I really *really* want to like this game, but there's just so much about it that turns me off: the management aspect, the abysmal friendly AI, the game's idea of increasing difficulty by throwing more and bigger mechs at you -- the list goes on. I hope to see a Periphery campaign in the future, because frankly I'm tired of successor houses getting all the screentime. Ass tier soundtrack? Alright, I'm not gonna argue with your tastes. Taste in music is nothing to be debated. I'll just say that loaded the entire OST onto my smartphone and listen to it on the regular.
Nice intro! I only play solo but mods are a must! I think at any given time I have 30-40 mods working together and the game it just amazing! Don’t get me wrong it’s a bitch to get them all working but man it’s more than worth it once it runs smooth.
Great info here! I just picked up the game while it was on sale recently, so I'll wait again and get the DLC's in a similar manner... IN the mean time, I'll mod it. I'll share this with the other MW fans I play with every once in a while, if they haven't already picked up on these points!
intro is awesome nice work: if the backing track isn't your own creation, please give the songwriter/performer(s) the credit/links in the description. (also because I would like to know who wrote/performed the track, for example, and the artist may get a buck from me)
I just tried this game. It's big robots smashing shit. It was as fun as it needed to be. I have to admit that it isn't beginner friendly but it's not too hard to get the hang of.
Great video, thanks for the tips, I have but one Question, I read that in coop only the host can work on the mechs, is it a mod that allows other players to do it themselfe or am I missinformed?
If there was one word to describe MW5 its "meh". It just doesn't capture the "spark" or the passion, or well really anything the previous games had, other than big stompy robots. This doesn't surprise me given its in essence just MWO singleplayer edition. A good game is in there, you just need to mod it lol
I would agree with that. I'm not a massive fan, but there's a reason I've sunk so many hours into it. It's got that "one more mission" kind of addictive quality that makes games like Stardew Valley and Monster Hunter so eminently playable.
Thanks for all the tips. Just started playing the campaign; Will likely finish in vanilla then go career mode with mods. Anyone know where I can get the image in desktop res at 16:25? It's amazing!
Not sure which Mech Warrior game was my first. Think it was MechWarrior 3 though. All I remember is that it had a lot of issues playing as it would crash mid mission 1 out of every 4 attempts, though that could have just been my crappy computer at the time. My favorite mech had to be the Dashi, sadly my younger self didn’t really think thing through and would usually attach so many laser weapons to a single group that while I could blow off an enemies limb with one shot, it left my mech shutdown to cool off. Worse of all, if I ever used the All-Out-Attack it would instantly overload my core and go nuclear. Fun game that I remember fondly, but I haven’t touched another MechWarrior game since. Hopefully my PS4 can handle it and the game proves amusing without the mods.
I still have them all along with the manuals and books. Including the specs for each mech and this mob have totally f`d it up. No more support from me.
I got this for Xbox a few weeks ago . 40 years of tramping the Inner Sphere, and I can only muster 345 tons across 4 mechs. My reputation is 13 and I can barely survive, much less profit from, missions "recommended " for reputation 11. I want a bigger dropship and at least another deployable lance
Part of the game, mech warrior 4 and the mech commander games is managing the weight limit. At least in 5 you can go over it, but with a payment/salvage penalty. IMO, if this aspect of the game annoys you, then you should play a different game.
A point into repair costs never hurts if you are starting off very early and weak. And don't be afraid to replay missions. I'm starting a career as house marik and the fact is I can't field the tonnage recommended for difficulty 7 missions. It costs a ton of money to search for equipment. If I lose a mech... i won't be recovering from that. You just spiral into death afte rthat. And I'm not afraid of using YAML bullet time with the magic speed aspect turned off. Light mechs are fucking horrendous and maybe there are some that are worth it but since I'm newb I haven't seen a 20 tonner yet that I wouldn't be better off just not taking in exchange for 3 mechs, one of which is 20 tons heavier. But I digress. Splattercat has a good starting mod list as well.
Mechwarrior Online is by far the best ones out there if you think about the feeling you get from playing it , the sounds and the controls make you feel like walking around in a 100 ton or 40 ton Mech :D a realy good game
I mean, I think your criticism is pretty harsh. Compared to probably 90 percent of modern mmp shooters, this game is actually pretty decent. It has some quirks, but it's not bad at all. I enjoyed it. Some of the limitations are challenging, but they are not game breaking. It's not as dynamic as something like titanfall 2, but it does capture a similar feel. Sort of feels like Pacific Rim. Comparing it to a game thats 27 years old is pretty pointless nowadays. Any hardcore PC gamer knows that 1997-2007 was the golden era of gaming overall. Devs are more intersted in trying to wow you with great graphics (which is good), but at the sacrifice of playability and giving a wide range of control to the player. This game doesn't back you into a corner, as it allows a pretty good bit of control. The multiplayer host options are some of the better ones I've seen in modern games, and does give a vib of how games used to be back in the early 2ks. You aren't stuck with matchmaking only, which is a huge plus. Too many games loose so much playablity by following with the EA style forced matches.
as a console peasant this was the first MechWarrior game i Truley got to play that being said its not beginner friendly (i can't figure out the upgrade system)

Fighting griffin' on the snow and winning it's almost as if the "hand of God" willed it
Found out this game is now made for Xbox, can’t wait to play it. Love the intro music what’s the name of it. Great video
coop requires friends though
Try the Everything Battletech Discord server. Tons of people who'd love to drop with you there! discord.gg/w3HSUGak
You got a sub just from the class of that intro clip.
