I’ve told You in the past that I like the way You load. You don’t waste bullets. You don’t waste a lot of time. I like Your systematic approach. Also, I appreciate that there isn’t a bunch of foul language. THANK YOU. I appreciate You!
Agreed. I been crying over the lack of content on 6mm mongoose for a while now but I guess arc is what people are willing to take mainstream. The 6mm mongoose actually can match velocities by the inch but you can use your 223 bolt and mags. Oh well, the fate of a wild cat
Hey Jeff totally agree with Johnnys professionalism and no foul language, his videos are very informative to us reloaders. Keep up the great videos Johnny
I just built a 6 ARC and remembered you did a allot with 6 ARC too! hope you're doing well man. I wish you were still making videos, I recently got even more interested in loading shotgun I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but your pressure trace series would have been really interesting and helpful in that endeavor
Thanks for the writeup Johnny - I've been sticking with 105Bergers/W748 and 105Bergers/LeverLoution. Problem right now is brass. I've been making PILES of 6ARC brass from starline, just processed 220 cases yesterday and have another small pile to go. 223 YOUR FIRED!!! - I dumped 223 loading.
Shooting like this, We try and alleviate the variables. I’ve been using the same Rockchucker for decades. I never would have thought a press could be a problem, as long as it was a quality build.
This is some nice content. I've been loading for about 30years, wish I had time to do tests like this. I have a 6DTI upper coming and am having a good time checking out all the similar 6mm AR cartridges. 75grv max and Benchmark is going to be my first try. Really wanted to start off with H4895 but the stuff is not possible to find. I considered the 6mm ARC but the DTI/WOA/6x6.8 has a little higher velocity with the 65 to 85gr bullets that I will be using. Nice shooting BTW
Speaking of short throats, i have been loading for my new M70 270Win and just the other day checked my seating depths with a Hornady modified case (should have done this from the start). The listed seating depth on all 3 bullets i have tried so far have been longer than my throat’s maximum. I had been testing all my loads just to find out i had been jamming every single one into the lands, some as much as 0.075!! The gun shot decent (not great) and didnt show any signs of overpressure on the cases, even going above max listed loads. Crazy. Just shows that before you EVER load up a single round, CHECK YOUR THROAT! Even factory Fed ‘blue box’ ammo was jamming the lands.
@@jmkhenka Hornady brass is not crap you are comparing hornady to the best brass you can get. If you think hornady brass is crap use winchester or remington, or any other popular ammo manufacturer's brass they are shit compared to hornady.
I would assume the accuracy would be hit and miss with all of those lighter bullets as the 6mm arc is a 7.5 twist and geared toward heavys. Awesome video. Thank you for the content. I just put together a 20in Faxon heavy flute barrel 6mm arc and I am following your channel to help me learn. So thank you sir.
I know this an old video but what others and I have found is ejecter swipes in gas guns are just how this cartridge behaves. Even with lighter loads. Its more a timing issue rather than loads being too hot.
Some weird outliers here or there, yeah, there's barely a difference between the two - this is pretty comprehensive! I've been trying to find a way to compare my RCBS Summit Press with my other RCBS press, but it's a lot more difficult than you think.
Very encouraging. Really appreciate all the time, energy & resources you are putting into these tests. Great job. Excellent data. Liking this chambering alot.
Yep, my dad was a .243-win shooter and I have a boatload projectile to shoot. The most of them are 85-90 grain and wasn't sure if 6mm ARC was for me. I am 6.5 Grendel fan and will stay one. I guess I will be looking for a new barrel and get the dust off of the boxes of .243 bullets. Get job on the ARC
The beauty of the 6mm is, you can change the mission with the grain of the slug. But, 6mm is hampered by the desire to retrofit it into the .223 platform.
6mm ARC! I finally found ammo for mine...wish there were other companies making the brass. Maybe try not wrapping your thumb around the back of the grip...just rest it to the right side like a bench rest shooter. I find that gives me a more consistent trigger press.
The non-uniform tips will cause slight variations in BCs. While muzzle SD may be quite consistent, down range each bullet will be shedding speed at a slightly different rate. This probably doesn't account for much of your deviation between muzzle SD and 100y SD, but it certainly will have an effect, and becomes more pronounced the further the distance.
I enjoyed your video and results. I bought ammo (Hornady Black) because 6mm ARC brass is unavailable. I look forward to seeing how my new 18" CMMG barrel works on my newly constructed AR-based gun. I am going to try Win 748 just because I have a ton of it. I have a bunch of bullets to try from that are from 80 to 95 grains.
Says something about Arc when you can grab 10 bullets a random charge weight of 10 powders and get 1/2 of them to shoot under 1 moa. And I’m betting a couple more were the result of a loose suppressor or switching dies. Can’t wait to build one
I run the 75 and 87 grain vmax in my 243 over IMR 4451. Get 1/2 MOA groups from both bullets with that powder. May be worth a shot to try in the 6mm arc as well. I'm headed this weekend to test 90 gr gamechangers in my 6mm Creedmoor.
I'm behind the times..oh well..Benchmark is excellent powder with the correct percentage of case fill. 8208xbr excels right above high pressure signs, hard on brass with best accuracy loads
My Hornady brass makes the same smear and sometimes burr in Grendel, way below max loads. The Starline, in comparison, doesn't seem to show ejector marks nearly as easily.
How about the 85gr TSX and 90gr GMX. I haven't found anyone working up lead free hunting loads. I'm especially interested because Savage will be offering their Axis II bolt gun in 6 ARC later this year.
Congratulations 👏 agin on 100,000k Awsome video on light bullets must guys loading heavy 103-110 gr. Love the noslers in 243win. Winchesters use load them factory as Ballistics Silvertip. Give N550 a try, having good luck with it. I started at 30 grains with the 90 gamechanger. Haven’t tried it with the heavies yet but my speed matches leverevolution
Congrats on the subs.... How about a comparison of the 6 ARC vs 6 PPC? Maybe take some 68 Barts and compare velos and accuracy with charges of N133, BenchMark, IMR 8208 seated the same off the lands? While not a BR gun per se, I bet your AR in ARC could do reasonably well.

@Johnny's Reloading Bench - In my reloading 6.5 Grendel using Hornady brass I've had some issues with the cases stretching and showing signs of case head separation within 3 to 4 firings where others in the same lot have made it to 6 or 7 firings with no problems at all. Another RUclipsr who goes by Hazzbro has had the same problems. I don't have a way to test it for hardness but it makes me think some of the cases are a lot softer than they should be. I'm wondering if you have had any similar issues with Grendel or 6mm ARC Hornady brass?
answer me this, you said 2 different presses, wouldnt you think more of a difference woiuld be from the dies and the bullets, such as the bullet might seat different bc the ogive or bullets are not exactly the same. what i mean is i know for a fact the COL could be different from each round just bc of the bullet and how the die seats it?

Any other advice? Thanks! Keep the videos coming!
