    "LOL JK I hate you now!" That is THE best thing I've ever heard about the way SJM ended Aelin and Chaol's relationship.
    I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said in this video. Especially the things about Chaol. He was also my favorite character, because he was the only normal/human one amongst all of them. How awesome was it that such a strong character like Celaena loved a regular/honorable/strong guy?? He was the one that supported her through all her internal struggle during the first two books. He didn't need to be more "special/magical/super strong" than her for him to be her love interest, as usually is with fantasy/romance books. But no, SJM had to get a SuperPoweredChaol AKA Rowan for her to love. As if he was actually better than Chaol.
    But what upset me the most in this book was Aelin and how much I hated her. How can I continue reading a series were I loathe the main character so so much? She became the most hypocritical character I have ever read. She judged Chaol for working for the enemy, but what about the 18 years she could have done something to help the kingdom?? He was taught all his life to believe what he was doing was the right thing, but she KNEW who she was all the time and that the world was all wrong. That's just ridiculous to me. Not mention all the other times she was hypocritical with other characters.
    I really would love to ask SJM why she hates Chaol so much.
    I will not read EOS, but I'm anxious to read/watch you thought about it. I have been checking your status updates on Goodreads and I can't wait the hear/read your thoughts.

      I agree. I was so disappointed about how Chaol was treated. I was still hoping that he has Aelin would make it up (especially because I still don't understand why she hated him so much in the first place - the scene where she attacks him made absolutely no sense to me) - and even though she didn't, It would've been kinda fine, had it not been for Rowan. I think him appearing was part of the reason this book was so much worse than the other three before - not only because he is a poorly developed character, but because there were just too many characters over all, and Rowan stole all the limelight - especially from Aedion. There was little written about him, so I was pretty eager to find out how he'd be - but quite honestly, he was such a flat character, like a blurr of Aelin+Rowan, that meant nothing to me. His lack of input was distressing, especially after his extensive rescue mission. Nesryn was also violently pushed to the side - I don't know if I quite like her, she seems to have been set up just so that Chaol isn't too lonely - which in my opinion is a very pitiful way of introducing a character - but she seemed like a good character.

      Vamos Ler OMG totally agree! I looooove Chaol and what SJM did to him in QOS was just not fair. Aelin was being SUCH a hypocrite 😵😵 I really really liked Celaena and Chaol together and also think she and Rowan were better as friends. Their relationship was so forced and some of their romantic scenes together were like reading bad fanfiction 🙈 it’s like she just “upgraded” from Chaol to Rowan. You don’t go from loving someone to hating them just like that 🙄 I honestly don’t know if I want to start on the fifth book. Only to read more about Manon is guess... she’s awesome, new Aelin kinda 😅

    I hate how much Aelin and Celaena are completely different people, just because your name changes doesn't mean you become a completely different person.

    • @awkwardguppy378
      @awkwardguppy378 4 года назад +19

      Except Aelin and Celaena are technically two different people. Yes, they share the same body, but they are not the same. Celaena was created as a defense mechanism to protect Aelin. It wasn't until Celaena worked through her inner struggles and turmoil that she was able to return back to who she originally was, which is Aelin. Aelin and Celaena have different personalities too, which can be seen in the last book as Aelin struggles to channel the swagger and confidence that was much of who Celaena was. Saying something like this also completely dismisses those who live with dissociative identity disorder (DID), as though they all share the same body, each personality has its own name and identity.
      (I know I'm a bit late to the response here since you wrote this two years ago.. but felt the need to get this out anyway).

    Omg this is so late but I JUST finished reading Queen of Shadows and I can't agree with you more. To me, I tried shipping Rowan and Aelin and can't do it. They felt forced and their "love" was soooo instantaneous it was insane. Rowan was Aelin's lapdog basically, always there and territorial if her COUSIN comes near her??? Those are red flags for their relationship. Also, I got SO annoyed that they ruined Chaol. Nesryn is such a plot device that was added in at last minute to make it look like Chaol had been with someone else, but I call bullshit. I think that was yet another way to get Rowaelin shoved down our throats, also Chaol would NEVER call Aelin a monster, never. One final thing, I hated how many times a male is mentioned in these books, they are ALWAYS talked about as "wall of muscles" "massive body", like we get it. :P

      Seeing the heterosexuality as a norm and ignoring the other possibilities, basically. In this situation, it's what I meant.
      I use this term instead of homophobia or anything like that because the author wasn't directly offensive towards the LGBT. She was just too limited to realize the potential between characters from the same gender
      And not only all the important characters are in heterosexual relationships, but all these relations have the same dynamic, and all males from book seems to act the exactly same way in romance. I really felt, reading these books, that, in a romatic relationship, the author kind of divided how the male and how the female act with their love interest

Also, Manon and Dorian? Did SJM have to pair everyone with everyone? A boy and a girl meet, and they HAVE to fuck each other. The only platonic relationships between opposite sexes are between relatives, like Aelin and Aedion.

