Sebastián Achaval and Roxana Suarez - Caminata, argentine tango lesson (2014 Riga Tango Fiesta, LV)

- RTF2014. Demonstration of walking (caminata) and posture: normal and switching sides. Pay attention to how Sebastian uses his foot to "roll on" using the whole metatarsal. At the beginning of lesson the posture of a couple was discussed. Both should be facing each other head-to-head but with a shift to make room for the heads. The important points were that the follower (1) should not try to position herself snuggly in leader's right arm "cup" (too much off-center) and (2) the follower should not make a V-position by opening his chest in regards to the leader. If the follower does do, she cannot walk straight backward with both legs. With V-position she would be walking almost like doing cruzadas with each step. The formation of the abrazo should feel like hugging a barrel; not hugging one dimensionally straight heart-to-heart with the back hands. Basic level. During Riga Tango Fiesta during 2014-05-01 .. 2014-05-04. www.rigatangofiesta.lv
Notes:
Toe or heel first? When asked from Sebastian, he explained that he uses both interchangeably. You can see both in his walking through the video.
00:43 - 00:45 Pay attention how Sebastian shifts Roxanna's weight in place while staying put himself (repeated at 02:17)
00:45 - 00:55 Pay attention how Sebastian leads Roxanna from one side to another while he walks backward
00:56 - 01:04 Shifting sides with a weight change. This works especially with vals too.
01:05 - 01:14 Walking in a tight circle. Pay attention to placing each foot next to follower's foot
01:15 - 01:18 Leading follower to switch sides at fixed spot
01:45 - 01:55 repeat of 00:45 - 00:55
01:55 - 02:05 Leader's milonguero style forward-backward step "out of a way" walking
02:05, 02:13, 02:17 Adornos after step
02:45 Ending

That was brilliant!
I've always believed that the best dances can look awesome doing just walks. Here's proof!
Hasta para caminar son elegantes que lindo poder bailar aunque sea parecido!!!
Lindo trabalho parabéns
Extraordinario ...
Lovely! Of course, at any reasonably attended milonga you do not have room to do that. More than 3 or so forward steps in a row and you have just plowed into the couple in front of you.
Genios !!!
so beautiful!!!
Compliments to thorough analysis of the video. Really good job.
Comments about heel vs toe first. It's a different lead, learn what's most comfortable to you, and try to be consistent.
Roxanna is his partner and excellent dancer. If you changed style continuously during a milonga you could confuse your partner.
They never had "milonguero" embrace, They use light V-embrace and false close embrace (they are close but not touching their bodies).
And their embrace is very fluid, adjusting it continuously so it's easier than doing in close a one(body connected).
Demo is nicely done with a lot of elements from various styles.
I'd like to report a typing error
"Pay attention how Sebastian shifts Roxanna's weight in place while staying put himself (repeated at 02:17)"
Should be 02:27
Sorry I didn get the error
Bailar a copes
