I believe Tomo Fujita says, "don't compare". I just enjoy what I'm able to do on guitar, while also enjoying listening to what others can do on guitar.
Something that's worth mentioning about Max Ostro... He's only 17 currently. He started uploading videos covering guitarists like Paul Gilbert and Yngwie Malmsteen when he was about 12!!
I've had some cool chats with Max - he's a really cool guy, and very different. You know right away that you're talking with a genius. Those were only text chats, but Max also likes to speak in a very convincing British accent; he made a Q&A video where I could have sworn he was a Brit, if I didn't hear him speak in Russian in the video! An interesting fact Max told me was that he didn't start playing guitar as a little child as I assumed - he said he pretty much started at 11....it was hard to believe!!🤯🤯
I was lucky enough to do a record with Sylvain Luc. I asked him to show me some chords and he said " Doog, zere are no chords, zere is only melody..." I've never worked with a more musical person.
Adam Fulara was one of the first ever guitarists I saw on youtube that truly blew me away.. such a surreal talent! His other videos are just as amazing.
Haha Great stuff. I saw him play Maple Leaf Rag like 10 years ago if not more.. blew me away. I actually bough a classical shortly there after and started classical lessons. I only took the lessons for about a year but have since learned many classical pieces. Still not sure how Adam Fulara plays what he does.
That Max Ostroumov was 15 in that vid. Reminds me of a young EVH: good theory knowledge, super fast and fluid runs, tapping, the EVH hair, inventing his own style (tho it borrows from EVH & Satch), flawless and creative harmonics, and breaking the "rules" of how to play. Oh yeah. And, he rocks.
Antonio Rey makes the guitar both growl in passion just for a second and sing softly the other instant. At no time there is any plastic-like nylon sound. Every "aggressive" outburst is so clean and reminds me of a wooden percussive instrument. At the same time the treble is so warm an sweet. Truely mesmerizing, as you say, wow.
Wow! Some talented players! The double neck thing, umm, yeah, how the F$%K is that even possible!? Guy must be a savant or something! Sylvain is a beast! I loved the stuff he did with Birreli Legrene. Another phenomenal guitarist that no one seems to ever mention!? Check out the DVD, Birrelli and friends!
Surprised you didn't know about Max Ostro; he's burst on the scene in my feed over the past few months but his fusion soloing instructionals (at least the ones on youtube) are *amazing*
The only one that can make me sell my guitar is Davie504, so I can buy a Bass, but Lucas and other great guitarists are inspiring me to get better at it.
I used to play percussion for dance classes in France; one of the teachers was Sylvain Luc's girlfriend; sometimes she came along with some Syvain demo cassettes and we worked out choreographies out of it.
Hi Lucas, I'd love it if you checked out Feng E sometime. He is young ukulele player from Taiwan. Outstanding for his arranging and diverse technical skills, especially his percussive elements. I appreciate your generosity, skills and knowledge.
For me listening to skilled guitarist, there is no G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All time), At the right time and the right place and the right mood, these guys are all Great!
I always look forward to you video's like this. Maybe in future installments, you can react to Mike Dawes' Jump, Luca Stricagnoli's Feel Good Inc, Justin King's Phunkdified or even maybe any of Kaki King's acoustic repertoire.
Well Lucas I always remember the statement that Chris Impellitteri made about facial expression being most important!🤣 I think Adam Fulara took his advice on and took it to another level!😂
absolutely insane! these kind of vids have helped discover so many great musicians and has expanded my musical horizon too to say the least! thanks Lucas, your kind are the ones that make this earth a better place to live in!
I have never ever had the feeling of watching a great guitarist and then wanting to sell all my guitars (1) I've always said to myself, I can do that, I want to do that, and proceed to try to do that. I have achieved a level I never thought I would, but there will always be someone more skilled.
Great vid once again, just kinda shocked no one brought up, Guthrie Govan, Sabicas, Danny Gatton, Paco de Lucia, John mclaughlin, make a part2!! this should be a series :-)
Awesome selection of world class virtuosos. Adam Fulara was the only one with whom I was not familiar. Thanks for spreading awareness of these geniuses who are all propo0nents of contemporary high culture.
Thanks bro! But you're as good as any of those folks. The first two players were the most transcendental of the group, especially the double neck guy, but he made lots of micro mistakes too bro. Give him 5 years and he'll own the world but dude, you're great too. Really! The tone on the girl classicist was out of this world! That stood out too, but you could play anything she could and probably stuff she can't. You rock Lucas, period!
1:39 okay, the ONLY reason he could play all that was that someone kicked him in the nuts just before filming. That first guy is like if Steve Vai and Guthrie Govan had a baby. 6:06 jebus.... with double jointed spider fingers like that, of course he can play fast! Tory Slusher does some pretty cool two handed tapping stuff.
Wonderful is the right choice of word. Of course, you are one of ''them'', Brar. Thank you for what you have been sharing. You got me interested in classical guitar and can't get enough ever since. Cheers! (From Quebec Chinada)
