  • Viticulture in the Face of Interannual Climate Changes and Variations: What to Do?
    It is understood that:
    • On one hand, there are already numerous technical and scientific studies and experiments on the subject, as well as many scientific and/or technical publications.
    • On the other hand, it is essential to avoid quick-fix solutions.
In short, there are methods and tools available in the toolbox (figure 1), and it is crucial to reason and prioritize integrated approaches (figure 2), understanding that one method or solution will not solve all problems at once!
It is suggested to consider a range of solutions based on the combinations of grape varieties, environments, problems, and applied objectives (yield and aromatic profiles of the wines).
In this regard, it is important to remember that fundamental knowledge of the physiology, biochemistry, and genetics of the “vine-grape” system is necessary to aid in decision-making.
This highlights the importance of ongoing training conducted by competent experts.
The following link provides access to a short 23-minute video (which is far from exhaustive) that recalls some basic knowledge of vine-grape physiology.