Am on console and am new to Mechwarrior. Looks like a cool grimdark scifi place.
That's a lot of dead popes -mage leader
Cheers for all the tips and insight. Nice one fella 🙂😉
Somebody got inspired by the F-14 promo video from HeatBlur.
5:15 wait a minute in my Game the artillery doesnt fire, is that a mod or i have a bug?
With the mods, in the mod menu the tonnage remover is said to conflict with the yet another mech lab and the custom start mods.
intro is awesome nice work: if the backing track isn't your own creation, please give the songwriter/performer(s) the credit/links in the description. (also because I would like to know who wrote/performed the track, for example, and the artist may get a buck from me)
This Is War (Feat. Richard Farrell)
"Mage" put a lot of effort into this video. A surprising amount given the size of the audience for a game like this at the time.
The game is fun, the sound track is metal squared!
No Taurian Concordat or Magistrate or Canopus? I want my space Texas and space Vegas.
Those Factions are in the game, you just can't start with them without mods.
So glad I gave this game a second chance.
Song at the intro is “this is war”
Great video!! Keep them coming.......
Nice intro, and nice duncan fisher voice.
"...they're basically what happens when you forget to nuke a country a third time and let them go into space."
HOLY FUCK I CAN'T BREATH LMAO
If there was one word to describe MW5 its "meh". It just doesn't capture the "spark" or the passion, or well really anything the previous games had, other than big stompy robots. This doesn't surprise me given its in essence just MWO singleplayer edition.
A good game is in there, you just need to mod it lol
I would agree with that. I'm not a massive fan, but there's a reason I've sunk so many hours into it. It's got that "one more mission" kind of addictive quality that makes games like Stardew Valley and Monster Hunter so eminently playable.
i like the metal sound track
You hang out with ya boi Mage Leader on Discord, and then you get his channel in YT recs, nice.
Mechwarrioir makes me think of Mechassault back on the 2000s
Muuuh, any mods that make the mechs feel like giant stompy robots instead of floaty ballerinas? Mech Warrior 3 really captured that feeling the best.
Need a jumpship base. Like a starlord. Air strikes come from it. Rpg elements. Need to really upgrade a merc part of it.
Daaam ! that´s a nice intro !
Where do you get the music pack?
Part of the game, mech warrior 4 and the mech commander games is managing the weight limit. At least in 5 you can go over it, but with a payment/salvage penalty.
IMO, if this aspect of the game annoys you, then you should play a different game.
It's a good game I liked it.i hope they have more dlc
The flea is a great light mech
Hey, man. Walruses are fucking graceful!
I just got the game so far and its a lot of fun. I feel like its gonna get repetitive tho. Scratches my mech itch tho so w/e
Mechwarrior Online is by far the best ones out there if you think about the feeling you get from playing it , the sounds and the controls make you feel like walking around in a 100 ton or 40 ton Mech :D a realy good game
MWO sucks
I enjoyed this video.
What is the name of the soundtrack replacement mod?
43 sec in and I'm like damn he's cooking
That intro is inside. I really wish it was a standalone thing.
3:58 and here I am on console, having a blast
Fire intro
That MW2 soundtrack 🤙
as a console peasant this was the first MechWarrior game i Truley got to play
that being said its not beginner friendly (i can't figure out the upgrade system)
Is it good, and are you enjoying it? I downloaded it forever ago and never played it
Its pretty addicting@@hihosilver1234
@@hihosilver1234 i played the hell out of it and nearly 100% the game
I came for game advice and got a low-tier wannabe comic.
Pretty much yeah 😆
Game has same problem as battle tech only four mecks
Would be nice upgrade weapons and equipment from class one to two
The two mission quest you need extra mecks replace one that are damaged
Can you detail the all the mods you believe are a must. Also where are the mods available? 3 of my friends I are getting ready to play this together for the first time. We all use to play the table top version, and actually still do every now and then. Do you know if there is any issue playing co-op if some have the game via Steam and others have it via Epic? I appreciate any information you can provide. Thanks!
whats the name of that song at the beginning ? it rocks.
"This is War" by Meteor. As far as I know this song only exists as trailer music for a DCS world module.
I was starting to think this is was a music video.
Ok that intro was epic. I just got this game on PlayStation if anyone can help me
Don't ask OP, he'll be a petty little bitch about you not using a computer instead
Wish they had convoy intercept or ambush missions
the mechs are tanks on legs. gundams are more like giant machine human avatars.
Does anyone know what Hud mod he uses? I don't think he says.
That's no swimming pool, that's a cesspool, for doodoo.