I understand those feelings of self doubt and insecurity that witnessing a great virtuosos, especially child prodigies perform magnificent music may incite. When I was younger, I smashed guitars out of frustration and experienced the anxiety of self doubt, but fortunately I have matured and now not only accept that others have achieved levels of greatness that are beyond my capacity, mostly because I never studied music theory and have maintained musical illiteracy that may have obstructed me from attaining those levels of virtuosity, but what I have accomplished are the levels of originality and authenticity to which I have always aspired. When I was a teen, the first time I heard Hendrix, my response was "my G()D, this guy is as great as Bach." While Hendrix was nowhere near Bach's level of technical perfection, .was nowhere the musician, composer or arranger, the reality is that he had that pure alchemical elixir of originality, he was beyond Bach and his influence globally may be as great. I am not saying Hendrix is greater, which would be sheer lunacy, but the fact is that we are blessed to have both, that variety is the spice of life. The reality for me is that I love music far more than my fears, insecurity and limitation and when I hear these virtuosos, I don't try to compete with them because they are far better at being who they are than I could ever hope to be, so their music for me becomes inspiration, rather than intimidation and I love them rather than fear their prodigious skills and musicality.
Looks nice and is probably very low action. But - the piezo sound! I do not understand why this type of pickup has not yet been abandoned. Sounds horrible to my ear.
I think our guy is gonna throw out his guitars meow. DONT. you're amazing too! look at me, I cant play guitar to save my life and I've been playing diligently for 15 years. I have THE worst paperthin nails and admire you as a guitarist. love ya bro
Please try Carlos Vamos with "Vamosia", Andy McKee with "Rylynn" or "Ebon coast" (duet with Jon Ross), or Jean-Felix Lalanne, with "Selena's dream" ! I love all of these guys !
seriously you should be on the list of insane guitarists. I know you know but have to remain humble and deny it upfront. after watching you turn paganini caprice into a jazz masterpiece with your russian friend I was sold.
Jorge Caballero - not sure if boiling down entire orchestral scores to a single treble stave is the way to go, for the guitar, but JC's "New World Symphony" for six strings is an astounding display.
Max reminds me of a young Eddie Van Halen. Not by just how he plays, but his mannerisms and his facial expressions. I can see him doing EVH's solo in the "Jump" video.
I haven't sold my guitars, but I've practically stopped playing thanks to all the excellent players I see on RUclips. They make me feel like a fool. Before the internet, I didn't know there were so many talented people.
I know how you feel, but I'm going to try to take enjoyment from playing anyway, if only to get above the everyday for a while. You can only start from where you are, right?
I just stopped watching those guitar heros (with very few exceptions, like when Lucas presents...) and enjoy my practicing. An occasional look at other guitarrists in my level, who are just a little bit better than me is kind of inspiring then.
Perhaps the greatest takeaway from this is that it pays to look for inspiration in genres that you are NOT familiar with, or play in. We live in an era, where regardless of the area of achievement (sports, music, writing, anything..), someone has pushed it to a place beyond your own imagination. The only thing we can be sure of is that someone else will take it even further. And that might even be you.
Thanks Morning Brew for making me smarter - sign up for free here cen.yt/mblucasbrar
Estas Tonne reaction? He is the greatest guitarist ive seen. Music is so pure and comes from within him
Love Stephanie…she’s from my city, Perth, Australia….she proves we do have a small measure of culture over here.
Luv u2 Brar
Check this guy out a Brazilian Paulo Martelli
U have to check estas tonne
I believe Tomo Fujita says, "don't compare". I just enjoy what I'm able to do on guitar, while also enjoying listening to what others can do on guitar.
There's a reason his channel is called guitar wisdom
I love him. He’s like a combination of a guitar God and Japanese wise man. Lmao
He is my best man.. 👍🏼👍🏼
I remember Tomo saying that. Yes, don 't be discouraged, just be yourself.
But isn't there still a part of you that goes...... I wish I could ..........
Adam Fulara isn't just a master of double-neck guitar. He's also a master of guitar face.
Legit checked his page to see if he had some type of palsy but turns out it's just the worst looking guitar face ever
In fairness, his hands are being tortured by his puppeteer.
If Metallica played classical guitar.
Absolutely true ahahahah
That’s not guitar face. That’s severe, uncontainable pain of the brain.
Something that's worth mentioning about Max Ostro... He's only 17 currently. He started uploading videos covering guitarists like Paul Gilbert and Yngwie Malmsteen when he was about 12!!
I freaking love Max, man. He's one of our future guitar heroes (more so than he already is) and the kid just seems so humble.
One of the most naturally gifted and effortless players I have ever seen.
Yes, as soon as I saw him I remembered seeing his video(s) from a few years ago. He's not as shy now and just over the top talented.
He seems to play like (and sport hair like) Buckethead, a student of Paul Gilbert.
Stephanie Jones is the real classical deal. Her tone control and quality are excellent. The composer is actually also a beast...
Saw her live recently. Perfect!
@@robhand7205 the Maple Leaf Rag was my favorite video on his channel haha! You should upload some tunes sometime bro. :)
Thank you for the lovely comments Lucas!
So well deserved! Glad Lucas talked about your shining talent. You both share this inspiring love for music we can hear in every note you make.
Outstanding Ms. Jones....your tone and musical comportment made me cry. Smh Thank you!
1:37 I agree the playing is insane but the faces are insaner
I'm glad you checked Max Ostro. He's just a 17 year old kid. Amazing
This Fulara is amazing, I knew him after he played in Portugal some years ago. Really unique playing. He's completely possessed
No, he's just also taking a dump
Well his face is

