On this 231 (which also has the same movement, you start feeling the resistance as it gets near fully wound. Then, there is a very obvious hard stop when it is fully wound, to where you'd really have to crank on the crown to wind it any further. The rep did the first wind with me in the shop, and I've never had any doubt how to do it. The rep also said that if you do wind through this stop, it's okay; you can keep winding the crown and it will feel like there's no resistance, and the watch will keep running.. it needs to unwind a bit naturally before the manual winding can then be re-engaged.