  • @wordsmae
    @wordsmae 8 лет назад +36

    I kinda got why she wanted to dissociate from Celaena because that was her coping mechanism and she did not need that anymore. And I think she associates Celaena with a lot of killing, blood, violence and weakness (from her childhood up to present day). I preferred Aelin in the previous book because she felt like an enhanced version of Celaena, more grown up and matured and stronger. I don't quite understand why she can't open up about her various plans and rendezvous through city at night though. I don't remember her being very distrustful as Aelin in the third book or any of her recollections of her childhood. I think her character in this book was a very weird mix of Aelin and Celaena and I guess that happens when you've had to have hidden so many different aspects of yourself your whole life. Was it the fact that she was completely used to carrying out her missions alone when she was an assassin that drove her to hide everything from everyone? But it wasn't only Aelin that did a lot of hiding, I felt that Chaol did as well. I still can't rationalise why they were so antagonistic towards each other the whole two-thirds of the book. But at the same time when they put arguments aside that didn't particularly feel comforting/satisfactory because it's as if their issues with each other weren't address and seemed to just vanished into thin air.
    I have a lot of issues with Chaol since the 3rd book and this book just pretty much cemented a lot of my annoyance towards him. I didn't feel any chemistry at all between Chaol and Nesryn either. It's as if Sarah forgot how to weave characters together romantically and so she desperately just tosses their names together and suddenly they're in love.
    I felt like Rowan had more substance to him in the previous book as well. I do ship Rowan and Aelin but I wish that their relationship flowed more *naturally* into romantic one because they did have a kind of telepathic bond in the previous book. And with regards to Aedion I think he's just put Aelin on a pedestal since they were kids and after so many years of thinking that she was dead, I understood why he acted the way he did.
    Sarah J Maas was very very off when it came to most of the characters in this book and the relationships between them. I hope Dorian's character isn't butchered next :/

    • @AClockworkReader
      @AClockworkReader  8 лет назад +9

      +Buddingnoise
      I completely agree that Adeion has put her on a pedestal and I can see why he did it but I think what bothers me so much about that is that everyone else in the book does the same thing with her. And I feel like its unnecessary and excessive to have EVERY character in the book look at her that way.
      And I also agree that almost every character in this book did feel off. It honestly felt like Maas forgot who her characters were in the previous books? And that was my biggest issue with the whole book. Everyone just felt wrong and their characterization just didn't fit in with the rest of the series.
      And I swear, if Dorian is ruined in the next book, I may just have to give up because he is my only hope left in this book (next to Manon of course) and I can't see him destroyed as well.

    Great review!!! I feel the same way about Aelin trying to dissociate herself with Celaena. I mean, to try and forget all her memories as Celaena would be hypocritical, it’d be exactly what she did 10 years ago. I mean I understand it, because she hated Arobynn and he helped craft Celaena’s persona.
    I did feel her as though her character changed drastically. I also thought Chaol did a little as well. It felt as though they were 2 entirely new people, with no history. And when they met again or reunited it was just not at all what I was expecting! I mean I didn’t expect hugs and kisses but they were incredibly sour to one another. I feel like there would’ve been a better way to illustrate that they were obviously no longer in a romantic relationship.
    I honestly liked how she had moved on from Chaol, despite it being my ship