This guy with Bach performance blow my mind completely.
Im glad you got to know maestro Antonio Rey through our suggestions! Congratulations for your channel, absolutely enjoyable!!
I love how you can hear the guitarists breathing in sync with the music they play, how they move their whole body expressing it.
I love this naked-eyed type of videos from Lucas. It really goes to show who he truly is beyond his guitar skills. ♡.
The astounding beauty of Bachs music never fails to move me.
I saw him live in a litlte club in NYC a couple of years ago, playing with a jazz band. Amazing talent.
what a GAME FACE this second guy has :D :D love it
Max Ostro's been discovered, finally!
1:38 - 2:37 (Adam Fulara) a.k.a: "I'm having a stroke guy"
Sylvain Luc is the GOAT. One of the most underrated in the jazz community...
It's not just that he's playing a Bach piece for 2 instruments, he's doing it WHILE he's taking a sh!t.
The second bloke with the double neck guitar, the faces he pulls are priceless, 😅🤣😂🤣😅😆🤪
Sylvain Luc is the master of the Masters and a really nice guy too !
Awesome, thanks for putting this together, Lucas.
Sylvain Luc...you have real good taste ;) Apart from Ostro, I didn't know the others. Great discoveries, thank you!
Adam Fulara's facial expressions as genius as guitar playing.
Adam...wow. Insane is right. A pleasure to see and hear.
Max...with the passing of Eddie I didn't know how much I needed to hear this.
You might want to check out Antoine Boyer. Not only is he a fantastic guitarist, he's an amazing composer as well.
I love Max ostro. His Song Rumba is very great
Surprised you didn't know about Max Ostro; he's burst on the scene in my feed over the past few months but his fusion soloing instructionals (at least the ones on youtube) are *amazing*
a person of Culture i see. max is the future for fusion guitar
@@robosing225 Smooth and nimble just like Guthrie. He's great.
Listen also to Anton Oparin, he was already playing Gilbert at the age of 11)
Max Ostro is the new guitar god.

