One category of explanation for the Fermi Paradox is the Time Elapsed Argument, or TEA. TEA is essentially a watered-down version of the Rare Earth hypothesis, arguing not that Earth has a few rare traits which are required to make life possible, but that it has several uncommon traits which allow it to arise and evolve more quickly. For instance, life on Earth is capable of mouse movement, which reduced the time taken for multicellular life to evolve from over 15 billion years to merely 2.1 billion years; this one factor enabled Earth life to evolve more than seven times as quickly, allowing its species to reach the Space Stage in half the lifetime of a typical yellow dwarf star.
i laughed so hard at the herbivore pitiful worm randomly getting a kill... they snapped thanks for continuing to think of and make interesting Spore videos years after the game's heyday. it's great to see that there's still an active community that loves this game!
@@guilhermeteodosio40 it says it killed a megamouth, if you look at when the cursor hovers over the target icon in the timeline ... megamouths being some of the most well-armed cells in cell stage
A couple ideas: 1. Can Cell Stage be beaten (automatically or manualy) with the worst possible cell? (a pitiful worm, but with its spine at the maxmum size and the carnivore jaw on its "tail" instead of its "head") 2. Can Creature Stage be beaten semi-automatically? (probably by holding W until a creature that isn't your species comes into Tab range, then pressing Tab and spamming the 1 key)
Spitballing some future experiment/challenge video ideas, hopefully they aren’t repeats of stuff you’ve already done. Love your videos btw! *Can you beat…* - Cell stage as a carnivore without directly killing? - Creature stage without socializing or directly killing? - Tribal stage without any tools at all (only natural weapons)? - Civilization stage without a single spice geyser? - Space stage without buying any upgrades at all? - The entire game on a planet modified to be the most difficult possible? - _All of these at once?_ *Can you…* - Kill an epic in creature stage? (I’d especially love to see this one) - _Become_ an epic? - Walk across the entire planet in a completely straight line in creature stage? - Wipe out your own empire in space stage? - Wipe out the Grox? - Use charmed epics to beat Civilization stage somehow?
I know you can kill an epic in creature stage, but only if you manage to lure it into a nest where it'll be overwhelmed. I think it's best if you do it in your own nest as well, since they can't go extinct and would continuously spawn

ive personally beat creature stage without socializing or killing (i literally just ate eggs the entire run it was Very Interesting), tribal stage without tools should probably be possible if your creatures offensive stats are good enough (ive had runs where i went without axes (i dont use other weapons) for a while and just relied on my creature's natural attacks), ive also killed a few epics in creature stage. so all of that is possible. neato
I don't think you can become an epic, but in earlier patch versions of Spore there were reports of people being able to turn their befriended rogue animals into epics by killing epics until the game randomly assigned their teammate rogue to become the new one. I've never seen it happen myself, though.
In cell stage the specific amount of 334 seconds pet billion years seemed a little interesting to me: Behind the scenes of the code I would bet that 333 seconds would be the equivalent of 999 million years, for a constant rate of 3 million years a second, with the final 334th second tipping it over to 1 billion and then getting rounded or truncated.
really fun video! brilliant concept, and you explain everything very well. watching this made my day, thanks! cheers from canada, make sure to stay warm!
Fantastic content Valence! I've enjoyed your speedruns, but THIS sort of thing is exactly the random useless knowledge that I crave. Really good scientific rigor!
Sick vid. Was not expecting this to work but thinking about it and how you have infinite lives, it makes sense. Wasn't expecting to see you run it with the worst cell as well, even with speedup that takes dedication.
I came in here to watch some quick videos about a dumb challenge to not focus on, it turned into a math exposés and im just impressed as counting on my fingers sometimes gets hard...
here's a cool challenge, try and complete the cell stage with the least and most amount of time possible. I would love to see one that ranges into the trillions of years
How scientific of you to do multiple trials with various variables! The fact that there are multiple advanced civilizations in the space stage makes more sense if it did take these cells billions of years just to evolve.
I think an interesting and probably unobtainable idea would be to train an AI to play spore to the end, or something to do with randomized part addition or deletion via "mutation" to simulate real evolution.

the only winning move is not to play
Wouldn't that be almost easy with cheat engine or other external tools?

always appreciate when full subtitles are available, imo a clear indicator for someone who's passionate about their content!

Absolutely loved this video, amazing how thoroughly you covered this, I cannot wait to see whatever is next!
I loved this new experiment-style video! You should do more of them (of what I have no idea, but it seemed fun)
Im always so happy to see a new spore video from you. I really hope you have more to come!
This is pretty much jellyfish
Perfect video, thanks for going the extra mile every time to answer every potential question
I'm so glad to have found this channel omg thank you
I really thought this was a pretty generic boring challenge video but.
I'm amazed how entertaining that was. Awesome work

Thank you for lovely videos. I have nothing to suggest so just keep doing whatever, I'm up for it.
I loved this video a lot. Very well done
Dude you are the sporelord. We love the vids!!!!
Interesting video. Love to see spore videos still being made after all these years
This is the most insane video on RUclips.
recently got into spore again and your videos have been addictive for me, love what you do
This was great, I liked the work you did to make sure the measurements were accurate.
Wow, using actual scientific methodology for Spore wasn't something I expected clicking on this viedeo. Definitely subscribing!
The amount of effort you put into this is insane!! I can't believe you keep finding ways to make Spore so interesting and fun to watch
I highly appreciate the closed captions on this video! :)

I loved this video! Cell stage is so underrated. Thanks for making it, and I'm looking forward to more Spore videos.
the vid was already really good and then you brought out the charts and the formula... love the dedication. keep it up!
As a Sporoo enjoyer, it filled me with glee to see Sporoo come in -second- third and Loobo get almost last in the herbivore heat
I adored this video. I would be interested in more experimental videos.

Nice! Took it as far as it could go and I appreciate that.

Really enjoyed this new format, would love to see more like it in the future!
I really like your videos pekos you never give up even if spore is an old game keep up the good videos👍
I like how cell stage said “Its celling time.” and celled all over the place

i was half expecting this video to just be you using keyboard controls
it'd be interesting to see the minimum keyboard/mouse action requirements to beat the game
this is great. its like a shounic video for Spore.
Great video! Very well done and thank you for doing all the math!!! 🤩

Wow, they're about as smart as real cells!
I hereby baptize these as "Luigi cells".
damn now thats what i call SCIENCE
You should make a Destroying the Grox speed run
Haven’t watched the video, but I’m going to assume no. You need to click the timeline to advance to the creature stage and thus finish cell stage
Loved it!
You’ve actually become a biologist rather than a video game player, what with controlled trials and all.
How scientific of you to do multiple trials with various variables! The fact that there are multiple advanced civilizations in the space stage makes more sense if it did take these cells billions of years just to evolve.
Well well you managed to turn Spore into a 0 player game. Seriously tho nice experiment to watch. :D
pitiful worms are cells that have their mouth on backside. it makes your "challenge" a lot harder
so unnecessary, but so interesting. Well done.

That is, if you like playing the waiting game.
Luigi beats Spore by doing absolutely nothing
Technically, if you have a touchable screen you can beat all 5 stages without “moving the mouse”.
good work
new challenge: beat spore without earning points from other creatures
Oh, like the ol' strategy of waitng until food comes to you?