    I feel the exact same. Like I BARELY got through the book. I just could not understand how selfish and bitchy Aelin was being in this book. She tries to kill Dorian multiple times under the excuse of " it would be showing mercy" like Chaol was at least fighting for him. He had faith that he was still in there. And god I was so furious when she had that sword over his head, like you don't have to be so brutal just knock him out and run with Aedion. It's like she forgot everything Dorian did for her and their friendship. This may seem awful of me to point out but she would probably still be rotting in Endovier if it weren't for him. He was always there for her, he supported her. He gave her fleetfoot, he gave her a home and a place where her story could begin. He even didn't rat her out to his father when he knew of her true identity he believed in here continuously through out and she couldn't sacrifice an ounce of her time to fight for him? Like what about those days after she got Aedion back? After Rowan came back? Maybe instead of being a selfish ass and being only concerned about defeating Arrobyn or being with her "court" she could have interrogated the Vulg, she could have perhaps done research, i don't know but it would have been a far better thing than being so hellbent on taking the easy road and killing my baby. And why did she take so long to deliver her part of the deal to Arrobyn, like she could have given him the vulg a long while ago and focused on the other things. But noooooooooo. And then there's the whole territorial fae bullshit with Aedion and Rowan. And she takes joy in seeing them act like that. I was so upset that the hero the assasin the queen that we came to love over the course of three books was completely destroyed in this one for her selfish actions. I feel like we had 500 pages of dealing with Aelin's problems, Dorian being imprisoned in his own body, and literally every male in her presence swooning over her before she worked up some nerve and decided to help Dorian. I kept telling myself that it was going to get better.... but it really didn't i was only satisfied at the end after dorian was back. And at least Chaol had the decency to tell her that she should stop doing nothing and help Dorian, and after that Rowan or Aedion were like " I should rip out his tongue for talking that way to my queen" ugh this book was just terrible.

      How would Aelin know that he was still there? The Valg literally took over anyone’s body it possessed so what makes you think Aelin wouldn’t assume that the Valg didn’t take over Dorians body as well? And it wasn’t just any Valg that possessed him, it was a Valg PRINCE. Which could probably take over anyone’s body in a moments notice. Aelin to me was being realistic. She had to consider the real possibility that he might never come back. I also think it was portrayed as a character flaw. Every since Sam’s death and being in Endovier, she didn’t want to keep her hopes up that Dorian was still in there because it would only crush to learn that the Valg prince took over Dorian’s body.

    • @alexiswolf1549
      @alexiswolf1549 3 года назад +1

      I'm late to the party so this comment might not even matter and I respect your opinion. From the text though it seems as though you might be being a little harsh with Aelin. First, I note that CHAOL tries to kill dorian himself, what, a couple pages later? Not a lot of 'decency' in trying to help him there. Not only did he try to kill dorian, but he failed so spectacularly at it that he ended up putting the entire group - lyssandra, Rowan, Aedion and Aelin in danger by bumbling into the witches.
      Second, Aelin did try to help him, right from the beginning. She stopped, in the MIDDLE of a jailbreak to say over and over again, Dorian if you're in there, show me a sign, just one. She jeopardised not just her life but Aedion's life, a person for whom she was willing to gamble with Aborynn, her hated master, just to help Dorian.
      3) The sword over his head wasn't harsh, she was preparing to kill him if he couldn't give her a sign. A Valg Prince is not so easily knocked out. If she tried and missed and he stabbed her, or worse the entire plan fails. That, and killing him was a mercy for the friend she loved, all the others taken by Valg princes had begged to die.
      4) she waited to give the Valg Prince to Aborynn because she didn't trust him to uphold his side of their deals once he had what he wanted. She needed leverage. It was an intelligent, tactical decision, not wasting time.
      In the end though none of this may change how you feel, which is fair enough. But looking at the text objectively, I can't say I agree with your opinion, and these are just some of my reasons why. I think that's fair too.

So if she tried, longer and harder than chaol by the way; if she was the one that came up with the plan to free dorian, then actually risked her life carrying it out, if she gave chaol the medallion that saved his life, and even while Dorian was killing her she kept trying to reach him, what more, exactly, did you expect her to do?

