichiban, I think that these letters are very private and once I did ask him if I could share one of them with a group, and he said in one of his letters 'I don't know anything about that group, but we have always considered our correspondence as personal and private communication and not for general publication. I hope you will understand.' It was something that I fully did understand and thusly, have respected his wish for it to remain private. Perhaps that is why I could not openly share them. I might make some pictures of the things I received from him, but the contents of the letters I wish to keep private because they are comments of very personal stories that I shared with him.

The worst thing anyone can find is a VERY OUT OF CONTEXT photo of him flipping off an audience of children, while laughing. XD It was completely unintentional. He was teaching them to count on their fingers on camera, and the method he used left him with both of his middle fingers up when he got to the number "two". He had a laugh at himself about it as he knew it was an obscene gesture but he knew the kids wouldn't recognize it either. XD The man was so pure. I miss him dearly.

You see, there *IS* another Mr Rogers out there, and it is you, me, and each and every one of us... See, Fred Rogers gave us the means, and the tools... Now, it is up to us... *ALL* of us, to carry on what he started...

Dana says- I still can't watch clips of Mr Rogers without crying. As a child of a broken home who watched his show, he made me feel safe and secure and understood. He made me feel like I was good enough, just like I was. He obviously had a huge impact on all the children who once watched his shows, and the absence of his kind heart, mind and voice really shows in the generations who have come since then. He taught common decency, how to love everyone- even if they are different or we don't agree. He taught us how to love ourselves and be kind to ourselves, without doing so at the expense of others. He taught us to appreciate everything and wonder at the little things in life. What a wonderful, God-fearing man he was. The people who never knew him or his show really missed out on something life-changing and wonderful.

I must say this publicly Fred Rogers was a modern day Saint from heaven that many people today don,t care about anymore and would like to forget how important he was and how much of a wonderful human being he was.Are people that horrible now with those thumbs down comments? This has to be from the young people of today under 40 or under 30 who can,t feel the magic and wonder this man gave for over 30 years to people of all ages! What does it take to get people to believe that God put him on this earth for over 73 years to show us the way of life through kindness and caring. Heroes are hard to come by. I was born in 1969, and from the very first time I watched Mr. Rogers, King Friday, and Henrietta Pussycat, I was mesmerized. His message was so affirming, and his cadence was slow and thoughtful. He embodied love, acceptance, and taking a stand against evil. He was much more than a messenger of tolerance. He was also a strong man who was unafraid to support ideas and people he knew made the world a better place. What a beautiful and inspirational man. He is no longer part of this material world, but we can all try to be more like Fred Rogers.

We had three television channels so Mr. Rogers on PBS was something I watched daily for many years. But within minutes of watching this documentary, hearing his voice again, being welcomed back into the neighborhood and the land of make believe the tears started to flow. I watched Mr. Rogers everyday when I was young. I learned so many things. Things I didn't learn in school so when special people were brought in to talk about topics, I had answers I had no right to have. One asked me if I played the violin since I knew all the terms. I said no. He then asked how do you know all of this? I replied: "I watch Mr. Rogers." A bunch of kids laughed since I was now in the 6th grade ( but with a home life that made his show often the only kindness in my world ) The man then said "I don't know why you're all laughing. She got the questions right. None of you did."
Years later I had a son and while it had been 15 years since I had seen Mr. Rogers I had no problem with settling down to watch him again with my child. I wrote on behalf of my son and received a letter for him, photos of all the cast and a signed one of Mr. Rogers & a letter for ME! Personalized! He thanked me for sending extra postage (I wasn't sure if they filmed at station 13 in Pittsburg still or someplace else & this was before the internet so I mailed the letter to the station with a special postage to go from State to State in case he was taping elsewhere) & he answered other personal things in the letter that made it clear he had read it and signed it. He may have dictated the letter to be typed but the signatures on the photo and letter were the same and match others I have seen online since.
The world has rarely seen such a caring individual. I was graced to have him balancing out many of the ugly things I was hearing in my childhood. While my son didn't hear that at home, he did at school and Mr. Rogers comforted him as a father figure in a way I couldn't.
There is a void where he once was.

Fred Rogers was a TRULY great human being.
I believe so many of us have tears thinking about him because we miss his being there, caring for and about each of us in a personal way.
    We're all Fred's children.

I miss watching Mr. Rogers. 44 yrs old and still looking on you tube to see reruns. I like you just the way you are too wish there were more neighbors like him. #143.

This man was the greatest. I grew up with him, and he's one of the few reasons my faith in humanity isn't completely shattered. I hope that I get a chance to see him in the afterlife. He was and always will be my hero. *sniffs loudly*

I will always love the episode of Arthur that he was on. Arthur was my homie grown up, so see mr. Rogers on there, man that was some good stuff.

Kaysee Coward do you remember how in between little Arthur episodes they would have that now a word from us kids moment? But this time they had the behind-the-scenes part where they interviewed Mister Rogers and showed us how they made the episode. I will never forget that.

that debut actually coincided with a rerun of the MRN ep ft author Marc Brown, creator of the near-sighted aardvark and his Elwood City friends, as a guest

I never had him in my life until now, and I'm 25 yeard old. However, ever since I got to know about him, the sincerity in his eyes and genuine care in his words have made me cry like a baby. Simple words like "you are special" manage to touch something inside me, and I feel so happy to have footage of a human being like him. I envy all children who had the opportunity to grow with him, and I hope that he's managed to pass his message on to at least one of them.
