It's nice to see my long departed Dad on this film. And as a small memory of this occasion I still have the white cotton/jute overalls with the big green and gold BP shield on the back.

Great to watch this. I've read the wonderful book Bluebird and the Dead Lake so to watch this after reading that book is amazing stuff.

Amazing to finally see this nearly 50 years after it was made. Not only a fascinating film but the added bonus of a score from John Barry that I'd never heard before.

Great to see this. I saw Bluebird in Adelaide at the Expo. I also went to high school with Robert Price from Muloorina Station.
This film was great and bought back many memories. Thanks to the uploaded for this.

Fascinating off-the-wall fly-on-the-wall view of Campbell's 1963 attempt. The story is familiar, but now there are images of the events I've read about. Many thanks.

Powered by the wheels! Having seen this with the body off... I am still blown away by the level of engineering and its scale. Bravo Sir Donald Campbell

David, thank you so much. As a fan of the composer (John Barry, who that same year scored Goldfinger), I have longed to see this film and thought I never would. Hey, I don't suppose the music recordings survive do they? I know CD labels that would love to put it out if they do.

Director Brian Forbes once said that John barry dose not need "one hundred violins" to create music for films. This is the good example. Barry creates dynamic sounds by using small orchestra without strings.

I'd love to see "A True Story of One Man and His Bank" -- the other documentary you directed that had a John Barry score.

Some very interesting footage - which was filmed in 1963 to be correct. Campbell returned the following year to achieve the record..........

This is also a documentary about how a Land Speed Record attempt can increase livestock opportunities in remote areas... I bet the "Just Stop Oil" brigade haven't seen this. 🤣