    AHH YES I AGREE WITH YOU ON AELIN & Chaol!!! I was SO angry with the crazy Stark relationship shift between them and I probably yelled and screamed at the characters more than twice 😂 I was like, “Aelin what are you doing, all Chaol has ever done has been support you!!” I think maybe Maas was just getting us to hate Chaol and so all the characters turned on him & I hated it so much but I never hated him, he was the only good part of the books he only became jerky in This book, and it was so out of character like him calling her a monster & all the nasty things he said to her. Aelin has always kind of been a jerk, I’ve seen that and accepted it as part of her character (an annoying part) but Chaol was Never that way. It just came out of nowhere that they hated each other and it was all just so Maas could make us like Rowan more and set them up. And I think you’re right. Rowan and Aelin were better & made more sense in heir of fire. Why would Rowan, a several hundred year old immortal being, be romantically interested in Aelin? I totally agreed with all he said about her in heir of fire but then in queen of darkness he becomes her puppy dog and loves everything about her & defends her no matter what...she CAN be wrong you know. She is definitely not perfect. He used to call her a child, and temperamental etc. and I thought he was right, I was happy somebody was finally telling it to her straight. And his character might have been Chaol-Esque but as friends I still loved him. But for queen of darkness he lost all interestingness and became a lovesick love interest who like you said lost his purpose and any reason to stand alone without Aelin. He said before he wasn’t over Lyria, he said she was so incredibly mortal and young to him & now NOW HES IN LOVE WITH HER??? Argh it makes no sense! Chaol & Aelin have been my favorite character combo since the first book, and Chaol was my fave for so long I’m so happy someone else likes him. I wish their thing hadn’t died and Aelin didn’t treat him like dirt in 2/3 of this book, but she did, so I have more reason to hate her now. At any rate, love your opinions & once I finish empire of storms I’ll def read your review on that!!!

Their romance was so awkward and it felt so forced compared to the natural chemistry I felt she had with Dorian and Chaol. I feel like SJM is a little too obsessed with the alpha male stereotype and it really shows. I love Chaol too! He's the only one who seems to have grown throughout this series. Loved your review!

I did like how Aelin was like "boy, I am not some damsel in distress", but at the same time her I'm a woman army and everyone loves me drove me crazy. I'm conflicted, because I enjoy romance in my fantasy, but not the main plot, so I want the love interest. At the same time, I agree that it would be nice to have a platonic female/male relationship, and was hoping what I heard was wrong and there was Aelin/Rowen romance. I'm glad you don't hate Chaol, because I still love him and pity him.

    Hi, i read the 3 first tomes of Thrones of Glass saga, i just finished the tome 3 and find out they will not edit the Queen of shadows in my country (France). So i was curious about what will happend next and i'm now really disapointed to find out! How can you distroyed a caracter so humain and complexe like Chaol? And how Celaena can reject everything that we love about her badass personality? That's a big mess and i'm happy to not order the book in English which is difficult for me to understand the language. I absolutly agreed with you about how confusing the author built and evolution of caracter. She really destroy alot... Chaol paralysed, really?

    Where to start.
    1. I cannot stand Aelin and Rown together. They are both such strong characters and I loved them before they were a thing. Then they were a couple and they both changed so much, they turned so territorial and bitchy it was horrible.
    2. Lorcan is such a small part of the books and no one even talked about him until he was there. Umm he’s the most powerful male ever, why isn’t everyone scared to death.
    3. Aelin is the worst person in the series. Period. She lies about everything, she shuts out her past experiences, she is arrogant and knows it and is not sorry. She only cares about herself and a select few others. And the thing is, everyone practically worships her. That’s why I like Manon so much, she saw how she was a stuck up princess.
    4. Manon is amazing in this book, but when her relationship with Dorian forms, she falls apart. Her and Elide would have been the absolute best couple ever. They are both strong in their own way, and complement each other. Then because Sarah hates gays, that both dated guys and didn’t feel anything for each other.
    5. Chaol is written off as ignorant when he didn’t know any better. Aelin knew she was a queen for 10 years and didn’t do anything. Like, he was raised to not know better but you are above the rules miss princess.
    6. Aedion was just there. He was there for like comedy relief, but didn’t actually get the chance to do anything funny.
    7. Lysandra was also there for comedy relief, but didn’t get the chance. The only hype she got was when we learned she was a shifter. That was it and the rest of the book she was forgotten.
    8. Dorian was over looked the entire book and it was like no one cared. He was trapped in the body and had no way of knowing anything. And he and Manon are cool but don’t go together. They don’t compliment each other. They should have just been badass friends who were both gay. (Manon and Elide, Dorian and Chaol)