Stephanie Jones’ fingers are so small but it just doesn’t matter. She’s great.
That Bach piece on the guitar was the greatest display of technical yet emotional playing of any instrument.
For me listening to skilled guitarist, there is no G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All time), At the right time and the right place and the right mood, these guys are all Great!
We wanna see you tackle pieces like that. Show us the complex classical side of you! :D
tapping counterpoint is just insane !
Highly recommended checking Stephanie Jones playing Invernio Porteño.
Max Ostro ...exceptional! ...Feodor Dosumov? ...Charlie Hunter?
0:43 his face looks like he is playing mary had a little lamb
This guys like, “I got some good vids to watch and then the bonfire wood is lined up on the bed behind me kids!” 😂
The amazing thing about Max Ostro is that I'm pretty sure he's still a teenager!
He's 17 if I'm not wrong
Yes 17 dude. Check his channel there are some videos when he was 13 playing Malmsteen. Insane technique
he played like that at the age of 13. Anton Oparin played like this at the age of 11)

The back of my head blew off when I realized Sylvain was playing Nardis, so good
Love what you do. Love the selections. Thank you.
Every single one of them was nothing less than fantastic!!
🎸🔥🔥🌋🤯
Wow, some mad talent here!
Oh for crying out loud.
Just what I need.
Another group of young players who make me realize just how inept I am
that last guy has invented an entirely new genre of music
1:39 okay, the ONLY reason he could play all that was that someone kicked him in the nuts just before filming. The guitar is an incredible voice of infinity.
For the next instalment, check out Miroslav Tadic on classical and Naudo Rodriguez on nylon string as well

Adam the 2nd one needs anger management sessions , great guitarist but facially ? Excellent video Lucas and analysis.?..amazing players

That's cool, musical, excellent
the guy Fulara is not a human
Watch his mouth. He obviously is adicted and sucks in all the stuff for strings... I love his insanety!
WOW! That last guy was amazing. He was playing a Govin. I was going to buy one. He's made it look more tempting.

No roxane elfasci playing James Edwards arrangement of claire delune?

Adam Fulara remind me to Felix Martin, and Antonio Rey remind to Paco De Lucia. But Max Oxtro is shredder from another level
Look at that 😍 and I can't
Even get up the motivation
To put on a new set of strings
!!!
Pretty sure I'd be making birth giving faces while playing that too
Dang I thought for sure I'd see Joshua Meader here, his virtuoso playing on classical guitars with a pick is insane and very rare
6:40 now Antonio Rey is a dude I would like to hear play some Black Sabbath.
Throwing in 8 note shred fills every where is the shit
I haven't sold my guitars, but I've practically stopped playing thanks to all the excellent players I see on RUclips. They make me feel like a fool. Before the internet, I didn't know there were so many talented people.
I know how you feel, but I'm going to try to take enjoyment from playing anyway, if only to get above the everyday for a while. You can only start from where you are, right?

HOLY CRAP I CAN,TBELIVE WHAT IM HEARING GREAT STUFF LOVE IT
5 years later I still can't even if I tried
