This wasn't his most hifi album because this was a mostly digitized album. The only thing that was recorded analog was MJ's vocals, all the other beats were produced with Pro Tools.
You obviously weren’t around at this time 😂 a ton of r&b songs had this tone during this time and this was Michael trying something “new” which was resemblance of what r&b songs sounded like at that period.

There are certain imperfections in this song that you usually hear in today's Lofi music aka chill music. If you take away the ocals and just listen to the beat, you'd hear what I'm talking about.

One of my favorite songs! This was written by Marsha Ambrosious (The Songstress from Floetry) very early on in her career. Michael heard it and wanted it for his album. That’s also her singing in the background. Marsha sang this song for her 2011 album too.
