Psychologists and psychiatrists are two different professions. Psychiatrists are medical doctors, psychologists are not. Psychiatrists diagnose illness, manage treatment and provide a range of therapies for complex and serious mental illnesses. Psychologists focus on providing psychotherapy (talk therapy) to help patients.
