- Archie painted those fancy little designs on horse-drawn wagons and carriages over 100 years ago. He painted furniture too. He earned a good living and had a decent reputation. Archie had a sense of humor that he suppressed in his wagon paintings but created sketches and paintings depicting mostly children in funny everyday situations. Find out about another of Archie's paintings in this episode of Paul Harvey's "The Rest of the Story."

I can see Archie's father looking down with pride upon the finished painting... There's much history in the artists patriotic rendition...
I agree. It's stunning to know just how much went into the painting. :)
When you first described which painting it was I literally blurted out "Yankee Doodle." 😂
You're on top of your game today. :)
What a wonderful story Brad! I love that painting, and it seems to depict a time when love of country was much greater. Have a Happy and safe 4th of July! As always God bless you and your family. Thanks for everything you do!! God bless the USA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you very much, Martin. I've always liked that painting, as well as its many alternate forms. God bless you too, my friend. :)
We cry when hearing about this or when the poem “I Am The Flag” is read at a veteran’s funeral or when we look at The Wall of the Vietnam Memorial, not from pain or sadness, rather in gratitude for those that offered their all.
Pain and sadness are there it is true however gratitude over shines them.
That's true. I think we should show our gratitude more often. We should do it in our daily lives. :)
WOW! Over the top on this one, Brad!
There is so much of our history that lies in vaults and libraries and other places, and people such as yourself have the knowledge and 'push' to dig it out. I felt so proud watching this one, as it just may be your best so far!
I offer you hugs for posting this video on the 4th!
Thank you very much for the kind words, BiteMe. Like you said...there is so much of our history just waiting to be brought to light. Not that it's necessarily hidden, it just hasn't been investigated in a while. I hope you had a nice 4th of July. I ate too much. hahaha. :)

Hi Brad, where do you get these PAUL HARVEY SHOWS? My husband found out he's the son of a famous NFL star Ernie Nevers. There was a Paul Harvey show on him, but it's gone, can't find it anywhere, can you help?
I'm glad you're enjoying the episodes. I'll see if I can find the one on Ernie Nevers. :)
Happy 4th!
