The Minister was refusing to meet the inspector, refusing to publish his reports (because they showed how breathtakingly inept the Tories were at getting anything at all done) and ended up firing the Inspector. This guy here was doing exactly what the Immigration Minister - which was Robert Jenrick at the time - wanted. This story is more than a year old btw.
It's easier to get rid of herpes than civil servants, and if they did it would cost the tax payer hundreds of thousands of pounds to pay him off, and he'd get to keep his gold plated pension despite the fact the man is an incompetent nincompoop. The depressing thing is he sums up the ENTIRE civil service, Yes Minister was supposed to be a satire but it's now more like a documentary.
