Thank you so much!
I love this effect, going to try it out tomorrow, thank you for sharing. ❤️
Thank you Sarah, wishing you lot of fun with your project! ✨
Didn’t have the dilutent so I just winged it. Used to much ink and stained my desk pink 10/10 would try again 😂 wonderful tutorial :)
Thank you Courtney! Maybe you can try to use rubbing alcohol, wishing you more luck with your next try 😁
I made a galaxy slab today but didn't think to look up a tutorial. I use pinata ink but since it dries very fast, I sprayed isopropyl alcohol into several small plastic cups. Then I dropped each color of pinata ink into the cups. I used cotton balls to pick the colors up and dab them onto the slab. I occasionally sprayed the slab after dabbing the colors on to help blend them where it was needed. I occasionally let it dry and added layers to deepen the pigment. I wish I could comment pictures on RUclips, but if you have Facebook, there is a group made by blue bottle tree called Polymer Clay Earrings and you can check out my results if you're curious as my galaxy looks a bit different from this. I apologize in advance if you are aware of group or are already a member. It is a nice group and there are so many beautiful earrings posted daily
Thanks for the video!!! I’m going to try this tonight. 😊
I love this. I used rubbing alcohol for the dilutent and some of my clay cracked/separated before I baked it. Did I use to much? Should I have used something else? Thank you!
Hi Monica, we are sorry it did not work 100% for you. The thing is that working with polymer clay and adding various mediums actually is chemistry. In your case there are several variables and we are not able to tell 100percent why it happened that way. New projects sometimes require also some experimenting and finding the "right way". Probably you will need to experiment. What we would try in your place: 1. if there is a possibility, use the diluent that is originally meant for use with alcohol inks. 2. alcohol (it's in the inks too) is dehydratating substance so that might cause the clay to crack, because it makes it excessively dry - suggestion- use fresh and softer type of polymer clay (hope you get what I mean with this, english is not my mother language). 3. Did you add there anything else except the inks? If you added some kind of powders, these also can cause drying of the clay. What kind of powder was that? We use metallic powder. But for example, when we tried the same method with mica powder, this also dried the clay and it cracked.
Hope you will solve this soon!
If you find out what caused you the troubles, feel free to come back to this post and share your experience. We are sure, it will be highly appreciated by the community.
@@MyVian thank you for your response. I will get some regular diluent. I also used a metallic gold eyeshadow as the powder. Maybe that effected it too. I will try again. Thanks again.
That eye shadow looks super suspicious! You can try one more time without and see whether it works. The metallic powder from our video is totally different “ingredient” from the chemistry point of view. So maybe try just alcohol ink+rubbing alcohol and if you are going to buy something, then buy the metallic powder ☺️
I'm having the same problem and used the manufactured blending solution, not rubbing alcohol. Doesn't matter how much or how little I use.
Love love love
💕💕💕
Beautiful! Could you use a rubbing alcohol to replace the diluent?
Yes, you can :)
@@MyVian thank you so much! I’m new to polymer clay. The alcohol inks are safe for baking in my oven I use for cooking as well?
@@shoshanaweisberg1858 same question!
So beautiful! THANK YOU!!!!🌈
Thank you Ruth! 💐
Hello! Did you use a glaze or anything on the earring or leave them as?
I had no idea you could use alcohol ink on polymer clay! I'm definitely going to try this out!
Yes! It's very easy, we wish you lot of fun with your project :)
Wow! You deserve my comment and my like. I can't wait to use this technique. Thank you for teaching us. 🙏🏼

These look like fun!
Thanks for sharing! Your work is amazing ❤
Thank you very much! 😍
They are beautiful I used this technique twice already but back of earings are very stained every time...would recommend what to do about that?
Thank you Aurelia! Yes, backs might get stained, what you can do is to paint them with acrylic.
Just glorious 🙏🏽💖
Thank you 💕

@@MyVian Can you use rubbing alcohol to spread alcohol ink like this?
@@nancyh9125 Yes, it worked for us, so it's definitely worth a try :)

Hi, gorgeous technique! Do you need to seal the earrings afterwards? If so what do you recommend besides resin? Thank you!
Hi, thank you! There is no need to seal the earrings (but of course you can use resin, if you like the look)
I love these! But what is diluent?
Thank you Martina! The diluent is a medium sold with alcohol inks, it helps the ink “travel” on the surface and create the effects ♥️
@@MyVian is it the same thing as isopro... something 😄 With high alcohol level?
@@martinamagnusson2073 something similar, yes. But the best way probably is to use the designated medium, so everything works correctly etc. you know.. :)
Is the dualant necessary? Any other product can be substituted?
