      its a pretty intresting laptop, but i want to have a laptop with good battery life that I can take with me to college and use to stream games from my future computer. Currently have a lenovo ideapad gaming 3i and I would honestly keep it cause it still performs really well but the battery life is killing me! one hour full charge and that cant stand when i go to college

    Honestly not sure why Razer gets so much? The specs they manage to fit into such a small chassis is remarkable. Can’t believe how far we’ve come in regards to laptops in just 10 years!

    • @fernandong9576

      is actually very impressive to be honest, such powerful performance in such a small form factor. although it has quite some compromises (soldered ram, low tdp, high price, bad after-sell services). it's still a very nice laptop, cuz it offers something that no other has (a 3080ti in a 14-inch laptop, that's crazy) (but i actually think that the 3070ti model is the best out of all, 100 watts is too little for a 3080ti)

    • @reservoir_flow
      @reservoir_flow 2 года назад

      Three main points:
      1. The Razer tax in general - you pay more spec for spec than competitors. For example, last year's Razer Blade vs a similar spec G14 was not even comparable price wise (this year the G14 has increased its price and the conversation has subsequently shifted)
      2. Razer had HORRIBLE Battery power management - look up Razer battery bloat and you will hear horror stories of batteries becoming spicy pillows within a single year
      3. Razer also had HORRIBLE QC issues along with less than stellar Customer service
      All these added together with it being seen as overpaying by a lot for an attractive gamble. Of course a lot of the second and third points have been addressed as they improved year over year, but that reputation stayed

    Would have loved to see more about the MUX switch, I did a bit more research on my own and from looking at other reviews and what we know about turning OFF optimus, the 2022 RB14 seems like it would be able to have a significant boost in performance over the 2021 since the older model didn't have a mux switch.

    I sincerely hope that this focus on fan noise and thermals continues - don't get me wrong, I understand that these are "performance-forward" machines, but considering that Razer's Blade lineups are one of the only powerhouse-and-design-centric Windows laptops on the market, I do appreciate them doing everything they can to make these work well for both work (low fan noise, better battery) and play (QHD+ gaming at high specs).
    Looking forward to the next lineup up of both the Blade 14 and 15 next year, with hopefully a continued focus on efficiency, fan noise, and speaker performance. Let's get a true MacBook competitor on Windows!!
    (quick edit - yes, I too hope will be a 32gb+ RAM option... hopefully not cost-prohibitive!)

    • @OtesOtesOtes
      @OtesOtesOtes 2 года назад

      I don't know if Razer can do much about battery life. It might be up possible to optimize battery life via CPU microcode/firmware or low-level improvements to OS code, but I think it's mostly up to the chip designers themselves...AMD can upset Intel again by halving the gap between x86/AMD64 efficiency and ARM / M1 / M2 efficiency. Even if Intel is getting better benchmarks by ignoring thermals, AMD can win the market by following Apple's lead and increasing Performance per Watt.
      This would lead to quieter fans and longer battery life, making the experience of using the laptop much more enjoyable.
      Macs have better screens & better battery life thanks to their efficiency. With IPS Black Razer could address the weak contrast of regular IPS and that would be enough for me to buy the laptop. Eventually I anticipate battery capacity to improve drastically, but before that happens, we should first improve the efficiency of our processors.

      Or they could be doing it so they don't cannibalize Blade 15 sales. Think about it, a major reason to get the B 15 is so you're not limited with RAM. Also, 14 inch laptops are getting more and more popular so yeah they have to manipulate their options. Any manufacturer in any industry does this, just sucks for the consumer.

    • @jaylen11000
      @jaylen11000 2 года назад +2

      @@zerocal76 Or they could just not have the space? Literally no 14 inch gaming laptop has fully upgradable RAM right now and it's clearly a matter of size. There's simply no space for it and that's doubly so once a vapor chamber is put into the equation. And until we get cooling good enough to not require one in applications like these (or smaller RAM sticks), I doubt this will ever not be the case. That being said, 32 GBs as a option when you purchase should be offered since both Asus and Alienware do so even with the ladder's all soldered design similar to Razer.

      @@julianandreiimperial2660 so the major factors for me. First a personal one. I’m an NVIDIA fanboy. Have no experience with AMD GPUs their software or how it’s all managed so that was an adjustment I gave up on. Software wise I just prefer DLSS and NVIDIA management of hardware and software. Performance wise the 6700 isn’t as strong as some reviewers have made out. From a heat management side the system is awful. My system would sit idle over 87 and be at 97 1 min into a game at high settings. The screen on the system was nice however, it’s a less common resolution and sometimes didn’t adapt well to games. Shrinking resolutions in game to 1080 or 1440 Often out games in a windowed format and resulting in a need to change the system resolution. This happen with WARZONE and RDR2. From an overall stand point to me it felt cheap. Plastic but durable. I had a white model. The grey is nonexistent in USA these days. So if you take the above and factor in it would win the worlds most portable toaster and become uncomfortable to the touch. I decided to return it. The blade 14 I have is amazing. The ram is an issue however, I don’t ever max out ram so if you can look past that it’s the better option in my opinion. I purchased the 130w gan charger for it which is lovely for travel and wrapped it in a dbrand skin to protect it. Absolutely love it!

    Using the previous year's model I'm overall satisfied with the device. That said, before I upgrade I'd like to see a few things improved (all of which I don't think will happen).
    A. Double Sided NVMe support - Probably not going to happen given the height constraints
    B. 32GB RAM - Again, most likely won't see this improve any time soon.
    C. Better performance on battery - This I'd like to see drastically improve. This machine crawls on battery (even adjusting the power profile). Even though this is plugged in most of the time, I do move around with it. Even for basic office tasks this machine just suffers on battery.

    Bought the 2021 Blade 14 and 2022 G14 to decide which to keep. Razer won and it wasn't close. It has more power in a smaller package and although it can run hot, isn't anywhere near as hot as the G14. Add in better quality control and design and it was a no-brainer. The Razer costs more (even last year's model) but you get what you pay for.

    I’m really not sure why Razer is so reluctant to move to 16:10 screen. We can’t deny the Macbook influence on their design, who has been using 16:10 for such a long time. Most mid-to-high end Windows laptop are moving over to 16:10 ratio as well. It just seems funny that they always upgrade their specs every year but also always leave their screen almost untouched.

    Coming from another Blade 14 owner that has the 2021 3070 model, I really don’t see myself upgrading any time soon. I have it hooked up to a 34 inch LG ultrawide since I do coding, some animation work, and digital art. But the only thing that will probably entice me is 32gigs of ram and possibly a brighter screen when I’m on the go. I feel like Razer is intentionally doing this to us because we all want that perfect laptop, but keep re-releasing it (similar to Apple) for sales until they integrate what their customers need years later. While the Razer Blade 14 is almost perfectly suited for me portability and power wise, it lacks other features us creators need to make it a very competitive machine.

      @@MatthewMoniz That was with CB R23.
      I did have it on a coolermaster cooling pad though, but surely it couldn't have made THAT much of a difference Matthew? I think this is why the scores are not so much better here.. the clock for clock performance is better in the 6000 series but the sustained clocks are lower? I could be wrong.. All I know is that the all core turbo of the 5900HX is 4.2 and it hit it immediately and sustained it with temps in the mid 90's. The max temp of 6000 series has been lowered drastically by 10 degrees to 95 vs 105, so that's another issue.
      Anyway I was SO impressed with the performance but had nothing but problems with the trackpad and audio out, I exchanged it for a 15 advanced/11800h/3070, clocks are WAY lower, 3.4 sustained, so I was very disappointed with that, but the audio out is perfect as is the trackpad.
