There are many Tommy interviews all over the place, and somehow, he NEVER tires or telling and re-telling his stories. These are great stories, some historical and all important. Thanks Tommy for continuing to "submit" to these interviews. You're very generous with your time.
That is what Tommy does. He rules, and hides nothing while telling those stories on stage, and I'd bet that he would love to be de-throned, if only to find someone FUN, to work with as a peer.
One of the few that can pack an auditorium by showing alone with three guitars. Kottke still does as well but he's lost much of the fire from his '70's era shows.
There are so many wonderful guitarist in the world but Tommy is one of my favorites. His heart and emotions just come through his playing. A melody that is clear and concise much like Chet. He too is leaving his musical mark on the world. Such a humble and great guy! Glad i got to see this tonight.
Considering he is one of the most accomplished guitar players on the planet, he remains humble and grounded. Puts some of the better known superstars to shame. Genuinely nice bloke.
@@GuitarGathering phenomenal talent! I know this sounds daft but if you watch him playing when he’s in the groove, there’s something ‘other worldly’ about his movements.
Absolutely! I’ve heard him say in interviews that he believes he has a calling and you have to wonder. His whole story is amazing, I mean writing to his childhood idol from another continent then eventually becoming his protégé. Chet Atkins must’ve been getting lots of fan mail in those days before email.
I agree with you 100% and Tommy has done so many interviews all over the world. Tommy is a class act and a humble human being. In the 80's I use to watch him and his equally talented brother Phil - 'The Emmanual Brothers' in pubs around Sydney, Australia. So damn good, entertaining AND funny.
Steve's comment about famous players leaving an imprint of their DNA on you is important. We all improve not just because of our dedication and dogged determination to succeed but also through the inspiration of others. We need those rare individuals who motivate us to follow our passions and instil in us the will to become not just better players but, more importantly, better people. The old saying "If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants" rings true in every way when it comes paving the way for others to follow.
Congratulation for the winners of our DL CABLES / Tommy’s Signature line. It’s a huge honor for me to manufacture cables named by the best artists in the world 🙌
" I'm trying to get good at it" had me in stitches. That was really great to watch. I'm a super-fan of Tommy anyway, if he ran for president of the world I'd vote for him. He always leaves me smiling and inspired. For me, this particular interview, I need to sort my guitars out. I've been living with their issues for far too long, they are embarrassingly far from set up correctly.
Listening to Tommy and Steve play "Sunny Side of the Street: brought a tear to my eye as it was my father's favorite song and he's been gone for 45 years! Thank you so much. Steve your interview with Tommy was one of the best I've seen. Congratulations!
Thanks to you for being able have Tommy Emmanuel on your video and for him doing this. I'm a big fan of his. There's nobody quiet like his style of playing. He, in my opinion; is the best.
It always feels nice and lovely to hear TE talk as much as to listen to his playing... Very useful, and selfless suggestions n tips.... such a humble n witty man.... and that's why he is the only one THE TOMMY EMMANUEL... bless you TE❤❤❤❤
Great interview! Love the story behind "Song for a Rainy Morning." The bridge is so beautiful! The creative process is such a sweet journey. It's nice to hear Tommy talk about that.
Hi from South Africa. What a great show and interview. Tommy is such an inspiration. Thank you Steve. Just love the part where you played together. Would love to see an interview with Brent Mason also.
Thanks Rudolph. Yes, what a great show. Brent would be great. We've had him at our summer conference but he has never done the live lesson show. I'll think about working that out. Hope you're doing well.

Tommy you are a great guitarist and your playing really inspired me to practice more. Great entertainer musician. Thank you Tommy. Could you tell me what size strings you use?
Tommy Emmanuel is 9 months, almost to the day younger than me. I'll have to say that Tommy Emmanuel is my most favorite guitar player, he's far better than Chet Atkins because his style is more versatile then Chet. I always tell others that, if I could play as good as Tommy Emmanuel I would be satisfied. Super great pickin Tommy. 🤗
Seems funny, I was the same way in the beginning with the bass. I had to figure out how to do it together as best as I could because I didn't know the difference. I only had a radio.
@victorjcano, not sure if he always uses the same type, but usually for flat pick it's a D'Andrea Pro Plec (rounded) 1.5mm, and thumb pick is Jim Dunlop medium. Cheers.
Tommy is a PRO-fessional, guitar player. What is that? It means "Tommy, we are doing an AIR SUPPLY album, can you create a part so that the song sells a billion copies"... "Sure.. = "All out of LOVE"... .That's Tommy.... So, what is a Pro-fessional? It means you can play.. It means that if Tommy woke up on MARS, and the Martians handed Tommy an acoustic guitar made by SEARS, that He's never played before....Tommy can play it so well that all the Martians will think that "Tommy is s God"... Lets us all kneel...""... So, that is a Pro-fessional. That is TALENT.. and that took YEARS of his LIFE to achieve it...............

Ouch yes that is what I ve heard, thanks!
Imagine being in a room watching Tommy Emmanuel, Chet Atkins and Lenny Breau doing a jam session together. Wow!
Great interview, Tommy E is a treasure.
There's just no one like Tommy Emanuel! He is amazing to hear live.

Tommy being generous with what he’s learned in his life time. Great video.
Humble and maybe the best all around guitar player on the planet. Love your music Tommy!

A good spiritual musician is someone who is not only skilled at playing an instrument but also excels at speaking beautifully. ❤
Great interview! Love the story behind "Song for a Rainy Morning." The bridge is so beautiful! The creative process is such a sweet journey. It's nice to hear Tommy talk about that.
This was a blast. I think one of my fav parts was the duet y'all did on "Sunny Side of the Street." SO solid. Thanks again for the shoutout, as well!
Kirby, it was joy seeing you and catching up a bit.
The question (and answer) about looking after aging issues was excellent
I love Tommy I saw him in Los Angeles last year.
I could literally watch Tommy interviews all day!! This was a great one, thank you!

Tommy you are a great guitarist and your playing really inspired me to practice more. Great entertainer musician. Thank you Tommy. Could you tell me what size strings you use?
Tommy has a signature set made by Martin. I believe they are Martin SP's. He mentioned how he was using them that night.
Steve! Great episode!

Perfect !!! As always :)

I cannot believe how talented he is. A plateu of playing I will never rech cuz I am 56 and that ship sailed.
Anyone know the name of that first song ?
I notice even when Tommy is talking he still taps his feet a lot of the time.
Finally with Tommy Emmanuel😅
