I believe the ATF and waited until after hours when a judge was not available. So they would have gotten the warrant from a Magistrate. This is a common practice by the ATF to avoid a judge who might question or deny their request.

ATF can't afford to have people thinking that you can just legally be some hobbyist from Arkansas that pays taxes & stays out of trouble while he's buying, selling, and trading firearms with his buddys...
