Best one could do is to learn how to drive a car that is equipped with a manual transmission and buy it. Car thieves do not know how to operate a car with a manual transmission and would not bother with one that is equipped as such. Best theft deterrent ever!
That just a plain dumb way of thinking car they are car guys they can reprogram your car what makes people think they can't drive a manual. I had two Camaro stolen both manual. A garage rifle kill switch and trackers are what people need.

Plus, the number of manual transmisssioned cars are rare to almost non existent. The numbers don't lie. You will be extrremely safe to own one as no one will steal it.
When they are done with them are they not going back to the real owners? Put an apple tracing device in your fuel tank if you detect the car stolen with in an hour you can track your car before its stripped.

a manual is not that hard to lear man and a broken transmission is probbably worth the effort.