Hi! The diluant creates the wet surface for inks to create the bleeding effects etc. so it is quite neccessary to use it. However, if you want to substitute it- some people use rubbing alcohol with few drops of liquid glycerin. But since we do not do it this way, we cannot provide more information or experience on this. But definitely you will find the info on google :)
Gorgeous
oh wow it`s so beautiful . thanks ❤️❤️
Thank you Kimia ❤️
Awesome results. Love how bright and brilliant the colors are.
I was going to ask about the dilutant also but I saw your answer on other comment. I found a blending solution on Amazon. Would that be the same thing?
Hi Darla, thank you for your lovely words! Yes, blending solution is the same thing, just different name 🙂
I love this technique! Could this also be done with black clay?
Thank you Stacey! It can be done with any colour clay, the inks are then less bright / visible.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Kathy!
❤❤❤❤❤👏👏.
What is your preferred brand of clay? These are stunning!
Thank you Joni! Mostly we use Fimo, for projects with translucent clay we prefer Cernit ☺️
Wow!!!
Fantastic
Thank you!
These are beautiful! I am going to order alcohol ink right now so that I can try it too! What do you use to seal it after baking? Resin? Varnish?
Hi Becca, thank you! They do not have to be sealed, but if you are aiming for further effects, resin or varnish are good ideas :)
This is beautiful! Is it necessary to seal it after or no need?
Hi! Thank you! We did not seal it, the nice glazed look was there just like that :)
Thank you ☺️ lovely ❤️
Thank you!
Thank You for your video! Is it safe to put polymer clay & alcohol ink in your home oven?
Thank you Brenda! Regarding the oven and potential fire hazard- it is safe. Regarding toxicity, of course it is better to use separate oven if you create a lot ✨
Obrigada por compartilhar. Grata por sempre colocar as lista, do material a ser usado🌹
Thank you Beatriz! 💖
oa tudo bem eu nao entendo inges vc consegue passar o nome das cores que usou
These are gorgeous!!! Would alcohol work as the dilutant?
Thank you Donna, yes, you can also use rubbing alcohol :)
Hi.. Can be bake polymer in microwave convention or heatergun.. Can you pls suggest something other than oven😊
Hi Reshma! Microwave and heatergun are not a very good option for polymer clay, but convection oven is the way to go!
Cool
Wonderful 👏👍👍👍
Maybe you can help me. I'd LOVE to try this successfully, but every time I cut out my shapes, the paint cracks across the surface, exposing the white. I'm using Fimo Soft white, proper alcohol inks by Ranger, and the alcohol blending solution. It's like all the alcohol is interfering with the chemical makeup of the clay. What's going on?
Hi Erin, this is interesting and never happened to us. Maybe you can experiment with amounts of the solution and inks? Or maybe you can experiment with the drying time, maybe you are cutting them too early or too late. Also try to sharpen your cutters. Hope this helps 🙏
Vraiment magnifique j'adore ce que tu fais 👏👏👏💝💝💝💝💝💋💋💋💋 félicitations 👏👏👏👏
Thank you! 💕💕💕
@@MyVian 👏👏👏👏 continue comme ça tu nous fais rêver 👍❤❤❤
Awesome is the bronze powder mica?
Hi Dina, it’s pigment powder ☺️ mica could work too
Hello!! I loved the video I had to do it right away, but some colors changed a lot when baking, I left them as long as the packaging shows, but the colors darkened. Any advice? Greetings from Chile !!!
Hi! This is quite difficult to say what has happened there. We experienced something like this when we used translucent clay of one particular brand. If you did something else then the tutorial says, then that exact change might cause the problem. The most important- use white polymer clay, alcohol inks+diluant, if you are going to use powder-use metallic powder (no mica powder/eyeshadows etc) and bake as it’s standing on your polymer clay package, this includes temperature&time ☺️ good luck ♥️
Hello! Thanks for this tutorial! I tried and it make my clay very hard once the alcohol ink dried up. Is it normal? Is it due to the clay that I used? I am using Cernit normal white (not the translucent one)
Hello Joanne! Thank you! Regarding your question, did you use any powders along with the alcohol inks? Because we had similar experience when using mineral powders with alcohol inks (in the tutorial is used metallic powder). We are using Fimo soft or professional, but we do not see any reason that Cernit would not work properly. Hope this can help you a bit.
wow
Can you use acrylic brush cleaner as the dilutant?
Hi! This cleaner is probably based on acetone, while the diluent is based on alcohol- if so, you are not going to get the same result with the cleaner :(
Can i do it without the diluent?
Hi Pariksha! The diluent is there to help the powder and ink behave correctly and “move”, so it’s neccesary, but it can definitely be purchased at the same shop as the alcohol inks 😉
Almost forgot! There is one thing that can be used as the diluent 😉 it has to be something with high proportion of pure alcohol, and surely during these times, you can find easily hand disinfection, but remember- it has to be the liquid type based on alcohol (not the gel etc.)