    I VIOLENTLY agree with you. Aelin was a horrible character, Queen of shadows and EOS were COMPLETELY different from the first three books. I hate Rowan because he’s a perfect hot special brooding mystery boy, and I hate that SJM ruined the relationship Chaol and Caelena had. I LOVED their relationship. Because Chaol wasn’t constantly explained as HANDSOME and GODLIKE BEAUTIFUL. He was a normal boy who tried his best to do the right thing. It was so romantic when they were listening to the orchestra play together, and Caelena thought it was so emotional she cried, and they held hands. That really made me all giggly and ;-; because it was so romantic. I remember crying my eyes out when Caelena almost killed him, and he was breaking down, hating himself for getting Nehemia killed. I was just waiting for them to reunite all of Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows, but then??? when they met again they absolutely hated each other, and then NESRYN is suddenly the love of his life, and SJM completely ditches Chaol by crippling him. It’s like she ignored what happened the first two books. jfc

    I think the problem with the characters, and in extension the whole thing really, was that they had development (some of them) and motivation, but none of them had distinctive personalities. They had tragic backstories, they were all ‘badass’, and some of them had superficial character traits, like Dorian’s reading, and Aelin and Lysandra’s clothes, but none of them had any life or colour. I think that’s why I loved a lot of the side characters more than the protagonists, like the dance teacher, and the thirteen, and Aelin’s friends at the watchtower or wherever it’s called. Bc they actually had the potential for personalities, and so did the main characters at first, but then they all got reduced to walking, talking, morally grey sex drives on legs with tragic backstories(tm). The character development was good but the personality just wasn’t there

I haven't read qos yet because heir of fire totally made me want to punch Aelin already so I reckon things gets worse in qos.Even tho I was a big Celaena/Chaol supporter I wouldn't mind if they weren't end game if it was done in a good reasonable way. They could have had a convo to sort their issues or maybe they would both realise along the plot that they weren't a good match and make peace with it. I wasn't aware he was paralysed either....that's not necessary! I also had a twilight feeling when I was reading heir of fire and so glad I haven't read qos now... I was picturing Rowan as a mix between that elf from Lord Of The Rings(not Legolas, the other blondie) and Edward Cullen lol..RIP throne of glass! I'm gonna pretend it had ended in COM :/

    I’ve just found your channel and was wondering about your opinions on the throne of glass series because to be honest, i really enjoyed the first book and was ranked as my “favourite book” for quite some time. Of course i respect your ship with Chaol and Celaena but yes like most of the fans, i shipped Dorian and Celaena instead, not really because of their chemistry but rather because i just loved Dorian as a character. I felt like through the first book, SJM gave that option for readers to root for their own favourite male protagonist which in my opinion, gave readers the option of having a preference suited for the female protagonist. What i was upset about when the crown of midnight book came out was how fast dorian’s potential relationship with Celaena was shoved aside to make way for the Chaol ship (which of course i had come to accept too). To be honest, i completely agree with you on the portion where SJM does not seem to allow the option of a completely normal, non-sexual relationship between two individuals of the opposite sex and i basically found it hard to continue after she introduced Rowan as a character. Yes, i see that he was supposed to be teaching her to control her magic and become more powerful but did it really have to escalate to a full on sexual relationship? I get that SJM is trying to insert romance into each book so as to not be so heavily plot driven, but i don’t really see the need for it to be protrayed in such a way. Honestly, we don’t really remember why did choal and Celaena’s relationship fell apart in the first place. I get it had something to do with Nehemia’s death (sorry my memory is a bit foggy because it has been awhile since i read the series) but i did not see why it fell apart so badly if Choal was the supposed “love of her life”. Some might justify that it was out of anger but there was a distinct coldness in the way the two characters interacted afterwards that drew an invisible line for Chaol ever returning to “Celaena’s list of potential lovers”. It is sad to see the wasted potential of how the relationship between Dorian, Chaol and Celaena could have progressed and strengthened throughout the series. It mainly felt as though the author simply shoved aside the earlier characters to make way for new ones, only bringing the old characters in for “potential” plot twists and major roles played by Dorian and Chaol later in the series. Can we also please just talk about the forced relationship between the healer and Dorian..? I understand that SJM could have wanted to symbolize it as a way of Dorian moving on from Celaena, even though he was not hinted as strongly to have been sexually involved with Celaena, but there was little to no character development for the healer other than the otherwise obvious attempts to form a love line with Dorian, only to get killed off in the end? In such a case, that was a poor use of a character as we did not have the emotional connection between the healer and Dorian to actually feel anything..? Other than Dorian just losing his cool after witnessing his “lover’s” death. Currently, i am just going to continue on to with the series simply because i find that i have invested too much to back out, even though i am enjoying the series much less with each progressive book release... thank you for letting me find this outlet to rant. I have been holding it in since crown of midnight just released and i didn’t have it in my heart to critisize it in front of anyone that could have potentially loved everything about the series.

