  • This customer wanted a set of rear discs and pads so we supplied and fitted them for him!
Thea PSA vehicles tend to have rather expensive rear discs, you might have noticed in the video that the rear wheel bearing is built in to the #brakedisc … is that a good idea? I don’t know 🤷🏻 but it works for 1000s of #citroen , #peugeot and some #renault

It's a bit expensive, I can get Pagid discs for £54.42+vat each or Brembo discs for £57.70+vat each. Full job would be £283.93. Euro car parts sell them £134.90 for the pair to the public

This is actually an issue with the industry at the moment, from a repair business perspective…. With a trade account with euros I can’t get the same discounts as you so 9 times out of 10 you’ll be able to get them cheaper than me.
As it goes I don’t have a local euros

@@EllsAutoCare I feel the same way about euros hopefully the trade will adapt and the labour rates will reflect it

This still the case now i had trade account back in 2008 and the discont codes you could get online would still come out cheaper to joe public. My local mercedes dealer is very competitive for disc and pads ect sometimes actually cheaper then anywhere else which is hard to believe

@@dafxf9668 awe okay, I couldn’t use them regularly as a business tho because it’s not always that straight forward. Like Iv turned up to change brakes 1000s of times and the customer doesn’t need them.
Would be to much of a faf sending them back

This customer was actually great and said well it needs to be done just do it. Then asked me to service his other vehicle.
I think the thing is the fronts are only £200 and something so when you tell them the rears are almost double that it’s a bit of a shock. I could do it cheaper using crap parts but just find that’s not cheaper in the long run so supplied tidy parts like

£400 brake job n didn't notice you add copper/anti squeal to the brake pad backing plate. You also reused the same brake pad brackets & bolts instead of installing new ones. Brembo rear pads come with new brackets and bolts. Your either blowing smoke up customer back side or u r being given bad deals on parts to be so expensive. For £400 I expect brand new components/replacements. This looks like half a job.

Hey! Thanks for your comments and your feedback.
I will say tho…. Copper grease isn’t used anymore, not only is it not use its actual strongly discouraged. It’s encouraged tho how ever to use metal free grease like ceratec, ceramic or silicone….. but even that is discouraged on the back of brake pads.
So thank you for noticing my good work and not doing ether of those things.
Iv fitted brembo that have and also haven’t come with new hardware. So I wouldn’t rush to assume they all come with them or even that they always need change 👍🏻
But thanks for the comment i really appreciate it

@@EllsAutoCare In America auto repair averages around $140 an hour, a cheaper brake and rotor job all the way around on a small car is usually around $600 (470ish pounds?) SUV's and larger vehicles are more so if I was there you would definitely be doing my brakes. 🤣