What is the first product you use before alcohol ink and where do you buy it?
Hi Ellen, it is called diluent for alcohol ink. You can buy it at the same place as you buy alcohol inks. It can also be substituted with rubbing alcohol/hand dissinfection based on alcohol-easy and cheaper option. We discussed it here a lot in the comments, so you will find here many interesting opinions and ideas. 💛
What was the clear stuff you put on 1st, I have alcohol inks for resin are they thd same
Hi! It is called alcohol ink diluent, it helps the ink travel around. It can be purchased at the same place as you bought your inks or also it can be substituted with rubbing alcohol or alcohol based hand disinfection spray :)
I love this except they r only one sided
Can I ask what happens if I don’t have ink diluted?
Hi Dana, the diluant helps the inks to move. So if you do not use it, you will have just drops of colour on the clay, maybe it will be interesting result too ☺️
Do you Still sand/buff and coat with resin after baking?
Hi! Yes they mostly need some sanding after baking, coating with resin is optional- it would look good but it is not necessary. For example these are not coated :)
I really love these! How long do you allow the ink to dry before baking or cutting?
Thank you Debra, something around 15 minutes will be fine. You will also see it, that the ink dried ☺️
@@MyVian Thanks. Forgot to ask you what the stuff is you spread before the ink?
That is called “diluent”. It is a medium that helps the ink spread&mix :)
@@MyVian thanks, I think I have some.
I made the same earrings las week 😅.But for the gold I use the paper.I made a set the earrigns and ring.Art is beauty everywhere you go.
Perfect! This technique is so fun and makes beautiful results ☺️
I ordered alcohol inks and it gives a warning that the inks are highly flammable and to keep away from heat sources. Is it still safe to use them when baking the polymer clay?
Hi! That is absolutely true. In the tutorial you can see that we let the inks dry out on the clay before baking. To be on the safe side, give it time.
Hi! What size cookie cutters do you use?
Hi! The large cutter is 4cm in diameter and the small one 1,5cm ☺️
Is that rubbing alcohol? If u is it safe to put it in the oven and bake?
Hi Mary! In the video we are using alcohol ink diluant, also rubbing alcohol can be used. If you watch the video, you will also see that there is some resting time during which the liquids dry and the alcohol can vaporise. Then the pieces are put in the oven.
@@MyVian thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it. Love your work/videos💕💕💕
Thank you! ❤️
💖🙏🏽
♥️♥️♥️
what are the alternatives for diluent?
Hi Marian, some people use rubbing alcohol or alcohol based dissinfection, you can experiment what works for you.
So I have the alcohol ink but not the dilutent? Is there an alternative?
Hi! Yes, you can also experiment with rubbing alcohol or alcohol based hand dissinfection.
@@MyVian Thank you so much for the fast reply!!
so diluent is a must ?
Thank you Cannon! There is needed something that will help the ink to move around and create the effects. We recommend the diluent, it can be bought at the same place as alcohol inks. But if you do not have that option, the diluent can be substituted with rubbing alcohol or alcohol based hand disinfection spray.
@@MyVian thank you for the tip
this is beautiful! has anyone tried this one homemade air dry clay before?? I'm hoping to make it work as I have a hard time finding polymer clay
Hi Mandy, seems like nobody tried it this way.. our guess is that the technique will work, just the air dry clay is not the best medium for making earrings.. because it might break easily.. but what would be a great project for this technique on air dry clay? Maybe a wall deco :)
@@MyVian thank you!
man it looks so easy i just dont have stuff 😀
Can I replace the dilutiter with alcohol or anything else
You can replace it, but you cannot skip it ☺️ and a good tip for replacement is a alcohol-based hand disinfection

Which clay have you used?
Hi Sehaj, we use polymer clay from Fimo in almost all our tutorials ☺️
@@MyVian where can i get that in india could you please help
From where do you have the alkohol
Hi Andrzej! You can get these supplies online or in art/craft stores :)
@@MyVian Thanks
Can anyone tell me what would happen if I did this process, but on an already-baked polymer clay piece?
Hi! We find this technique cool because the inks can mix on the large surface which is then cut into earring pieces. If the clay is baked, it cannot be cut anymore. Or you can cut them, bake them and apply inks after, this will just take away the colour mixing part. But maybe you have different project/plan and you’ll be fine with it ☺️ the remaining question will just be whether the inks will attach to the clay. The best idea would be to make a testing piece 👌
@@MyVian Oooh, now you’ve definitely piqued my artist curiosity, (which is always dangerous, of course!!)
Thanks so much for answering my question! I’m gonna try it both ways and see what happens! (Also, these are just absolutely beautiful; thanks for sharing with all of us!) 😘
