That and he is useful. As backstabby as Starscream is, he has good plans and can do good work. Its just either his own ambitions or agendas get in the way.
I love the sudden change in attitude of Starscream. He is super confident at first proclaiming he personally oversaw the operation, but as soon as Soundwave says something’s missing he goes into full panic mode. 😂

Well they managed to repair Optimus completely when he was literally torn limb from limb but somehow he still died from less mutilating injuries in the movie.
CLLOSE probably isn't an error, remember there was an animation team involved here that probably had to take a few hours just to draw that zooming image, there's no way somebody on the team didn't notice. I think it's intentional since Starscream wrote the sign and knowing him yeah it is pretty in character of him to misspell such a simple word

Are you serious??? Starscream constantly tries to back stab Megatron and is always plotting to take over the decepticons. He's attempted to kill Megatron in multiple occasions or has tried setting him up so he gets killed. Starscream is extremely lucky that Megatron doesn't straight up kill him much less beat him up.

I miss these days when the bad guy leader could be as violent and belligerent as wanted to his own people and it was always seen as humorous. It is interesting though how much this idea has been reexamined in different shows, with how Megatron's bullying Starscream is shown. I just saw how in that new show, Earth Spark, it's seen that Starscream actually seems to have PTSD from Megatron's treatment more so than anything he experienced during the war.
