- Mike Eaton gives a pruning masterclass, pruning Sauvignon Blanc vines in Marlborough. We look at some of the decisions that have to be made in cane pruning, working with very young, slightly older and then mature vines in the Awatere Valley.
What a fantastic video/lesson you did! I realy like that you show so many different situation / problems / needs for a decission AND explain your choice each time in several aspects. Thanks a lot "Danke schön!" have an excellent harvest to come. Best wishes from Germany
The explanation at around 2:52 about the osmotic nature of sap flow was very useful in choosing better spurs. Thanks for uploading and thanks to Mike Eaton for taking the time.
After having done years of pruning in Marlborough myself, it is pleasure to see Mike's style. Great choices and sustainable way of pruning. If only all the pruning in the region was done this way which unfortunately is not the case.
Fantastic to watch; like any profession, it is fascinating to observe someone who knows their trade. Those are not the places I would have pruned - but that is why he is the winemaker, and I can barely grow grass at home.
This is really interesting jobs. I love this prunning job.
Excellent tutorial. Thank you.
Ma un dubbio , ma i grappoli sono andati in maturazione, perché ho visto molti grappoli essiccati come mai! Mala potatura ,sono italiano della Puglia e sono di mestiere, rispondi! Grazie
Awesome demonstration but the horizontal big cuts are killing me! Always on an angle for moisture runoff.
