This is not the "only machine in the world" There are literally hundreds of thousands of hand looms in the world. The fly shuttle loom is n ot the traditional loom of Japan. It was invented by John Kay in England in the 18th century. Many weavers in Scandinavia and the Western Isles of Scotland still use hand looms to weave all sorts of fabrics. I live in Walton on the Naze (Originally from the Islands) and still weave on a handloom!
For those who say the pretty (and she is) young lady is only working the loom she is in another video monitoring a powered loom. She likely was asked to do this as well (I would also for that kind of money). Now on hand weaving.....someone should be able to weave enough for 6 pairs of jeans using a flying shuttle countermarch hand loom in one day. A counter balance is a joke because one could use 12 shafts on a very carefully built countermarch (I have a 12 shaft countermarch with the shafts approximately 6.25 inches total distance front to back then have a good rising/sinking shed). So with 12 shafts one can distribute each set of four warps x 3 so the warp will be evenly distributed not having problems and weaving a rag. BTW the real work is done in the warping and setup of the loom not the pretty young lady behind the glass windo. If the warp is not good and set up on the warp drum properly the weave will be junk. Nobody sees that do they? Professional hand weavers will know all this. The European warp drum will need to be back about 30 feet from the warp beam during this warping process to do it right. In the end it is a piece of denim/maong/dungaree..... speaking of dungaree fabric (which originated in India NOT FRANCE) India has a history of weaving going back 5,000 years and indigo dyed dungaree fabic IS the original denim not something woven in France much later. Sorry Frenchy and Heddels (great educational website that gets stuff wrong by saying stuff like a lockstitch is stronger than a 2 thread chain stitch when the US bureau of standards proved otherwise over 100 years ago and is in the Smithsonian library documents).
The Osaka store has a hand loom as well. When I went in one of the staff was using it. Not sure if it was just for show or if they do this as a way for the staff to weave more material for the gold label while there aren't any customers in the store. I'd guess the second as it did look like they were actually trying to make it. It's pretty cool.
about £1300, WOW. I have some Evisu Deluxe that are made from Japanese Denim which I got for £200 reduced from £800 ; ) the denim is amazing - hand dipped 15 times ; ) Momotaro makes Mister Freedom look cheap.
WOW! Where are all the denim experts at? These are around $2000, but nobody thinks that because of what's seen online and in stores. Like Johnny Walker scotch whiskey, theres a Black label for $25-30 and there's the Blue Label King George V for $550-$600. These Momotaro jeans are part of the (rare) GOLD LABEL. The woman is covering up an extra zero. Look at the bottom of the tag... that's right.... Gold Label price tag. If anyone wants more info, i might be able to help.
i rly want to buy one of them some day but can somone tell me the real price pls i mean 10 000$ is WAY to much! rly i dont think thats the right price.
And like i said, I am not only denim enthusiast, i am a vintage goods enthusiast, my profile picture is me proudly showing off my Visvim's Collector edition Virgil Vintage Boot, it costs around 3200$. Yes i know, vintage goods are very expensive. THey're only bought by entusiasts and collectors. I also have a vintage denim brand if you care much? To prove i am a denim enthusiast XD Good day.
Japanes are know for using young beautiful lady to attract customers. like maid cafes, its has the same concept as this. the lady with machine is an actual advertisement. those girls work shifting with that machine like a live manikins. you'll notice that the machine is visible in the glass wall from the outside. definitely they have their own factory working all the finish products.
This is why we lose faith in humanity. 1. Rather than wailing on others calling them dumb for not getting the price right, google it and get the facts straight. Took me 2 minutes to research that they have jeans retailing at about 175.00 yen, and apparently also cheaper ones at 17.500 yen. 2. If you wouldn't buy jeans at that price who actually gives a fuck? And why would you care that others do? They certainly dont fucking care about what you might think. This is like a fucking jungle. People see something and rage around as if they're brain dead.

Well, it just happens that i have alot of money i made from my Jeans Brand and its my hobby? Why the profanity and anger? I don't see why u need to be angry about it, it's not like i bought it with your money hehehe. And Givenchy is frequently seen worn by Sarah Brightman, Kanye West, Jay-Z is very fond of Givenchy. Visvim are just hipster dream brand, and it just happen that i like Hiroki's concept where he wants to make no one can make at all. It's not like i'd ran out of money if i buy 1.
The shuttle loom at the front is just for show... They don't make it on that specific machine. It's made in a factory on a mechanized loom.. 8 hrs for one meter good business concept. So what if that loom was destroyed, they would be out of business? I dont think so...
It says ¥17850 yen on the label not ¥178500 as this guy says. These jeans are not and never were nearly $2000. Here in the UK they sell for about £150 which is about $250.
Lol, it’s 2022 and found ur comment. These jeans are $2000+ for the gold label. You are referring to the copper label. You might want to edit ur comment and correct it.
It is much cheaper now, about 325 USD, and I think they don't use old wooden loom anymore since they can afford machine now. Anyway why will we pay 2000 USD for a non-famous Japanese jean with such a short history? Umm, interesting
2 thousand dollars for a denim??? fuck that shit Ill minus go to the flea market and get me a pair of fucking jeans fo 10 bucks hommie fuck paying that money with this economy in the us
what is this the 1800's hahaha funny,so if i go back home and made my lola(grandmother) weave a piece of something we would be super rich like hand woven underwear or something hahahaha
even if it's close to 2,000 and hand made and it takes a long time to make, I don't really see the point of wearing these jeans and paying that much. What for? do you suddenly feel sexier because they took so damn long to make?? Are you planning to wear the same jeans for like 10+ years? I think it's a huge waste of time on their part and waste of money on whoever buys them. I can pay $150 for jeans that fit perfectly, lasts a long time and be happy... why psyche myself psychologically thinking hand made jeans are like light years better than machines made jeans?
Nobody said this jeans is the best quality nor most durable jeans in the world. Who ever purchase the gold label is not just getting for the sake of proving the whole world he / she is rich enough but because they (including myself) appreciates such painstakingly human woven pair of jeans which is a dying artistry that is passed down for multiple generations.
you do the same thing in mexico and americans will pay 50 dollars for it tops, but because it is made in japan these fools pay 2k for it. Now let me tell you a cool story, the japanese have that girl only for display as they too think it is a better deal to just buy the fabric from mexico natives and manufacture 95 percent of the jean in italy , then they finish it in japan, pay the girl on display minimum wage and sell you the jean for 2k, but they love jeans long time, you know?

i cant tell whether theyre 17850 or 178500! her finger is in the fucking way. if theyre the standard momotaro denim that we can buy in north america, you probably added an extra zero to that figure...
I have been making my own blue jeans for over fifty years. But those, even if I could not sew, I wouldn't even pay two cent for them pants! For a start they are not aesthetically pleasing. I don't know but I'l bet their construction isn't anything special either. And don't get me started on the ones for ten thousand dollars! What a waste of good money, it's a shame really ... a shame.
