I'm a huge Manix fan and I also don't care for the Yojo. The ball bearing lock I also prefer to the compression lock. The exclusive and sprint Manix skeletonized liners I'd like to see brought to the base Manix since it takes the weight down to 4.1 to 4.2 ounces from the 5. As far as a wave goes, I used to not like them. I used one at work for a while and while at first it seemed to be a novelty I now see it as a great one handed opening method when I have to keep a hold on something else. For me it's a great utility feature.
Couldn't agree more. This version of the Manix 2 is a bit too heavy for some (5oz) but I carry a bunch of crap with me everyday anyway, so it never really bothered me. Skeletonized liners might just put it in that perfect zone of about 4 oz though....With waves, it all depends on the knife. (I hated it on the Y2 but love it on the M2 for example) but when it fits the design of a knife just right, it's extremely handy. Appreciate you tuning in by the way. New giveaway coming soon. :)
I'll admit... the Yojimbo ² is one of the few purely defense blades I carry, for when I can't pack lead. I felt a little silly about purchasing it at first, but I needed a cutting edge under 3" that folds into my pocket, and grew to love it. I trust the Spyderco compression lock like I do the Cold Steel Tri-Ad. I can have yojimbo ² deployed in two seconds without a wave feature, and it melts into my hand very sturdy. The Wharncliffe shape is actually really really good for light utility tasks as well, one just has to be mindful not to put too much pressure on the thin tip and edge.
Truth. I switched to a fox 599 karambit for my edc when not carrying a mechanism. Lil faster deploying but no utility so I always have to carry a secondary too. Kind of a pain but still a lot less weight than a piece and an extra mag.
I hit up the flashlight video, and I agree with your reasonings in this one. The Manix is just way more practical, the Yojimbo has such a delicate tip despite being one of my very favorite designs. Great video and discussion, now let's go Wave the world.
Appreciate it! I like waves for sure, but some knives are better (for me) without them. When it fits the design it's extremely handy though. Thanks for checking that out for me. New giveaway coming to the channel soon!
Yojimbo & Yojumbo both are Dynomite Knife but yes they are.combat implements more so then a ordinary EDC and if that Yojimbo is still available for that Duece I'm in for that price all day long. We all have different taste that's how come they make so many designs at Spyderco.
Good question! Completely fine until I got sick of it and took it off for no reason. I just get bored sometimes. haha Worked well while I had it on though. No issues.
Little late to this but I agree 5x5 is a rip off. Not to mention I ordered two that were supposed to fit either pm2 or pm3 and no it does not fit the pm3.
The Yojimbo 2 will slice deeper and longer when swinging your arm in the natural radius motion that's just a fact with Wharncliffe blade. A blade with belly will naturally want to slip out of the cut with said motion. Michael Janich as well as other personal-defense trainers have spoken on this several times and done demonstrations on a pig carcass. The physics behind this makes sense, but of course I had to try for myself🤷. Sometimes seeing/doing is believing, and no I didn't waste the meat 🍖😋😉.
Good review. Thanks for the video. Manix 2 is the best ever. My favorite knives (M2 and M2XL). I agree, the Emerson add on is “slightly overpriced” like... by 35 bucks 😆 Enjoyed the video.
Couldn't find the Valkyrie II vide. Nevertheless looks like premium content. No need to be too clever the content is concise and interesting ergo Subscribed.
It's weird (but kinda cool) I prefer the YJ2 without the wave but instant deployment on a self defense blade is pretty compelling. Appreciate ya playa!
Good thing we aren't all about looks around here. 😂 The idea is one-hand operation that's faster than an auto. Removed from the manix eventually and the yojimbo went to a subscriber. 👍
The Manix 2 and Manix 2 XL are formidable defense blades themselves. An all around fantastic edc blade that serves multiple roles including defense.
you sell it? i know it was 3 years ago
Just saw this! Yup she’s gone 🙁

It is a thin tip, but if you aren’t prying on it which why would you, you don’t have anything to worry about.
Any other brands that make a wave similar to the one you built?
Three wise men makes one better than mine for sure…
@ did you mean wise men company? I didn’t see any from “three wise men”
you've probably heard of the og 'ghetto wave'....? put a ziptie in a spyderhole and wave via the knob.
At 6:20 you demonstrated hand entering pocket on wrong side of knife. Just a note for next one.
I make mistakes constantly on this channel... 🤣
Still for sale??

And that's a beautiful thing! Thanks for tuning in. 👍
How is the little kydex “wave” holding up over time?
Good question! Completely fine until I got sick of it and took it off for no reason. I just get bored sometimes. haha Worked well while I had it on though. No issues.

That's very kind of you. Appreciate it!
I asked a question of 5by5 never got a response so won't buy from them.
Really? I never received a response either. No great.

Yojimbo with an Emerson? Awesome

@@5MinuteKnives 🤘🏻
Awesome
Cool
Holy moly those wave attachments are absolutely atrocious. Way to make a beautiful knife look like complete poop 😂