    I was so freaking angry and disappointed when I finished QoS, although I was so excited to read it. And then it was just a huge mess. I feel like in this book SJM literally took everything back that she wrote in her previous books. All for the sake of other characters. This is so fucked up, really. QoS also made me very wary and conflicted in regard to every other SJM books. I couldn't even read ACOTAR and ACOMAF without thinking about the disappoinment that was Queen of Shadows. It's been a year since I read it and I am still bitter!
    But have you seen that SJM just wrote a whole book about Chaol? Seems to me like she wants to please her fans wo didn't like it when she destroyed his character.

    I agree that Aelin completely changed and I wish she wasn't so dissmissive of Celaena but I really like the new Aelin! I also really liked the fact that Sarah would surprise us with what her plans were and we didn't know about them. When it comes to Aelin and Rowan, everyone has been saying that their relationship was so forced and appeared out of nowhere, but honestly, I have been reading their relationship as more than just a friendly relationship all through Heir of Fire too. Once Celaena got off of the boat to Wendlyn, she had left Chaol behind, and Celaena as well. I think that Rowan was her love intrest as Aelin and Chaol as Celaena. I also hated how much Chaol changed from the last book to this book.

    WHERE HAS THIS VIDEO BEEN ALL THIS TIME?
    I agree. I didn't like Chaol, tho (idk why, maybe bc I felt like he was a cheap replacement for Dorian in the love interest department and Dorian worked a lot better, but in the previous book I also felt like he took way too many decisions secretly, told literal freaking nobody about it and still felt wronged when the consequences crashed on him), but I 100% agree that Lysandra, Manon, Dorian and Chaol were the whole story. Especially by how the books kept mentioning that prior to that, Celaena just HATED Lysandra, it makes her seem cool by inverse association.
    I didn't like Arobynn, btw, I felt his constant sexual behavior towards Celaena was very forced, just for us not to think he was actually a better and more honorable person than her. I did like Aedion, stupid "fae territoriality" aside. Yes, Aelin uses him all the time, but his undying loyalty to her was really admirable and a very interesting flaw as well, he just supported her all the time, regardless of how much of a horrible person, cousin and queen she was being, no matter what.
    My greatest problem with this saga is that everyone is SO. DAMN. EMOTIONAL. ALL THE GODDAMN TIME! So when something really important happens, the reactions fall flat, because they're just reacting as always.
    Anyways, very nice to finally find someone who agrees that this book is not great. You got a new subscriber (from a 6yo video, yeah lol).

  • @malglove
    @malglove 6 лет назад

    I don't disagree that Chaol and Aelin's relationship was a stark change from the end of Heir of Fire. I could be misinterpreting/misremembering but it was Aelin who was over Chaol and changed her mind -- it was Chaol. The first time they meet he is practically seething before they speak and Aelin is just waiting. Chaol was frustrated with what rumors he had heard and assumed Aelin was off ignoring the issues of Erilea. I think he was also implanting a lot of his frustration with himself about the way he left the castle. So then, because Aelin is as stubborn as Chaol is, she met his resentment and frustration with those same emotions. I guess my point is that we don't get to see Chaol emotionally regress after leaving the castle so I do understand why people who liked Chaol previously would be annoyed by this transition (myself included), but I also think people are putting too much blame on Aelin for this. What I personally find the most annoying is that, like you said, I feel all of this could have been resolved with a talk that they were too stubborn to have.
    Also, I am not a huge fan of Rowan and Aelin together -- let alone Rowan at all -- which is why I was not a huge fan of Heir of Fire. The entire time reading Heir of Fire, I *never* saw their relationship as platonic and knew that it would become something in later books. I'm just baffled that people thought it really was platonic? Even though Rowan/Aelin are not my favorite pairing, I hope that at least if they stay together their relationship progresses and there is some platonic, strong friendship that forms between Aelin and Chaol/Dorian.

I don't even know if I want to continue the series. I don't care anymore especially after Chaol was made out to be a petty ass. I still shop Chaol and Aelin. Chaol was the best. Rowan and Aelin is way too twilight. Even one of the chapters when rowan says he hadn't given much thought about how he'd die, it was right off the opening sentense in twilight. I hated it. It was annoying. I wanted to skip literally all chapters with Aelin.
